The FEAR of Rejection in MLM.

Does fear create a barrier between you and your success in your mlm home business?

Does fear hold you back from calling people and asking for their help?

it does many people in network marketing and if you do not understand certain aspects of FEAR.

FEAR is nothing more than a paralyzing emotion that creates a stoppage in what you are doing and shifts your focus from what you want to happen, to what fear is stopping from happening.

In 2012, you need to make a DECISION that you are going to conquer FEAR or Rejection once and for all and move past it.

If you do not, you will never see the Success that you deserve and desire. Most people struggle with some form of it.

You do not need to.

You can overcome it and conquer it.

You can  rise above it.

You can become a fearless person if you so choose to. It is UP TO YOU.

What do we need to understand about FEAR concerning your home based business?

What is the number one cause of failure in marketing and home based businesses?

The struggle with, and the lack of ability to overcome the fear of rejection.

Why do network marketers let this fear influence their behavior in a negative and paralyzing fashion??

Here are some thoughts that may help explain some things…

1. Not everyone you talk to will want to do business with you.

Timing would be bad or they are just not interested. You have done  NOTHIN wrong. It is just not for them NOW.

2. Expecting everyone you meet to like or accept you is to completely out of reality.

There are some people too focused on what they are doing to ever care about what you are doing. Just the way it is.

3. If you don’t ask for what you want,  it is highly unlikely you will ever get it.

Most people do not ASK. They play around with it, and some even avoid asking. The Power of asking- online or offline- for the business is a MUST.

4. The fear of rejection prevents you from asking questions, asking for an appointment, asking for someone to join you.  HELLO?

If you do not ask questions for an appointment, or people to join you you will never have a business. Only a lot of frustration.

5. The fear of rejection is one of the biggest causes of failure in every area of life, not just network marketing and mlm.

This is something that you must understand. it is NOT just in home business. It is in LIFE and you must overcome it.

6. The fear of rejection is a mind set and heart set issue and can only be overcome by strengthening other thought and attitudes – such as confidence, self-belief, patience, trust, and self-image.

Developing confidence alone is one of the most powerful ways to overcome fear of rejection. All fear is, is the lack of overcoming confidence.

7. The fear of rejection is a symptom of a need for acceptance, approval or validation.

Many people today are “approval-aholics.” I was for years. But understanding WHY you are like that can help you overcome that and massively increase your business online and offline.

8. The fear of rejection sends a powerful non-verbal message to your prospect that you lack not only confidence or belief in yourself, but also your product and your ability to help him or solve their issues and challenges in life.

“Most people are concerned over the economy would you not agree? I am not. I have taken steps to insure that I have more control over my own economy and can increase my income anytime I want. How does that sound to be able to do that in your life?”
 
When you start talking about what everyone seemingly is focused on-you will be:
 

Heard.
 
Felt.
 
Focused on.

 Just thinking about making telephone calls makes some people sick. I made them for years, and still do. 

Lots of them. 

How about you?

Do you struggle to pick up the phone or do you do it with a smile on your face knowing you are going to get a great response from your calls? 

Well- maybe you fall in the struggle group and are looking for reasons why that this is happening. You start making phone calls, and then after a couple of NOs, you start getting that lump in your throat and soon- you cannot talk. The emotion you are feeling has taken over and you simply cannot pick up the phone.

But yet- you WANT to make more phone calls, but just cannot seem to get it done.

Why is this happening?                

Let’s take a look at 5 Psychological reasons that may be in play here, and what you can do about it in this mlm telephone training.

1)  The Fear of Feeling Inadequate.

Many people feel that after they get a couple of Nos, they are becoming inadequate. They feel that they simply do not have what it takes to create success in their mlm business. The Nos have made them feel that they lack something. Well- here is what you need to understand.

You are NOT inadequate.

You MUST got through a certain number of Nos. That is just the way it is. I had to get a certain number of Nos and everyone else must as well. Just know that you have EVERYTHING you need to succeed in this business.

Nos are just a part of the business that we all went through. It is natural to get more Nos in the beginning then later. You will get better. You become stronger and more confident.

So hang in there . You will start to see great results soon enough.

2)  Being Influenced by Other People’s Emotions.

Many people that make calls are hanging on to other people’s emotions that they carry and believe are true. Many people dislike making phone calls. And they very innocently influence you into believing it is hard, they are a waste of time, and all you are doing is bothering people.

That is simply not true.

With every phone call, you carry with you a possible solution with you that can help people and make a difference in their life. Every phone call can be a transforming moment for folks. You are NOT bothering them. You are simply seeing if they are someone you can help or not.

3)  Not Knowing what to Say – Paralyzes you.

There is nothing more paralyzing then knowing that you don’t know what to do– but yet you are expected to perform. This can create a feeling of massive fear and massive doubt.

Why does this happen?

Most of the time, you can get more telephone training on a Verizon commercial than you do with the average company. Most do not train on what to say or do on the phone. You need to ROLE PLAY to build your knowledge and confidence. You need PRACTICE and more practice. This will help you get past being paralyzed. And knowing what to say is something that you MUST learn, and we have many trainings to teach you.

4) The Feeling of Disappointing Yourself.

Many times, people will hesitate making phone calls because they do not want to disappoint themselves. They many times berate themselves and ask they cannot do this business.

Why do they feel disappointed?

Because they compare themselves to others that are having different results.

That is a good way to push yourself out of business. What you need to do is simple. Quit comparing yourself to anyone as you walk your own path in this business. And do NOT feel disappointed you made a phone call and it did not go so well.

YOU are NOT in charge of results. You are only in charge at getting better at making phone calls. The results will come quicker than you think.

5) You are Not Really Serious about this Business.

Most people that get into this business are NOT that serious. They are what I call “tire kickers.” Most people get into their own business to “Try it out,” and to ‘See what happens.” And because of that- people FEEL that from you and react accordingly.

Would YOU let a dentist that is not really serious about what he does to work on your teeth? Would you let a mechanic that is not serious at what he does work on the car that carries your children? How about letting a doctor recommend medical advice when you are sick and really is not at all serious about what she is recommending?

Hello!

So you are not going to be taken serious as well as a professional with that kind of focus. If you are just “trying” this business as most are that are IN  business, people will feel it, and treat you accordingly. People want to talk to someone that is serious, not someone that is just kicking tires.

Get serious and you  results will change as well as your telephone calls.

 The same traditional unchanging principles will always work for your Home business, but the approach to them are changing as we speak, and transitioning many companies either into dynamos – or dinosaurs.

Depending on the decisions being made, the same thing can be said for Teams in Network Marketing. Some teams are accelerating their growth like crazy through mobile recruiting and social media, while others look at those teams as if they are crazy. People today have been pitched, sold, recruited, called, pressured, hassled, manipulated, congregated, and have become totally frustrated with the old ways of communication from Network Marketers.

People are tired of the mlm pitch-and want THE PATH.

They want a Conversation that leads them to NEW Ideas, New Possibilities, New Thinking, and New Solutions to problems that no one else has taken the time to give them.

READ THAT AGAIN.

You be the one.

You be the leader they are looking for and lead them with words that guide and direct to Value and Solutions-not just Volume and Selling.

 Look at the highly successful companies today. They are playing by New Rules and adopting New Tactics.

 So should you.

The new way to start the conversion process today is back off—and hold a CONVERSATION- about the prospect, their challenges, your solutions, and how the two can intertwine.  It can be online through Social Media Conversation, or through Mobile devices, or it can be offline and through face to face or voice to voice Conversation.

Make each prospect the superstar of your conversation and make it about their wants and desires. Take them to places of possibility that they never thought possible through the New Media. The Secret is LISTEN- CONNECT- AGREE- TRANSITION.
 
You first must LISTEN to the prospect and listen to their language. If they are saying anything about the economy and the times, you need to make a mental note of that. They are worried and looking for help.
 
Then you CONNECT with the prospect. “I can relate to that and you are so right. Things are a little tough right now- but we can help change that.” Connection is the forerunner to New Direction.
 
Then you AGREE with the prospect. “I agree with you that you must do something-change something-and I am right there with you.”

Read that AGAIN!

There are many secrets to this business and working it during tough times can be a bit of a challenge. But if you know what to do, then it can be a piece of cake!

What are some of the things that you need to do to create a business explosion with your network marketing business?

MLM Success Secret 1:

Understand the Psychology of People During Tough Economic times.

People today are worried about their income and lifestyle. It is that simple. They are worried about being laid off, not being able to pay their bills, and what the future holds. Let’s be real folks…The last thing they want from a network marketing professional  is a “pitch.” ‘Pitching” people during “Tough Economic Times” (TET) is the last thing you want to do.
 
People you talk to want more than to be another “pitch’ or presentation.

They are looking for CONNECTION to something that will guide them and lead them to a more powerful income possibility and more secure future for their family. People today aren not looking for another “job,” but something beyond that. Something that makes sense to them. Something that they feel can move them forward during these TET.
 
You want to CONNECT to them, and then CONNECT them to an emotion that says ‘Things are going to be OK.” You need to be understanding, and empathetic to the prospect, and come across like you care.
 
Do NOT pitch the prospect. Listen. Empathize. Understand. Offer a path out of the worry they are feeling.

Deal in Reality- NOT Misery.

 When you are talking to your prospect, do not agree with their misery if they are talking that way. Deal in a NEW reality -the reality that they can change their position and place in this economy with your help.  Most people are dealing in a Misery of FEAR. You need to move them past that fear. You need to move them past that emotion. You need to get them to see that there is a Success Reality that is available and not just an economic misery. 
 
Give them a DOOR- Dose Of Ongoing Reality

And lead them through that door with showing them how normal and average people that are in your company, are getting past the misery and fear that you see all over the media. Let them know that they do not have to settle for what the media and news is telling them.
 
Reality is what you decide it is. Let them know that. What is REAL for you, is what you decide is real. Success is as real during tough times as it is during prosperous times. Show them the way. Give them a path. Open the door. Lead them through it.  Say, “You can have the life that you want, and during tough times, it is easier than during great times. More people are open to change and doing something different.”  Give them the Reality of Hope and keep them focused on that. 
 
MLM Success Secret 3:

There were more Millionaires Birthed during the Great Depression than any other 7 year period in the history of our country.

 This secret is HUGE. When you are talking with folks, you need to say that. “You may not be aware of it, but there were more millionaires created during the Great Depression than any other time in our nation’s history. This is THE time right now- to start creating wealth in our lives. You just need a direction and a plan-would you agree?”
 
TET are what you are looking to change as a marketer.

You need to change the Great Depression to the Great Incubator.

During these times, you are going to be either outside of the Millionaire Incubator, or INSIDE of the Millionaire Incubator. You need to ask what makes more sense to the prospect.
 
“Which makes more sense to you? Taking advantage of these economic times, or letting them take advantage of you?”
 
The LISTEN to what they say.
 
Their answer will speak volumes.

If you are talking to them face to face or on a phone call, then you simply ask them this powerful question:

“If you think about it, what is your greatest challenge today that you would like to get rid of?”

Here are the 5 MLM Recruiting Secrets:

1) “What ever you DO–NEVER bring your own life problems into a recruiting event or conversation-0nline or offline. You are there to help solve THE PROSPECT’S problems.”

Any type of negatives from you or our conversation  will absolutely shut down and shut out a potential mlm prospect. Many people do exactly that- go negative on the prospect, and why I could not tell you..

Here is a MLM Recruiting tip: Stay UP, Stay Energized, Stay Optimistic, and things- NO MATTER WHAT–are always GREAT! Let’s be real–the prospect has his/her own life challenges, and is looking for a SOLUTION and ANSWER, not more problems, even if they are not their own.

2) “Whether you are on social media, telephone, or at an appointment, always tell them why you are there, why you are calling, why you want to connect, or why you need to meet. “

There are Recruiting Tools we have taught for years and we call them “Clarifiers.” They help clarify things in the process of recruiting. Clarifying Phrases are powerful tools for online and offline.

For example:

“The reason I am calling…” is a very powerful  and clarifying phrase.

 “The reason I brought this up…” is a powerful phrase to transition into more of a recruiting conversation.

“The reason I wanted to share this with you is I have run across something that truly is amazing” is a powerful and personal way to come from the heart.

 “The reason I am reaching out and connecting is…” is a great social media/online way to connect and start the conversation about your business and products.

3) “Concerning using the phone with recruiting-Never let any initial telephone conversation go past 10 minutes….no matter what.”

There is a reason why this is co critical- even with online communication. If a conversation or call goes past 10 minutes, , you are showing the home business prospect that it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort and words to work this business. You need to respect their time, and that alone will make you more productive. Simply set another time to talk or to connect online if they have an interest in what you are offering.

WARNING: whatever you do, don’t come across as NEEDY and you are someone that  has a lot of extra time on your hands. You need to come across as BUSY, ENGAGED in your business, and you have other calls  to make and appointments to go to, or social threads to atend.

4) “Concerning any kind of Appointment: Never let an appointment – online or offline–go past 30 minutes….no matter what.”

If an appointment goes past 30 minutes, , you are telling the MLM prospect it takes a lot of time, effort, and words to work this business. In my 14 years full time, I never had an appointment go past 30 minutes.

Here is a shocker: Even if the home business prospect wanted to sign up, I was the one that asked asked for more time- every time. “I would love to get your name in the computer and order done…but I am going to have to have a few more minutes…is that ok?” If you Value their time,  they will value your leadership and presentation.

5) “Whether online or offline–When presenting, you MUST make sure you are focused on that they are looking to see how you and your business is going to bring VALUE to their life and family. In MLM Recruiting–It is ALL about VALUE.”

Here is a question i have asked many places: Would you want to buy a pair of new shoes if you saw absolutely no value in them?

Of course not.

The network marketing prospect will not sign up either without what they see as VALUE.

 You need to use what I call “Value Building Phrases:  

“How this brings Value to you and our family is…”

“What this means to you and your future is….”

 “How this will dramatically improve your life is…”

 “The Value to your income would be…”

Use “Value Building Phrases” in every presentation you do-online of offline.
