MLM Training- 11 Questions You MUST Ask to Help Form Your Personal Brand

mlm home business brand

home business mlm brand

MLM Personal Branding Tips.

Do you know what Personal Branding is and how it would work for your home business?

What does your network marketing home business say when people think about it?

Do you have a logo or a meme for your home business when you are operating your mlm business?

Personal Branding is CRITICAL when you have a home based business or any other kind of business, as it tells WHO and WHAT you are in a very ‘catchy” logo or slogan or both.

We at PassionFire have had a brand wrapped around the word and image of “FIRE” for years, and it is a part of our business culture now.

I have worked with home business companies to help build a brand that accelerates their presence out into the marketplace.

What about YOU?

Lets talk about PERSONAL Branding and what it means to you and to your network marketing home business. I want to also ask you some questions that can help develop or form your Personal Branding Blueprint and it is important that you ask these questions as it will help you FOCUS on what your brand should really FEEL like and LOOK like.

When you think of “branding”- think “branding cattle.”

Ranchers use a hot brand that they brand the cattle as their own, with the ranchers identifying mark, and when the cattle is out in the marketplace, everyone knows whose cattle it is. The brand is “seared’ into the cattle’s hide, and then it stays there.

You must “SEAR a Mark” into the public’s mind and senses with who you are with your home business company, and that mark must be different and people can remember in a very positive light.

Let’s ask a couple of questions:

 1)   What do you want to be known for as far as when people think of you?

This is a critical question as it truly DEFINES the “top of mind” thought for  you in a person’s mind.

2)   What picture do you want people to see when they think of you?

The image a person has for you and your business must be a powerful and memorable one.

Forming Your Brand —  Your UBM:

 “Unique Branding Factor™

Branding is making a decision of who you are and what you are known for in the marketplace.

You need to get away by yourself and really think about who you are and why people should listen to anything you have to say. Forming your brand is being honest, and yet prophetic of who you are becoming in the marketplace and the factors that will determine that.

Here are 11 Questions to ask yourself to start forming what your UBM will look and sound like for your mlm home business:

 1. What makes you unique?

 2. What makes you special?

 3. What makes you magnetic?

 4. What makes you memorable?

5, What do you do that sets you apart?

6, What do you say that people seem to like?

 7. If you could describe you in one word- what would that be?

8. What do people FEEL IN THEIR GUT when they think of you?

9, What do people talk about when they talks about you?

 10. What do people do when they talk to you?

 11. And what ONE THING makes you stand out in a crowded marketplace that you have to offer the world?

These questions will help you start designing a personal brand that will be YOU as well as craft the MESSAGE that you want your PERSONAL BRAND to have for your mlm network marketing home business.

Social Media MLM- 7 Biggest Mistakes Made while Recruiting on Facebook

mlm home business facebook

mlm home business facebook

Facebook MLM Recruiting Social Media.

Are you marketing and recruiting on facebook for your home business?

How much time do you spend a week on facebook prospecting for your network marketing business?

Are you looking to improve your success on facebook concerning prospecting or recruiting in mlm?

Facebook is now the size of a country with more than 900 million people. THAT is a LOT of potential prospects for your home based business. Facebook is still the top dog in social media, although Pinterest, Google+, and twitter and LinkedIn are rocking the social space as well.

The power of facebook is awesome when it comes to connecting to new people. There are a lot of GROUPS on facebook as well that you can belong to that can lead to many new connections.

And Connections RULE on facebook!

BUT!

The RIGHT Connections REIGN.

It is better to get the RIGHT connections- people that are looking for you when recruiting as that makes your job a whole lot easier. With so many people on facebook, you can afford to be somewhat “picky” in your choice of who to connect to.

Are YOU making mistakes with facebook? After being on facebook for nearly 7 years and have done hundreds of trainings on facebook, we have found that there are 7 HUGE mistakes that can kill your facebook recruiting.

I know…you may be unaware that you are making them. But that is ok. That is the reason for this post. We researched this and found there actually are 7 biggest mistakes.

What are the 7 Biggest Mistakes made on facebook?

1) Being TOO Aggressive in getting your message out to people.

Aggression is good in business, but not on facebook. The less aggressive you are, the better in many cases. Yes, you need to be PROACTIVE, but not aggressive. It works against you when re recruiting as well as marketing.

2) Not giving the relationship time to grow before you start the recruiting process.

Pulling the trigger before it is time, is a killer of business. Give your relationships time to grow. You cannot ask someone out for a date, if you have never met them- and get it. 99% of who you ask out would say “I don’t know you.” Same on facebook. Give your new connections time to “bake” in the relationship oven.

3) Inconsistent Visibility.

Being on facebook on occasion will NOT work. You must be visible DAILY for at least 5 minutes. Visibility is part of the “Visible, Viable, Valuable” social media triad. Be visible for credibility sake, as well as marketing sake.

4) Not enough friends being made.

Yep gotta have friends on facebook. What is your Friend Plan? How many friends are you getting DAILY? This blueprint will help you get more and more connected to people on facebook. I always have taught that you send out 10 friend requests a day- at least until you have at least 2000 friends. That is a good start for marketing on facebook and recruiting.

 5) Not establishing yourself as THE EXPERT.

I actually would change that now- and say to position you as THE AUTHORITY. Authority is what activates the experts credentials. Be the “go to person” in your niche and rock people’s worlds with your expertise and AUTHORITY.

6) Not promoting what your friends do. (Like, share, comment)

Be a HUGE Promoter! re-post and like A LOT of things on facebook. Make someone the superstar and feel special by putting the facebook SPOTLIGHT on what they do and create. be a massive “LIKER” and bee seen as someone who PAYS ATTENTION.

7) Not hooking up facebook to LinkedIn, twitter, slideshare, wordpress, youtube, hellotext.com,  and all the other social sites that will send your efforts to facebook.

Simply – AUTOMATE the process and watch your social media following EXPLODE with your mlm network marketing home business.

These are 7 of the biggest mistakes made in recruiting and marketing on facebook. Learn them for your mlm network marketing home business!

5 Out of the box Secrets to building an MLM Prospect List

MLM Training- 5 Secrets to Building a Prospect Recruiting List

mlm home business

mlm list building

MLM List Building Tips.

Are you marketing and prospecting online to build a business for your home business?

Do you compile a list daily and ad to it for your home based business?

What are YOUR secrets to your list building or do you even have any for our mlm network marketing business?

List building is critical if you are going to recruit and prospect online. No matter WHERE online.

But what about EMAIL? Have you considered building a list for your home business from your EMAIL contacts?

Yes…email contacts. And there is no better way to do this for your mlm business then actually putting together an email newsletter or brief. We have one which we mail out several times a week and we have built a large list.

YOU can too- and we wanted to give you 5 ways to do this. I ran across this article and LOVED it.

This was written by Diana Hough.

Here are 5 ways to build a list with email:

Finding new ways to grow an email newsletter list is always a hot topic for email marketers. After all, the bigger your list, the higher the impact on your business.

Chances are, you are already using most of the basic list building techniques, but how about a few “out of the box” tactics from Dianna Huff, marketing communications expert and author of the e-book, 25 Ways to Grow Your E-Newsletter Subscriber List. Here, Dianna shares five techniques, but you can find dozens more in the e- book.

The number one priority of any newsletter publisher is growing the subscriber list.

Why?

The more people who subscribe, the more people you have who are potential customers. However, quality is equally as important as quantity. By “high-quality,” I mean a list of readers who will remain with you for years, people who will eagerly look forward to your newsletter. Below are five tips for growing such a list:

5 Tips for Building a High-quality List That Leads to Sales

  1. When you network, ask people you meet if you can sign them up for your newsletter. The number one cardinal sin in networking is trying to close the sale right after meeting someone new. Rather than push your services, push your newsletter. It’s a great way to have people get to know you on a “trial-basis.”
  2. Contact your professional trade organization for their member list. A few trade organizations provide their chapter lists to members for free while others charge a modest fee for the national list. Once you get the list, send your colleagues a direct mail letter, with your free newsletter being the offer.
  3. Recommend other good newsletters in your newsletter. I’m a firm believer in “sharing the wealth.” If you think your readers would enjoy another newsletter, by all means, recommend it. Usually people are so surprised at being positively noticed, they’ll give you a reciprocal recommendation, resulting in many new subscribers.
  4. For presentations, include your newsletter info on the last PowerPoint slide. That last slide on PowerPoint presentations is valuable real estate. Don’t use it to list only your name and company name. Put your newsletter URL there instead.
  5. Develop a no-cost guide people can download at your site. Offering high-value content on your site is always a good thing. Write a press release about your no-cost guide or report and send it to trade publications. Give people the option of subscribing to your newsletter at the same time they download the guide.

These are 5 powerful ways to build a great prospect list with email for your mlm network marketing home business.

A 4 Step Mobile MLM Recruiting Plan

10 ways the Rich Think Differently then the average

MLM Training- 5 Reasons Why We Don’t Ask for What We Want

home business mlm

mlm home business questions

MLM Training on Asking for the sale.

Do YOU ask for what you want for your home business recruiting success?

Do you hesitate to ask for what you want ever- for your network marketing business?

How does that help or hurt your mlm business?

Asking is the NUCLEAR CORE of OBTAINMENT.

READ THAT AGAIN!

There is NOTHING that will accelerate your business more or faster, then ASKING. So why do we hesitate and NOT ask for what we want?

Here are 5 Reasons Why We Don’t Ask for What We Want and that alone can COST YOU A FORTUNE.

So, why do people stumble when they have an opportunity to ask?

 Five reasons, really:

1. Ignorance.

Many of us don’t know what to ask for. Either we don’t know what is available to us because we have never been exposed to it, or we are so out of
touch with ourselves that we no longer are able to perceive our real needs and wants. And, in many cases, we don’t know who to ask, when to ask, or even HOW to ask.

2. Limiting and Inaccurate Beliefs.

Since our childhood, we’ve been programmed by our parents, and through schooling, religious training and even the media to STOP asking.

3. Fear.

Having learned all about rejection, embarrassment, vulnerability and hurt in our childhood and early adult years, we find it easier to settle for less than deal with the fear that’s resulted from these past experiences.

4. Low Self-Esteem.

Most of us feel unworthy or too inadequate to create the kind of life we want. As a result, we don’t believe our needs and wants are worth pursuing.

5. Pride.

Many of us are convinced we need to do everything for ourselves, or we’ll look foolish or lose respect among our family and peers.

Take Control!

The truth is, when you take control of your life by asking for what you want and need, you can accomplish anything your heart desires. No doubt, you know of people who seem to walk into any situation and any relationship expecting success. They achieve success again and again because they’ve learned – and acted on – one simple truth:

You will reach your goals only with the help of others.

What are common characteristics shared between people who’ve mastered the art of asking?

They know what they want.

They are clear about their vision, purpose and goals.

They believe that what they’re asking for is very possible.

They are passionate about what they are requesting.

They act even when they’re afraid or feel fear.

They learn from experience so that they become better “askers” with every ask.

They are persistent. If at first they don’t receive, they ask, ask, ask until they do.

You can turn your life around, regardless of the obstacles you currently face. Get clear. Get passionate. Take a giant step past that fear. And if
at first you don’t succeed, take this minor setback as a signal to you . . . to ask again for your mlm network marketing home business!

A 4 Step MLM Mobile Recruiting Plan

The Most Powerful Recruiting Tool You Can Use

MLM Training- The Biggest Branding MistakeYou Can Make

mlm branding network marketing

mlm home business network marketing

MLM Social Media Branding.

Are you building a brand for your home based business?

Are you focused on the brand and building a great reputation?

What are you doing to build your network marketing brand in the marketplace?

There are many ways today to build a brand. There are many “brand gurus” out there that can train you on the brand building path. And all are good as you need to build your brand for your mlm business.

What are YOU doing to make sure that you are building a brand that will WORK and be remembered in the marketplace?

Here is an article that I recently read from Smartbriefs, and it really is a great article on branding.

Enjoy!

“Hey! I think that’s the Toilet Paper guy.”

“Who?”

“You know, that book. That Toilet Paper business book.”

“That guy wrote a book about a toilet paper business?”

“No, no. Well, maybe. I don’t know. But I think he’s the author guy of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur.”

“Sounds disgusting.”

“Um, yeah. It kinda does. Let’s go get a beer.”

And with that another potential reader has no idea who I am, has no interest is seeing what else my brand offers and walks away to get a beer or read a book from an author they
recognize or both. I have yet again fallen victim to my own over-branding.

The story first ran in the blog section of the New York Times: How The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur Branded Himself Too Well.” It exposed the critical mistake I made. I created an entire platform around “toilet paper,” from my website to social media to my book title to my consulting work and even my televised business makeovers.

The edgy “toilet paper” name was an attention getter, and it captured the initial eyes I needed to launch my newest endeavor as an author and in building my business growth consultancy. But as my offering expand, that attention getter was hard to break from.

As I finished up my most recent entrepreneur book, The Pumpkin Plan, new prospective readers had no idea who I was and past readers of my first book couldn’t make the connection between pumpkins and toilet paper. It was getting clear I had to take the leap branding
now or forever be The Toilet Paper guy.

Branding Yourself Into a Corner

I am a big fan of Tim Ferris. He is the author of the blockbuster book The 4-Hour Workweek.
With all the tremendous and well-deserved success he has had, I still believe
he branded himself (via his books) into the corner. His “4-Hour” term has grown
bigger than his name.

Don’t get me wrong, Tim’s name is big, too. But his “4-Hour” nomenclature is bigger. His next book was The 4-Hour Body. And from the title, it seemed to imply you had to workout 4 hours a day to get the body you want. Of course, that wasn’t what the book shared, but the success
of the “4-Hour” brand forced the unlikely title (I am assuming here).

His newest book? The 4-Hour Chef. I am sure it doesn’t mean you need to spend four hours a day cooking; it is simply a result of his brand. Over-branding for Tim is not a problem, since he hit the brand out of the park on the first try. For me, it is a different story.

Anything I introduced after The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur has been difficult. Prospects would say “What’s this?” and “Who are you?” only recognizing it was something from me
when I told them I was the Toilet Paper guy.

When I saw what Tim was experiencing coupled with the problems I was already having, I knew my TP brand spelled long-term trouble. On the scale of recognizability, The 4 Hour Workweek is about 1 million times more recognizable than The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. And if Tim is stuck with a brand other than his name, there was no way that I would ever be able to break free of mine. There was no way I was going to gain momentum using TP.

The one thing I had going was that no one knew of me. Meaning I still had a chance to re-brand.

Better Branding

When it comes to being an author, or a real estate developer (think Donald Trump), or an expert in any field, there is a distinct advantage of branding around your name: You can use it in association with all your products and no one can steal the brand from you. Trump Towers, Trump Plaza, Trump Ice (that one went belly up), Trump National—it goes on and on.

Recognizing this, two months ago I made the leap to build a brand around my name. I have a particularly large hurdle since my last name, Michalowicz, has about 700 syllables. In case you are wondering, it is pronounced mi-KAL-o-wits.

But there is magic in hard-to-pronounce names. Once you teach it to someone, and they master it, they feel emboldened to correct and teach others. It becomes its own mini-viral campaign.

So there you have it. The jury is still out, now that I am roughly two months
into my brand shift. You can see on my new entrepreneur website  ways that I am incorporating my name (from the audio button on themhomepage to the mouseovers on the interior pages). And while I am surely not a household name, no one is calling my The Pumpkin guy.

Mike Michalowicz is the the CEO of Provendus Group, a consultancy that ignites explosive growth in companies that have plateaued. He is the author of The Pumpkin Plan and The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. He also maintains an active blog for entrepreneurs.

This is an article about bad branding that has some great tips on how NOT to brand, and beware of that for your mlm network marketing home business. Pick the RIGHT BRAND for you, and one that will work FOR you, not against you in your home based business.

MLM Social Media – Do You Know the Social Recruiting Rule of “ABR”?

mlm network marketing

mlm home business social media

MLM Social Media Recruiting.

Do YOU know the Rule of ABR for your home business?

How do you approach recruiting in social media for your network marketing business?

What is your PLAN for your mlm business conerning social media recruiting?

They is a rule that if followed, will help enhance your productivity and results in the social sphere.

And this Rule is a powerful one IF followed.

Let’s be honest.

We all know that every recruiter, whether a corporate recruiter or home business recruiter,
wants to locate and recruit talent for their business. RESULTS RULE in this profession if you are going to derive revenues from it. It is that simple and bottom line.

If you do not locate and enroll candidates in your home business, you will not be able to
build the success in your business that you desire.

That even goes for CUSTOMERS.

Do NOT make the mistake that most home business professionals do in social media: Ignoring your customers.

That can cost your hundreds of thousands of dollars IN INCOME a year if you are not careful.

Your customers for your products are a “form of a candidate” as you never know in the future when they may show an interest in your business. You never know WHO THEY KNOW. That is why you ALWAYS stay in touch with your customers.

I believe that you should follow the Social Recruiting Tactic of “ABR.”

Always Be Recruiting –especially your customers.

HOW?

Gently. You do not want to turn them off.

Warmly. You want to keep them as possible
referral sources.

Humbly. Make them glad they can help you
find new people to help.

Gratefully.
THIS is a biggie. Thank them EVERY CHANCE you get. Let them know you are
grateful for doing business with you.

Occasionally. You do not want to pressure your
customers. Do not be relentless. Be real, be relaxed, and reassuring.

By sending them thank you emails, cards, social mail, texts, or any other form of powerful communication.

You are always recruiting your customers by following them on facebook and twitter and other social sites.

You are always recruiting your customers by communicating and commenting on their posts and updates.

You are always recruiting your customers by sending them “thank you” e-cards and even thank you cards via snail mail.

You are always recruiting your customers by being ‘in conversation” with them in any format or any social site. Join the ones they are on and follow their friends.

You are always recruiting your customers in social media by sending them little known tips and information that will make their experience with your products and services more powerful.

NOTE: You are always recruiting your customers for JOINING YOU or REFERRING TO YOU someone that will be a high quality candidate.

No matter what, always be recruiting for your mlm network marketing home business.

7 Powerful ways to Open Up a Recruiting Conversation

MLM Training- 4 Step Mobile Recruiting PLAN from a # 1 Corporate Recruiter

mlm home business mobile

MLM Mobile Recruiting Secrets.

What do you think of Mobile Recruiting for your home business?

Do you own a smart phone for your mlm business?

How would you start the recruiting process using a mobile in your network marketing or direct sales business?

I believe that Mobile Recruiting will become the single most powerful way to recruit in a home business within the next 5 years. We have done Mobile recruiting webinars, and coaching as well. Mobile Recruiting is going to be HUGE.

Here is a 4 step Mobile Recruiting Plan that a # 1 Corporate recruiter for a National Recruiting Firm out together and we wanted to share it with you:

Here is the conversation that took place:

D  So let’s talk about what you call one of the most powerful Recruiting phenomenon in Corporate Recruiting- Mobile Recruiting and Mobile Marketing. Think Mobile Marketing has a prayer for success?

S  <laughing> Everything has a prayer. Just some have a bigger return on the prayer and I believe that Mobile Recruiting is changing the face of Corporate
Recruiting as well as your profession-the home business person. I believe that
if done correctly, Mobile Recruiting can accelerate the process of recruiting a tremendous amount. Everywhere I read as well as my industry’s experts, all say that this is the coming wave and they all are saying to get on the band wagon.

D But you have been mobile recruiting now for what? 3 years?

S  Yes, 3 years. And it really has made a difference in my ability to stay in touch with my candidates. Connection is so important in recruiting and it helps me stay more connected as it gives me an extra “Power Reach” as I call it.  Let me explain. Mobile recruiting gives me the power to reach my clients in a way that was not available even 4 years ago. It allows me to also reach those potential candidates with a channel or technology that they are used to looking at literally hundreds of times a day.

This allows me more connection power than email or even social networking. It gives me entrance into their daily routine and it is so much more powerful to meet them where they are versus chasing them via the phone. I have numerous candidates that right now have been doing all of their job searching effort via their mobile devices as it is so much more convenient. Now let’s be real, that is a smaller percentage than those who we have connected with via job boards, monster, hotjobs and those kind of sites. But we have a growing percentage of those that ask for a text or text them a link to the company website they might want to consider.

This once again accelerates the pace and speed of recruiting overall. It really does make an impact as well when you start showing you are in the Mobile
world. Many candidates like that fact as it shows that we are in the up to date
mode and not one of the ol fogey corporate recruitment firms.

There are many of them out there as well as more traditional home business companies. I am going to make a prediction: If a company within the next 18 months does not embrace mobile recruiting and mobile marketing, they will be left behind in the dust. I promise you that as they will be playing catch up for a long time.

D:  What do you think is the most important element in Mobile Recruiting?

S:  Oh that is easy. Strategy. You must have a cohesive marketing and recruiting strategy behind your mobile recruiting. You must have  PLAN that works and works every time. I have a plan with my mobile recruiting and it is a pretty simple plan.

 1. P stands for PUSH.

I want to push a message out daily to the prospects I have that may be a
candidate in the making for a company I represent.

 2. L stands for LOOK.

I want the prospect to LOOK at my message and there is no better way and no
quicker way then mobile recruiting. Of course I want to have something that
will grab their attention as well.

 3. A stands for ACTIVATE.

I want the prospect to TAKE ACTION on something and that is why I offer a free
ebook to the mobile prospect to get their name and email. I want them to be
activated and already moving towards me when I contact them. I want them to
KNOW who I am and start building a relationship IMMEDIATELY. A free gift of
some kind starts that process.

 4. N stands for NAVIGATE.

I want to Navigate the prospect to a webinar or video of some kind. This will
introduce the company I am representing and the position. In a home business
scenario I would think this would be an introduction to the business.

These are what I do daily. Mobile recruiting is much like fishing. But you must have a lot of lines in the market and once you get a strike, you will find they are already in the recruiting process with their mobile device.

D:  Do you think that Mobile Recruiting will be as big as recruiting on social media?

S : Yes, I do. It will take a couple of years to create a solid marketing and recruiting model, but once it has been solidified, it could very well take over the social media recruiting frenzy.

D: Ok, here is an obvious question: why do you think that way?

S: Oh that one is so easy to answer. Speed. The pace of recruiting with a mobile device is so much faster then social networking. On a mobile, you have the prospect in the recruiting process within seconds. With social media it could take a week or 2 or longer. There is certainly  a LOT of recruiting going on in social media, but speed can hinder to some degree.

The pace of mobile recruiting as far as getting them in the recruiting process can be as fast as lightening. The mobile user is use to opening up a text quickly, and if they opt in for a free ebook, then you have them in the recruiting process within seconds. THAT is much more appealing to the younger generation as they operate at that pace.

D: One final question about mobile recruiting before we take a break. What do you
believe is THE secret to mobile recruiting success?

S: Hmmm…..good
question. Hmmmmm….<thinking>    Doug, I would say if there is one thing that really matters- it is IMPACT. Your message and mobile website must create a visual and actional impact that will get the prospect to DO something and not just click away. It needs to be visually appealing and full of hope. I think it should ask a question and also LEAD them somewhere. That is the real thing that people are looking for. Often, people want to be lead down a path and if you have an impact-ful mobile site, then you will find them engaging that site right off the bat.

I always ask “Are you looking for a job or for a secure high paying future?”  I would suggest that might be something that your people may use. But say it like…hmmm…”Are you looking for a high paying future of more of the same thing you have now?” These are the type of things that pull people into your website.

I would also suggest that they ask, “Are you looking for a high paying secure business from home or more of the rut you are in now?” I know. That is a bit blunt, but you must sometimes be blunt to get their attention.

And one more would be, “ Are you satisfied with where you are career wise or would you be open to a high paying future that you control and manage?” This is what I believe would work, and I have been recruiting for a while as you know. I hope this will help your readers and folks.

D: Wow.
Those are rocking hot!  Thanks for sharing those golden nuggets bubba.

The Single Most Powerful tool for your MLM Success

MLM Training- LinkedIn Recruiting Tactics of a # 1 Corporate Recruiter

mlm linkedin recruiting

mlm home business linkedin

MLM Recruiting on LinkedIn.

Do you ever use LinkedIn for your recruiting in your home business?

Have you established yourself on LinkedIn for your mlm business?

What do you know about LinkedIn that would help your business and recruiting in network marketing?

LinkedIn is a GOLD MINE for recruiting and I have had the great pleasure of working with the # 1 Corporate Recruiter for a National Recruiting Firm. And he LOVES Linkedin and recruiting on social media.

And he and I have had a lot of conversations about recruiting on LinkedIn and how his profession and the home business profession are a lot alike-and in some ways- different.

He used LinkedIn daily to recruit and recently he and I sat down and talked over dinner and there were some real revelations regarding LinkedIn recruiting.

I recorded the conversation and then had it transcribed and wanted to share it with you today…

So here is what was said:

Doug  So let’s talk about LinkedIn…..How do you feel about LinkedIn as a social site?

Scott  “ LinkedIn is one of the most powerful places on the internet. It is unlike any other site out there. There are other good sites that many professionals can hang out, but LinkedIn is in a class all by itself.

The first time I was on LinkedIn, I realized that this was something potentially that could be a Recruiting Gold Mine. My associates just laughed at me. But they are not laughing at me or kidding me now. They use to call me the “linkboy” as I was so sold on LinkedIn and social media. They were not even remotely interested. It took some time to swing them over to my side of the fence, but they eventually got it and joined me on the social sites.

I knew that there was something special about LinkedIn. And this was something that had not even been discovered yet by other corporate recruiters. I knew that if I was one of the first ones in, I could dominate.

And that happened about 2009. It really took off and it has been soaring ever since. LinkedIn is driven by one passion with professionals:  TO NETWORK. That is what makes it so special. It is a gold mine for networking with professionals. It is a one of a kind “Social Real Estate” as I call it and I think that anyone in home business should be on it as there are an unlimited number of possibilities on it for recruiting.

I think that if someone really takes the time to do what you and I have put together for their home business, they will see some dramatic growth over time. It may happen quickly, or it may take others a while but I do believe that it will happen. I have been so fortunate to have had the success that I have had, and anyone can make it happen. But it must be a consistent relentless effort.

D  No one is as relentless as you cowboy.

S  <laughing>  I am pretty committed that is for sure. But come on, you are one to talk. I try and keep up with you!

D  Yeah right. You are the recruiting machine here, not me.

< both laughing>

D What weakness do you see with LinkedIn?

The only inherent weakness I see is that they may not keep up with the demands of the professional. So far they have done very well, and they may continue to do so. But the business world changes rapidly as well as social media. LinkedIn cannot afford to get a slow hand mentality and not stay ahead of the game. Especially with their line up of professionals. They have done a good job so far, and I imagine they will continue to do so. I also think that they could possibly add a function for webinars that would be awesome and I have submitted a request for that. We will see what happens.

D What is your favorite tool for recruiting on LinkedIn?

I LOVE the events tool. I attend a lot of events to meet and greet. That is how I have met some of my best candidates. Yes we do get leads from monster, as well as other job sites, but finding that golden treasure of a recruit just by meeting them, is so great. I look at the events in my area as well as the industry that I am recruiting for. If I can attend an event that is not in my area to network, I
often will. It is well worth the cost.

But I have what I call the “Rule of the Local Event:” If I am living, I will be there. It is that important to me. I have met folks on LinkedIn and then met them locally and it has been amazing how many candidates that I have place with that one – two punch. I feel that if a home business owner can attend as many local events as possible and follow the  secrets you share in LinkedIn  Recruiting University,  they will recruit a lot of people into their team. The events search tool is something I am constantly using for my business, and has proven to be a great lead source. And I do mean great. And it is especially great if that event I need to be at is local and I can make it.

I send the attendees a note saying I am going to be there, and would like to connect with them and talk marketing. And more often then not, I meet the people, connect with them, and get referrals from them usually first off, and some eventually ask me to help them to find a new position or career.”

D  What is your secret to your Success on linkedIn?

Oh that is simple. I understand the Psychology of LinkedIn. It is not that hard to nail down. One word describes the culture, belief, philosophy, and process of LinkedIn:

 Professional.

That is all that you need to know to create major success in recruiting in LinkedIn. You must be professional in every aspect of your presence and actions on LinkedIn. That includes your inmails, posting, articles, comments, invites, group communication, answers or replies, and any other action you take. If you do not brand yourself as a Professional with LinkedIn, then no one will take you seriously.

I have seen some people get on LinkedIn and be less than professional, and be aggressive in the groups and events recruiting, and they were literally banned from the group.

To be branded as a professional, you need to do three things:

 1. You need to GIVE more than you take.

Create messages that will teach and transform and knowing that you will get nothing from it. I have helped lot of folks in their job search that I never met through the articles and posts that I have done in the recruiting groups and events.

2. You need to pass along the good information.

Be seen as a great resource. This alone will brand you as a professional.

 3. Take the time to get to KNOW people, not just broadcast to them your latest tweet or article.

I try and take the time to create a connection that will grow into a possible
referral down the road, or even that person asking me to transition them into
another career or position.

D.  If there was ONE Secret to your LinkedIn success as a recruiter, what would it be?

S  Hmmmmmmm……good question. Let me think here. I believe if there was one thing that has really made a difference in my LinkedIn success, it would be visibility across the spectrum of LinkedIn. I join groups, I write articles and record videos, I attend local and virtual events, I comment. I do all the things that are going to keep me visible daily to my network.

The reason I am such a fanatic about that is because I want them to think of me when they one day decide they need a recruiter to help them find a job. I want them to think that I am one of the best as I am so often seen on social sites. And that perception will come from people seeing me all the time giving, contributing, and making a difference in the life of folks that are looking for some help in their job pursuit.

D  Any last words on this subject?

Yes, Constantly be adding new connections. Daily. Accept every connection request and always be asking people to connect with you on LinkedIn on other social sites. This alone will make a huge difference in the number of  connections you have.

MLM Woman Success.

Are you looking for the secret to becoming a powerhouse in the home business profession?

Does increasing your power sound like it could help your network marketing business?

Would you like to know a secret that someone ran across that most successful women have in common?

This article came from Forbes magazine, one of my favorite magazines, and it really rang true in what it said. take a read and then think about what it says regardless of whether you are a man or woman. You can Read More about this article that will rock both genders in the pursuit of Success.

Here is the Forbes article:

Michelle Gass, a president and recognized innovator at Starbucks, wakes up every morning at exactly 4:30 and goes running. When she travels, she brings her running shoes. She’s started her day like this throughout her 15-year tenure at the coffeemaker, rising from a team of just three to today managing 33 foreign countries. Her up-and-at-‘em routine, she believes, boosts her personal happiness and business success. “When I’m at my best, it’s because I’m taking care of myself,” Gass told me. “Morning runs clear my mind.”

As many of the world’s most powerful women have discovered, rising before the sun is more than just a personal bonus—it’s an edge in a business environment.

Avon chief Andrea Jung wakes up at 5 a.m., hits the gym and is at her desk by 8. Newswoman Ann Curry is out of bed at 3:45, and longtime Vogue editor Anna Wintour is on the tennis court by 6.

In fact, research shows that early birds really do get the worm.

A 2008 study at the University of North Texas found that students who identified as morning people earned significantly higher grades. Similarly, biologist Christoph Randler found last year that early risers are more likely to anticipate problems and be proactive, which multiple studies have linked with better job performance, greater career success and higher wages.

Studies have also correlated early-rising larks with character traits like optimism, stability and conscientiousness. And while night owls are associated with greater levels of creativity and intelligence, they are also more likely to exhibit pessimism, depression and neurotic behavior.

“If success is determined by high engagement, arousal and getting a lot done, larks have an advantage,” says Glenn Brassington, a psychology professor at Stanford and Sonoma State universities.

He adds that waking up early may provide some practical business benefits as well: standardized tests and job interviews are often scheduled in the morning; West Coasters are more alert for the East Coast stock exchanges; and American businesspeople are better able to coordinate with European clients that are hours ahead.

Lynne Sarikas, director of the MBA Career Center at Northeastern University, says being the first one in the office everyday is her “secret weapon.” Not only does she gain an hour advantage over colleagues, she says that quiet time is the most productive in her day.

“Without interruptions, I am able to plan and spend some quality time on my top priorities,” says Sarikas. “On days where the meetings stack up back-to-back it is important to have that initial think-time to prepare and organize for the day ahead.”

Early rising also means a built-in block of exercise time, which pays dividends in the boardroom. Besides fitness, a vegan vitamin d3, regular exercise boosts mood, focus and energy levels.

When asked about her before-dawn gym habits, Avon’s Jung told The Sunday Times: “I try to be disciplined. If I don’t do it early, it falls off the schedule.”

Perhaps ironically, getting up earlier also creates healthier sleep patterns. According to psychiatrist Tracey Marks, author of Master Your Sleep, going to sleep early and waking early—while getting the suggested seven to nine hours—syncs the body clock with the earth’s natural circadian rhythms, which is more restorative than trying to sleep while the sun’s up. And if you’re getting out of bed to exercise, that’s even better for sleep. If you have a severe or extensive injury that’s preventing you from working out, you can visit qckinetix.com/kansas-city/ for treatment.

That’s certainly true of MaryAnne Gilmartin, a real estate developer leading the $4 billion Atlantic Yards project in New York, who also managed construction of the New York Times new 1.6 million-square-foot headquarters. She wakes at 6 a.m. “to get an hour before everybody else pops out of bed,” but she also admits, “I do my best work after 11 p.m.” Why? “There aren’t enough hours in the day.”

Gilmartin explains, “I put in a full day, and then I come home and I am a mother to my three children—and really, that’s my finest work. For me, the heavy thinking and processing comes in the quiet hours after the kids have gone to bed.”

According to psychiatrist Marks, female executives are especially susceptible to “responsibility overload,” or feeling they need to do the heavy lifting both at work and at home. Her advice is to outsource as much work as possible—via delegation at the office or hired help at home—and to go to bed early if you plan on waking early.
