MLM Training- What Causes The Fear of REJECTION?

Fear of Rejection is one of the most powerful in MLM and even in social media and social networking. I have seen this for the last 25 years as well as the last 6 in social media.

There are many causes to the Fear of Rejection, but I have found that you really cannot conquer it until you know the SOURCE or REASON for the fear.

I am sure that you have felt that knot in your stomach when thinking about calling someone. I have felt it before and it is a VERY uncool feeling. I remember that feeling when one person in particular I called. I thought I was going to toss some cookies I was so nervous.

The Cause of the Fear of Rejection I have studied over time and have found through research that there are 7 main causes:

1 Not Being Approved of

This is the biggie. Many people in MLM and Home business want people to approve of what they are doing, and approve of them. This one is one that must be dealt with as “approval-itis” kills many a home business.

2) Feeling of Being Abandoned Again

Feeling of abandonment is another issue. Without getting into a psychological discussion, this cause can be crippling to someone calling people as they do not want to feel like the person is going to leave their business.

3) Doing something wrong – self conscious

Many distributors/consultants have what Icall the “No No” syndrome. many people ina home business think that they are doing something wrong. What happens when we are babies, we hear the word NO 80 times more than the word YES. We are programmed for that word, and mindset.

“NO NO! You will get burned if you touch that!”

“No NO you will fall down the stairs if you get too close!”

“NO NO you will get shocked if you put your fingers in that!”

NO = You are doing something WRONG.

And many people in network marketing still struggle with that syndrome.

4) Feeling inadequate Again

The feeling of inadequacy seems to be another big problem with folks. They feel they are “not enough” to succeed in a home business. So they never call anyone because if they do, then their “lacking” will be discovered. This is quite a strong issue with people who have done MLM before.

5) Reinforcement of Self Doubts

We live in a Doubt Focused world. That is just the way it is. But if you are going to succeed you must live in your own FAITH focused world. We doubt because of what has been spoken into us and over us by others. This makes us doubt ourselves when we call people, and thus, we do not.

6) Previous life experiences of rejection

Rejection through life is a biggie as well. I experienced this in life growing up, but was blessed to get beyond it my freshman year in college. What has happened in your life as far as rejection cannot be changed- but you CAN change how you respond to those memories. You can either control them, or let them control you.

7) The emotions and mental pictures you have to deal with.

We all have mental picture and emotions we deal with on a daily basis in a hone business. They are either pictures of Success or struggle. Your life always moves towards what you have pictured in your mind. If you see your business struggling, it will. If you see your business succeeding, you will. That is up to the movies that you play daily in your mental theater.

Fear of Rejection can be conquered, and easily, if you identify what is the ROOT CAUSE of it. This fear can stop you working social media. It can stop you working the phones. It can stop you working this business.

It is a powerful way to work in social media, face to face, public meetings, in home parties, and just over a webinar or cell phone.

In today’s world, microwave speed communication is standard. In the news it is called ‘sound bytes” and that is what they are. They speak quick, a couple of sentences, if that. We all communicate today differently than we did even 15 years ago because of technology and culture.

That is why that you need a powerful “Stopper Question.”

This is a question in home business recruiting that STOPS the person for a second- and makes them think. In today’s world you must get their attention and a Stopper Question does. It has IMPACT and it says that this not just another communication.

Becoming successful will change their minds without any forcing from you.

Home Business Social Media-The 11 Golden Words You Use in Social Media?

Home Business Social Media is:

Conversation.

If you understand social media in home business, you will know that Conversation is the FOCUS and BULLS EYE of social media. Many people think that there are other more important things in home business social media.

Like sales and grabbing for their wallets.

That is why still companies struggle with the arena of social networking. They still are stuck on traditional communication in marketing, not understanding today it is about Conversation and using Magnetic Words that will PULL people into your network amd community.

Conversation- NOT Presentaiton. That does not work today in social media for your MLM home business.

Yep- that is what the core focus is in Home Business Social Media.

Ok- let’s get REAL. If Social Media marketing is about conversation, then should there not be words that fit in to what the culture of social media is all about? Should not you paint a picture with your words? Should your words not elicit feelings and emotions?

Of course they should.

Words are a home business marketer’s tool box. Here are 11 you need

1) “YOU.”

There is nothing more powerful to a person reading a message or conversation that has the word YOU in it, over and over. Many people have an “I” mentality, and in mlm social media, you are not the deal. The other person or side of the conversation is.

There are 2 forms of conversation in social media::

a) “Contribution” and b) “Distribution.”

” Contribution conversations” contribute to the whole, and add Value to the conversation. “Distribution conversation” distributes the message/agenda you want- and has little inclusion of someone else. Contribution words use YOU many times. Distribution words use “I” or ‘Me” many times. Use the word YOU and become a Contribution Agent in social media, not a distribution rookie.

2) “A Person’s Name.”

Duh. There is nothing more beautiful to a person than their name. This is a given. I am surprised how many tweets, notes, and messages I get and also read that do not say the person’s name. Use their name at least once in every communication and message as it adds to the conversation.

And also, a person will retain almost 70% more of what a message says, if their name is within the first 3 words. Chris Brogan is a master at this. I have seen and studied him, and every time he tweets or sends a message- usually the name is the first word.

Smart. VERY smart. we all should follow that lead.

3) “Connection.”

This word is an indication that you want to connect and start a relationship of some kind and create an ongoing conversation. Many folks use the phrase “get together” or “meet up” or “network.” These words are good- but CONNECT has a power within the word.

Electricity us usable when you connect to it. Same thing as a battery in a car which powers the car. And idea is only powerful when you CONNECT to it. The Power is in the Connection-when 2 things come together. It is the same in new relationships- it is all about CONNECTION.

4) “Tribes.’

This is an interesting word. Seth Godin has a cool book called “Tribes.” I suggest that you read it. But as far as a word for the social media arena, it is a word that helps define that you are within the culture and understand the community aspects of what social media is about.

In tribes around the world, it is all about community and belonging to that community. It is the same in social media. Recently I described the community we are building within a project as an “empowered tribe” and some people got it- and well, others did not.

Make sure if they do not understand the concept of tribes, then you explain it.

5) “Transparent.”

In home business social media, being REAL is critical. And part of being REAL is being open and transparent. I love it when I read statements like “full disclosure” and people are disclosing that they have an interest or are on some board of a company they are talking about. THAT is so rocking hot. It shows that they are being transparent and nothing to hide and telling the truth.

And that is what social media is about in many respects- TRUTH about you- and what you are and do. THAT is transparency. Use that word when talking about the truth. Just being “transparent” – that says a lot in one word about you.

6) “Strategy.”

MLM Social media without a strategy for it, is like building a house without a blueprint. You need to develop, plan, start, and execute a strategy for your social media success. We call it a “Social Media Path.” What PATH do you plan on developing for your business, and how will that fit into your current model of business? What will be your Primary social media Platform, and what will be your secondary platforms?

PATH stands for “Purpose- Actions-Tracking-How.” what is your PURPOSE for integrating social media into your home business? Marketing? Prospecting? Client communication? Customer service? What ACTIONS will it take? Videos? Blogs? Podcasts? Social Networking? What TRACKING system will you use to keep the platforms at maximum pace? And HOW are you going to Execute the Actions? Strategy is a word that you just talk about. You need one. And so do others that you know as well.

7) “Branding.”

This word has been around for a while. But you still need it in your focus and communication. Branding is a word that you need to utilize not only in your messages, but your focus as well.

YOU are the Brand is a popular way to discuss social media marketplace image making. But that is not totally true. The PERCEPTION of you is the brand you are building- good or not so good. So make sure that if you use this word in social media this year, you realize that PERCEPTION Rules in Branding.

Brand yourself in the marketplace. But make sure that you focus on the VIEW and FEELINGS people have of you and experience when they think of you and what you do- and not just some catchy slogan or icon.

8) “Trust.”

You need to be an Agent of Trust. Chris Brogan has written a book called “Trust Agents.” It is a rocking hot book. What about you? Are you an Agent of Trust? Just like a Real Estate Agent markets real estate, you market Trust in all you do. That is the real estate of the heart.

I like to get that word out there quickly-as I believe that people i do not know, that is on their mind. “Can I trust this guy?” And I usually message something like, “Our company helps build leaders and businesses through concepts and ideas that people can trust and feel good about.”

THAT is using the word Trust- to build trust.

9) “Family.”

Some people use “network.” Some use “team.” Some use the word “community.” Some use the word “friends.” I like the word “Family.” it is personal, powerful, and paints a picture of what home business social media really is building- a family that can help, be there for each other, educate, equip, and empower for greater good.

One thing that I do- and again- just an idea, I welcome everyone on Facebook or twitter or YouTube or any other social connection with “Welcome to the family!” This says so much more than “thanks for following me” or “appreciate the connection.” We ARE family- and I hope and pray it stays that way.

10) “Value.”

It is ALL about Value. It is all about the VALUE that YOU bring to the table. It is all about the VALUE of your conversations and contributions.

And it is ALL about the VALUE that you help others see within themselves. Edify. Encourage. Empower. And become a “Carrier of Value” to everyone you meet in social media and GIVE some Value to them.

11) “GIVE.”

This is the MOST important word. GIVE. Why? In social media, it is not the same ol business methodology. It is Biblical- if you will. “Give first- and what you give- you reap.” Giving is the culture of Social Media. Why do you think that people give so much rocking hot info on their blogs?

Giving is a Power. It is something that not only is part of the evolving culture of social media, but also the CATALYST of much of what social media has already become. if you are a marketer, New Marketing can be almost threatening to you as it flies in the face of traditional marketing- or does it?

No- not really. It is simply marketing that puts PEOPLE FIRST- not profits. It put RELATIONSHIPS FIRST- not results. And it puts GIVING FIRST- not grabbing for their checkbook.

These are the 11 Critical words that I believe should be included in your:

1) Social Media Philosophy.

2) Social Media Conversations.

3) Social Media Marketing Actions.

4) Social Media Core.

Especially today as the economy is still struggling and appears to be headed nowhere. Network Marketing MLM is one of the more popular options for bringing in additional income to the household.

Network Marketing MLM actually is a type of distribution of products that allows a network of inindependent distributors to sell and market products. They are entrepreneurs and own their own business. They purchase product s wholesale and sell them retail to the masses. This is known as Direct Sales or Consumer Direct sales.

But Network Marketing MLM is different as it has a twist to it beyond just selling and marketing product. We live in a sequenced based world, and we follow a sequence in everything we do. That is why that the process needs to be sequenced, so it can be duplicable. If you cannot duplicate what you are doing, then you will have a hard time building any kind of a long term home business.

A step by step system should include prospecting, recruiting, presneting, following up, closing, and building teams. These are critical to have step by step.

2. Social Media Presence.

In today’s Home Business world, you MUST have a social media presence and training on how to work facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, youtube, Google+, Orkut, and a host of other social media site. This will keep the training up to date with what is happening in the home business profession and keep you on track with your training,

I suggest that you not only train your folks on how to set up accounts, but also step by step on recruiting as well as team building in social media. If you give your oflsk what they need to go out and be social, your home business training will rock.

3. Training done on videos.

This is critical. Many home business companies have training manuals and CDs, and events. But you MUST HAVE videos online in order to really be keeping up with the home business trends. many home based business owners are demanding that they get video based training and if you do not have it, they will either do it themselves, or move on.

It does not take a lot of time to record a training video. But the impact it has is far more than just text training.

4. Tools to Teach.

It will help develop a “feeling” or “Pattern” of what to do and say, and handle any situations that come up. There is no feeling like when a new person “gets it” and understands what they are supposed to do, and how to do it, THEN doing it. It is imperative to Role Play with your new person. It gets them ready for the real thing, in a quick and powerful fashion.

Have them role play in front of their peers in meetings and events. Why? If they can do it in front of their peers with PRESSURE, they will be able to do the tasks easy when it time is time.

in MLM has a hidden power that most are unaware of to help people.

It can be a Change Agent for your life if you let it. Many people think that the MLM or Home Business or Network Marketing profession are for those people that cannot find jobs.

LOL

That is such a myth.

Many professionals from other professions are coming into network marketing because of this hidden power that many home based business professionals use but use unknowingly.

Gravity is such a power. You are influenced by Gravity everyday, but yet you never really are that much aware of it. You really do not spend that much time thinking about it.

It just happens and keeps you from floating away.

It is the same with the Hidden Power of an MLM Home Business.

The other day I was on a three way coaching call and saw this in action and it was really rocking hot to see. I quietly listened taking notes and then when the hidden power was unleashed- wow. It was a game changer.

There are many different “powers” to owning a home business but this one is the one that really helps you along to recruit and to sponsor a lot of folks.

Ok…enough of the babble. What hidden power am I talking about that influences people to enroll in your business?

DISGUST.

Many people are disgusted with what is going on in their life. They are disgusted with their income. They are disgusted with their job. They are disgusted with their recent raise or lack of one. They are disgusted with who they work with. They are disgusted with the lack of power and options they have to change it.

They are disgusted because they think they are POWERLESS to do anything.

That is where you come in.

You are the knight (or princess) in shining armor that is going to do 3 things:

1. Expose the pain.

2. Enlarge the pain.

3. Relieve the pain,

How?

Create a conversation that finds out and Exposes what they are really not happy about in their life.

“What is the one thing you would give anything to change in your life?”

Then Enlarge the pain by observing that the way their life is going, it probably will only get worse.

“Wow. I am so sorry. Do you see much change happening there or maybe it getting worse?”

Then Relieve the pain by offering them a solution to their disgust with options with your business and products.

“I have an idea that I am not sure that it would be for you, but would like to run it past you. It has helped a lot of people move out of the position you seem to be in. Let me explain…”

Home business owner–Which One are You?

There is much talk today about a “recession” and all that goes along with it. Just listen to the radio and watch TV, read the newspaper, and look on the internet.But then, I do not really pay that much attention to any of those, as I know where I stand with this so called “recession.” That is the reason for this home business training.

How about you?

Where do you stand?

How do you feel about it?

What are your plans for it?

If you think about it, there are certain people in the world that will thrive in the midst of all this economic “woe is me the sky is falling” talk.

How about you?

Are you buying into this lockstep economic fear talk?

I know.

You may think that I am crazy, and am not living in “reality.”

But I am. Very much so.

And I am hoping that you will join me after reading this. As you will see, there are options in the world that you may not realize.

I was on the computer this morning, and ran across a screaming new headline, ‘Recession deepens and the world economy is impacted.” Ok. tell me something POSITIVE that will move my life forward, and move my business upward. But alas, as the story went on, the world is coming to a financial crisis that I believe much of it is being manufactured and enlarged by the media.

Why?

Powerful, Super Negative news sell newspapers and broadcast airtime 100 to 1. You read that right. 100 to 1. Ultimately, the media is in BUSINESS to make a profit. And with the lack of profit today with newspapers and TV and radio, there seems to be a major move to SUPER NEGATIVE NEWS so that they can sell more papers and air time to hopefully create more profits.

You may think I am crazy?

Nope- that is the Truth.

So being that as it is, here is my question:

Are you falling for all this “the sky is falling” news? Yes, I known there is a challenge with the economy. I have not stuck my head in the sand. But I know something that may change your thinking about this whole thing – especially in Home Based Business Social Media.

In mlm marketing and home business training, it is called “Strategic Positioning.”

Let me explain.

There are only 2 types of people that are in the world concerning this so called ‘recession:”

1) Those who decide to PARTICIPATE in this “recession.”

2) Those who decide NOT TO PARTICIPATE in this “recession.”

Yes, we all have that choice or decision. But the real secret lies within the word “participate.”

One of the Greek root word definitions for “participate” means “to Position.” This means that you must choose a position – to either Join something- or NOT Join something. To Embrace something-or NOT Embrace something.

To Connect to something- or NOT to Connect to something. ALL those words- “join,” “embrace,”and “connect,” are part of the root word “participate.” All require personal CHOICE or DECISION.

YOU can refuse to participate in this “recession,” and move forward in social media, with a focus that will take your business and life to new heights.

How does that work?

Simple.

Here is an ancient truism; “What your mind focuses on intensely, has a tendency to move your life towards.”

No, this is not some new age psycho-babble. This is an ancient Success Rule- “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Your mind has a tendency to move your life towards people, circumstances, and things that will help create that focus in your life. We do not know how it works, only God does.

But it works.

When you make a decision, it “shifts” something on the inside. People FEEL that shift and respond to it. They FEEL a direction that is more appealing to them than what they have been traveling many times.

Yes, there are the “victims” of the world and like complaining and moaning, but you do NOT have to be a victim. You are not CALLED to be. You are called in Home business Social Media to be on the cutting edge of thinking, and a higher level of belief. So that is where you need to step up to if you have not.

Are you aware there were more Millionaires created during the Great Depression than any other 7 year period in our nations’ history? READ THAT AGAIN.

And this recession will create, birth, spawn a LOT of new wealth – but only to those that SEE IT, RESPOND TO IT, and “GET IT.” It all depends on what you are focused on.

So…with that in mind, if you FOCUS ON this so called recession, your mind somehow will move you towards that focus to create that situation in your life.

If you REFUSE to participate in the recession , your mind will move your life towards something totally different, and lead you to that reality in your life.

How about YOU?

Are you going to participate in this recession?

You do NOT have to. Social Media I believe will develop a different response to this misery, a higher calling above the fray, and a more powerful approach to taking CONTROL of your life, and not BEING CONTROLLED but the media and other people’s opinions.

Home Business Training- The ONE Word You NEVER Say

has come a long way.

Especially in social media and social networking.

A Home based business is truly a business of communication and interaction. I have seen and experienced much interaction on may of the popular social sites and some not so popular.

I have been observing over the last couple of years words in social media and offline that PULL people into the conversation and others that seem to push them away.

I was on facebook today and saw a thread that one of the people was really pushing her skin care line and the other person was pushing to get away for her.

Cannot blame a girl for trying to market, but there is a huge difference between a Conversation and a Presentation. She was doing the latter unknowingly.

In a home business conversation you must watch your words that you say in order not to turn the prospect off.

There is ONE word that seems to be conversation poison for some reason. If you own a home business, I would suggest that you learn what it is, and use it rarely. There are many words out there that are used for MLM but this one seems to slow down any forward movement in a lot of the social conversations I have observed as well as the traditional conversations.

What would that word be?

One used quite often by network marketing professionals.

But not SAVVY network marketing professionals.

What is that word?

COST.

That is ONE word that turns people off silently…and can be deadly in a conversation. I have seen conversations shut down totally from the use of that word. Did not matter if it was social media or in a home meeting.

It can be a KILLER of a word when it comes to a recruit or sale.

Ok…what word should you use? Fair enough.

VALUE.

I used this word for years and still do when talking to people about training or doing live events. It may not make sense to you, but let me explain.

“You asked me how much the fee is to bring me in? The Value would be <amount> per person.”

“You asked what the Value is to be able to be able to get this weight loss product? It would be 97.00”

“This really will end up costing you nothing. The Value of the product is 147.00 but the way that your skin will appear and feel after a couple of days, you will see that the Value is so much more than that.”

Get them focused ON VALUE.

Not cost.

if you do, you will find that many people that would have turned away, will continue to show interest in your MLM and Home Based business.
