Have you ever gotten the response, “What is it?” for your home business?

What did you say when someone asked that question regarding your network marketing business?

Would you like to know some ways to handle that questions for your mlm?

Many questions will stump distributors and one of the biggest is “What is it?” There are other questions as well, but this one looms large in many team members minds. It often shuts down the distributor from moving forward, as they simply do not know how to answer it.

Even on social media and mobile media, many people ask this question and have no idea how to answer it. Some say things that totally work against them. And it frustrates the new distributor and eventually even discourages that person.

I can remember when I first heard that question. I was stumped and had no clue of what to say. I tried to stumble through it, but found out that does not work. ever. I asked my upline, and they had no clue either. One told me in 1990, “Whatever you do- don’t tell them it is network marketing!”

“Good grief” as Charlie Brown would say. If you are that ashamed of being in this great profession- GET OUT and STAY OUT of it. You give the profession a black eye, just like Realtors who try and scam people as well as Insurance sales people. it does not good to try and hide the truth as the fact that it IS direct selling and a home business- is INCREDIBLE.

So what can you say about this question….?

 1. “That is a great question!  It would take me about five minutes to tell you about it.  All I can tell you is that it’s a business that has changed my life. I would like for you to listen to a brief conference call/CD/DVD  -or- View a short online video or webinar– featuring one of our top people who is very successful. She’s an expert and says it better than I ever could! (Give them the number and time.).”

2.  “You know, that is a great question… but I would rather you see it through your own eyes than mine.  That is what I am looking for… an honest, unbiased opinion.  We’ll talk after the (conference call, Luncheon, appointment, viewing the online video etc). Is that fair?”

 3. “It is the most amazing thing- a product that <Biggest BENEFITS>  that I can actually market out of my home. Have you ever considered owning your own business- working out of your home–or run across a business model called NETWORK MARKETING?”

4.  “I’ll let you decide that… here… listen to/look at this CD/DVD  or watch this online video on my mobile- it is only 2 minutes long”

One of the greatest challenges of leadership is managing time, a limited resource that has to be used with the utmost care and consideration. Especially in the buolding of a home business that seems to always attract distractions. if you are woking from home, there can be many.

As the saying goes, there are only so many hours in a day“, and the leader must be able to stay focused on those tasks and activities that truly matter.

That task is complicated by the daily presence of many distractions that the leader must avoid, lest putting themselves (and their company) in jeopardy.

There are three distractions that are particularly dangerous for your home based business:

The “Bright Shiny Object.”

It’s a new product, a new project, or a new partner, a new training or concept that catches your eye.  It’s sounds really cool, and there’s probably a lot of buzz going on about it in the corridors and the field, and probably even in the business pages.

The problem is, it’s not really right for you or the company, or it’s a very long shot for success.  But it’s really cool!  So you devote a lot of time on it, at the expense of other, more viable and profitable things. WASTING TIME!

The “Black Hole.”

You have committed a lot of effort and money to a particular project or new idea and you are trying to guide it to a successful conclusion.  Trouble is, about 25% of the way in it becomes pretty clear that things aren’t going well (and you are going overboard), and you face a decision – pull the plug now (with all the resulting hand wringing and blame from your downline), or, ask for more money and trudge on.

You choose the latter, and enter the black hole – pressing dangerously on in the hope that somehow, someway it will get pulled out in the end. But it rarely does.

The “Fire Drill.”

The phone rings, and it’s your sponsor or upline or corporate.  He saw a blog post yesterday from an unhappy team member or customer – it was a pretty ugly one, but when you dug into it the day before it appeared to be an isolated case that could be routinely handled by you no sweat, since you had set up a protocol for cases exactly like this one.

Your upline looks at it differently – it’s a complete breakdown of customer service or accessibility that needs an extensive review and discussion.   You then start the fire drill – two days of phone calls, e-mails, and meetings involving many members of your team, devoted to that single blog post.

These kind of distractions CAN be avoided.    It’s all a matter of leadership perspective – that ability to take a step back, and “see” the bigger picture.   It also requires something else that is even more essential –

Courage.

The courage to put down a bright shiny object in the face of all that “coolness”.

The courage to stop a black hole project dead in its tracks and take the heat.

And, the courage to tell your boss you will not conduct a fire drill because of a single and isolated incident.

Perspective and courage are your best tools for time management – use them well, and wisely.

And one more thing – beware of that smartphone too; lots of bright shiny objects there.  Believe me, I know….  :-)

You’ll have a better chance of getting a ghostwriter that is capable of meeting your job requirements if you are crystal clear in what you need. Be very clear in what your time
requirements are. There is no use hiring someone only to find out they can’t get your ebook done in 3 weeks, if that is when you need it done.

2. Ask for samples.

Make sure that their writing style compliments your tone. If you want a conversational tone, but all of their samples are very formal, they’re probably not a good fit.

3. Don’t be afraid to narrow down and ask for an interview.

Remember, you’ll be working closely with this person and they will be your voice. Narrow it down to 3 people and ask for a brief conversation on the phone or via Skype. See which one best suits your tone.

4. Set clear milestones.

Let your ghostwriter know what you expect in the way of milestones. Be flexible enough to allow for changes, but set clear milestones in the beginning that you are both shooting for.

5. It’s as important that you meet your milestones as you expect them to meet theirs.

6. Start with an outline.

This next part really depends on your topic, your knowledge, and the job posting requirements. Have you stated that the ghostwriter will have to do research themselves? Or will you be giving them the information? Here are some of your choices:

  • Have your ghostwriter do  the research and writing
  • Send your ghostwriter  the info you have gathered and have them polish it

I have found dictation to be an increasingly effective way for authors to work with their ghostwriters. Most business owners have the knowledge in their head and don’t mind speaking it; they just don’t know how to make sense of it on paper. That is what a good ghostwriter will do well. Let them to do what they’re good at!

Many people view mobile recruiting as not quite ready yet and will be 2 years from now. To some degree they are correct, but Mobile Recruiting today is making HUGE strides in gaining acceptance in the home business profession for recruiting. ViSalus and Vemma both use mobile technology today for recruiting and marketing their products, and your company should as well if they are not.

Here are some Mobile Recruiting Tools that will help you form a home business recruiting perspective that also work for corporate recruiting. This was written partly by a good friend who is the # 1 corporate recruiter for a national firm and myself.

Another top tip is to use cloud based employee monitoring to keep an eye on what your staff are doing as you can imagine that some are not doing what they should be…..

There are great tools available for mobile recruiting on the web and lets take a quick peek a them and see what they are about:

Mobile Web.

One of the first mobile internet options was that of the mobile web. Mobile started out as a simple text form of the internet using WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) technology and has evolved into a tool that challenges regular web browsing in effectiveness. With
more than half of all cell phone users hooked up to the mobile net, this option seems to be one to look at for recruiting.

There are many vendors who offer mobile web services for clients. These vendors take a client’s .com web page and translate the content into a .mobi or m.website.com format so that mobile web browsers are better able to navigate the pages.

Looking out on the web today, only a small number of organizations are using .mobi. A couple of job boards have taken a stab at .mobi. CollegeRecruiter.mobi and EngineeringJobs.mobi are the two easiest to find sites.

There does not seem to be any US or European recruiters using .mobi yet. However, South African recruitment consultancy, Trudy Q has a nice mobile site. TrudyQ.mobi allows job seekers to search and view the consultancies open vacancies. Stalwart of social media recruitment innovation, KPMG New Zealand also has a great .mobi option.

Many home business owners are starting to also get their own mobile website by “mobilizing” their current website and it truly make a difference as even Google gives you preference to SERPs if you have a mobile version of your site.

SMS / Text Messaging.

SMS offers recruiters a couple of great options to find talent. SMS is most often used to
drive direct response to recruitment advertising. HR consulting firm, Hewitt, made the biggest splash in 2009 for SMS recruitment. The firm partnered with Recruit2Mobile to host a direct response SMS campaign.

Job seekers who saw one of several recruitment advertisements were encouraged to text HEWITT2 to 88000 from their mobile devices. They were then sent a text message with a link to a mobile optimized page with a list of the current Hewitt job openings.

On the other side of SMS is the ability to apply to jobs using text. As a CEO Shravan Gupta said that Indian job board Naukri gives job seekers who search vacancies on their mobile devices the chance to instantly apply for openings via a text command.

Applicants first register a resume on the .com version of the site. Then when they see a job they like on the mobile portal, they select to apply to the job using the resume they have stored. For jobs that are highly competitive, being able to apply instantly from wherever you are gives mobile job seekers an advantage by being first in the application queue.

SMS is also great for using for home business as it can get a person engaged in the recruiting process within SECONDS versus days or weeks. An SMS text can take them with a link, to a video about your company and also about YOU. This is a QUICK way to get someone to view your information.

Click to Call.

This is a link or an image that when you click on it,you can make a call. Usually for mlm recruiting, you link the click to call number to a voice mail and on the message is a short message about a free sample or invite them to a webinar. You can leave a longer message about your business on the click to call message, but it will have a lot of hang ups as we have found in the usage of it.

Click to call or “tap to call” images and links are used in SMS as well as mobile website images and can get a LOT of folks listening to your message about your home business quickly.

Barcodes /QR codes

One technology a little slower to take off is that of barcodes or more accurately QR codes. QR stands for “quick response” and is akin to SMS when it comes to marketing or recruiting. A QR code is a square, black and white image that when photographed using a mobile
phone camera and reviewed by a QR program, sends a mobile user a predefined
response…usually a URL, phone number or opens the mobile browser to a webpage.

It has only been recently that QR has started gaining steam. The first iterations of the technology didn’t ever get backed by a big user base. QR though has been propped up by Google, so it looks like this type of barcode will become mobile standard.

To integrate QR into a recruitment strategy, companies can create campaigns similar to what Hewitt did with SMS. However instead of using SMS, the campaign would encourage mobile
users to scan the QR for more information.

Home Business owners can integrate QR codes on their business cards, brochures, flyers, invites, trainings, and other printed material as well as your website for obtaining more info about YOU and your opportunity.

One topic that does not get a lot of attention within the social recruiting landscape is that of
mobile.

I think mobile recruiting gets looked over for several reasons.

1. There is a perception that it is expensive and you don’t get much return.

2. Some think it gives job seekers nd prospects a less-than-favorable impression of the company using this method in the application or enrollment process.

3. Others just don’t know where to begin or what mobile can do for their recruitment efforts.

Why is mobile important in your social media strategy? For one thing, it’s everywhere…literally.

Here are a few stats:

• By 2020 mobile will be the primary means of connection to the internet

• The use of mobile extends the reach of the largest websites by up to 13%

• 87 million Americans have internet services on their mobile phone

• 53% (or more) of U.S. cell phone users text from their devices

• Lastly, there are more mobile devices than there are computers*.

Mobile can give organizations a way to separate their career opportunities from the rest of the pack. It extends a company’s recruitment message outside of traditional (and non-traditional) recruiting means. Mobile also gives you reach into the world of the ever elusive passive job seekers as well as the tech-savvy entry level job seeker.

How To

Mobile recruitment is not one tool or trick. There are many ways to use mobile in your recruitment efforts. Just like in choosing the right social media site, choosing the right
mobile tool is also vital to your success. Recruiters can recruit using apps, the .mobi domain platform, barcodes and scanning, SMS services or a mixture of these options. Let’s look at APPS.

Apps.

The most recognized tool in mobile advertising / productivity today is that of the app. Once only an option on the iPhone, apps have become the go-to for pretty much all of the
smartphone platforms.

Today, users of Windows Mobile and Google Android phones have access to apps for their particular phones via apps markets powered by their respective phone platform. As you would imagine, there are a handful of job seeker tools offered at no cost on the iPhone platform. With over 8 million iPhone users in the U.S., it makes sense that all the attention for recruiting apps is for this phone.

Three of the most popular iPhone job seeker tools come from CareerBuilder, LinkedIn, Snag-a-Job, and Craigslist who offer regular site functionality to users through the app portal.

However, due to the perceived cost of developing an app, only a couple of employers themselves have fielded recruitment apps. But there are sites like CollectiveRay where you can find the best sites to hire mobile app developers. Three that come up in a simple apps search are from AT&T, Raytheon, and Deloitte. What we see is that these are all three very large companies that do a high volume of recruiting.

(You can develop your own home business recruiting system and app if you choose to featuring your recruiting videos and also your blog and website. Check with your company about what they suggest.)

Above I mentioned that there is a perceived high cost to develop an app. The question is probably more accurate that of an ROI argument. Does it take sense for a small or medium sized company to invest a lot of money to create a recruitment app if they only plan to hire / recruit 20 people in a given year? (Multiply that with a downline.)

Does your company have enough brand recognition that smartphone users are going to be compelled to download your app? These are better questions to ask when looking at an app strategy.

Are you aware that Santa had to recruit his elves for his home based business?

Do you know that there are thousands of elves that work for Santa’s Networking business?

Do you want to know some lessons we can learn from the elve’s about mlm recruiting?

HO HO HO!

Those are the sounds we hear from Santa every year during this time, and the holiday season. But there are things that we can learn from Santa and the elves concerning recruiting! LOTS of secrets to how Santa recruits his elves every year to continue building his North Pole home business. He has many elves that work with him, and they are all RECRUITED by Santa.

Ok.

What are some of the lessons we can learn from the elves about the art of recruiting elves? We have researched this diligently, and talked to Santa as well.

After our interview with the Old Guy, and interviewing over 100 elves while we were at the North Pole, we have come up with 5 secrets of recruiting we can learn from  the elves. Santa’s secrets of recruiting will be next post.

Here are 5 MLM Recruiting lessons we can learn from Santa’s elves:

1. It’s Not about what the Elf/Prospect Looks Like.

Elves are short, chunky, fat, skinny, smart, dumb, and cranky. And those sometimes are the good traits. To look at an elf, you would not even think they would ever be able to build or craft anything. But yet….Santa saw beneath the exterior and knew there was a gold mine inside of them.

Whatever a prospect looks like, there is a potential gold mine inside of them. Never judge a book by it’s cover. Or the funny costumes they may wear. Or the height of them either.

Talk to the unlikely prospect and do not be surprised if they are different then you first thought. You may be talking to a future million dollar earner.

2. It does not matter if they have never built a toy before. It’s about the Desire to DO IT.

Most elves, according to Santa, have never built a toy before. They have to learn. But he did say that it’s more about the DESIRE to build and do a great job, then just craft a toy.

So experience is not that important, but DESIRE to excel is. Santa said he looks for AMBITIOUS elves, not ambiguous. Santa has one question he asks the elves:

“How important is it to you to help little kids have a great Christmas morning?”

Ok…‘How important is is to you Ms. Prospect to help people you know have a great 2013?’

3. Listen to HOW they say it, not just WHAT they say.

Santa says that when he is recruiting elves, he listens to the ENERGY in an elve’s words, not just meaning. Energy, according to Santa, displays a real excitement and focus on moving the elve’s life forward, and the toys they are going to build forward as well.

Santa told us that if an elf displays any kind of lack of energy or lack of connection to his conversation, he then turns the conversation into a different conversation. “I start asking them who they know that would fit the requirements and then I talk to them about keeping in touch with them and maybe even buying a few toys for their family if they have an elf family.”

Check the prospect’s ENERGY about what you are saying. According to Santa, that is a CORE element of a successful toy builder prospect.

4. Never talk DOWN to an elf, no matter how short.

Santa says that talking down to an elf will make them quit listening and you will lose them as a future toy builder. Santa says that he finds out where the elf is in life and then starts THERE to recruit them.

“Some elves have had a hard time the last couple of years and I am not going to put them down for that. I want to show them that they have lots of potential and they can make a huge difference in a child’s life if they simply apply themselves. It works out for most. Some it does not, but that is part of recruiting for toy builders.”

No matter where a prospect is in life- START THERE and empathize with them. Encourage them and lift them up. Find something GOOD about their potential  they may not be aware of. What would they LOVE to be doing with their life? Then share with them how you can help make that happen – by working with you and building a life by helping people and getting paid for it.

5. An Elf may not be able to Reach the Reindeer’s Antlers, but he can Feed it.

Santa says that no matter the giftings of an elf, they must ALL be preparing for the Christmas Eve extravaganza. This requires the ability do what you can, with what you got, to get the job DONE.

Santa says that he asks them what the elf feels is their strongest point about their abilities and personality, Then  he ask them what one thing should they improve on. That question shows me where I have to start the education process for toy building, or feeding the reindeer, or taking care of the toy inventory. But all elves understand the GOAL we all are working towards, and if one task is not possible, there is always another one waiting they CAN do.

If a prospect is not good at talking with people face to face, but is savvy on the web- then show them them how they can build a business via social media and mobile recruiting.  If a prospect is not good at speaking in public but could kill a webinar – that is the path you share with them.  Discuss with what they CAN DO- and then teach them along the way once they have enrolled, what they MUST do to Succeed.

This is all of the utmost importance in generating fresh leads.

As the Sales and Marketig Leader of your team, you have high expectations for Marketing to deliver.  Are you prepared  to defend yourself if Marketing places the same accountability on you?  Don’t  get stuck with a team incapable of leveraging the tools of Sales 2.0.

  • 82% of the world’s online population is reached via social media according  to ComScore.
  • 75% of B2B buyers anticipate that social media will likely influence a
    future purchase.
  • 65% of B2B organizations are already utilizing social media and “social
    selling”

Is this something that you’ve undertaken at your organization? If not, you’re  officially behind the times. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Twitter – Is your company blog linked to each Distributor’s Twitter page? Do
    your AEs / Distributors post about your offerings? Do they post to solidify themselves (and  your organization) as a thought leader in the industry? All of these actions
    contribute to your AEs /distributors developing their own following. From that following they  can then find prospects.

    With Twitter, instead of reaching a few hundred  prospects, you can reach a few thousand. Establish your organization as the authority from the get-go. In addition, your team can monitor potential  prospects. This can provide further insight into what motivates prospects to act.

MLM Zig Ziglar.

Do you know who Zig Ziglar is and he was the king of home business training?

Have you ever read one of Zig Ziglar’s books for your network marketing business?

Have you ever heard the phrase, “See you at the Top?’

It was Zig’s classic line that is now world famous and said daily by a ton of people.

I know. Zig may not be of your generation.

You may have heard his name, maybe. But Zig’s trainings were time transcending and classic in all aspects. He helped birth the personal development industry in the 60’s along with Earl Nightingale, Paul J Meyer, Jim Rohn, Charlie Tremendous Jones, and the like. Zig was in a class all by himself.

Zig Ziglar passed away this morning at 7 AM EST in a hospital.

He had pneumonia and had been in the hospital for a week and fighting it off, but the fight finally gave in to the inevitable passing to his reward.

Zig was an amazing mentor, and in 1994 we became friends and even did some seminars together on the big stage. He was quite the teacher and a friend. His son Tom is a dear friend and we talk often an have done a lot of business together.

In the wake of this tsunami of emotions I was feeling this morning, i got to thinking about what I had learned from this legend, and there were things that stood otu- among all the other things that he poured into my life…

And I will miss him as the world will. And just as Jim Rohn passing a couple of years ago, the world will now have another void in the training world that will never be filled. You cannot copy what cannot be copied as both were totally originals. God himself is probably letting the angels get motivated by Zig now.

What were those 4 things?

1. “It is NOT ABOUT YOU. Never will be.”

At dinner one night, Zig and I were talking and he looked at me and said that one of the greatest lessons he had ever learned was that it was not about Zig. Never was, never will be. it was about helping others getting along in life, and making it all about them.

“Your star is rising Doug, but it is not your star, nor your success. It belongs to the people that will help you get to where you want to go- and you will always owe the for your Success.”

2. “Character and Integrity is the Secret Sauce.”

Zig taught me that there are often “secret sauces” to recipes, and often that made the difference between good food and extraordinary food..

“Take Colonel Sanders of KFC. There was something in that recipe that made all the difference in the world. Not one piece of chicken would have tasted like his food, had it not been for that secrets ingredient. It is the same with life. if you have character and integrity, everything else will work out. There will be people that will offer you things that you need to walk away from and you will know when that happens. The secret sauce will keep you marketable and in business.”

3. “It is not just about hard work- but about smart work. Lot of people that are working hard are dead broke.”

That is so true. Working smart only makes sense if you are an entrepreneur or even an employee. Smarter work always dominates harder work. Yes, you need to work hard, and everyday. But if you combine that with smart work, you will be amazed at how less hard you will have to work to accomplish more in life. Working smart always leads to your OWN business somehow.

Automate, outsource, and delegate. That is the what Zig saw for the future even in the year 2000.

4. Never take yourself too seriously Doug, otherwise, no one else will.

Zig has a genius for making the complicated simple and the drudgery of business fun. he often made fun of himself on stage, and even laughed at himself often. So many times we are SO SERIOUS that we can turn people off and even turn them away.

Get some lightness to your focus and mindset, and have some FUN. Yes, you need to be serious when it is required- but it is not required all the time. And if you are achieving success in your life, do not take that as YOUR success either.

No one succeeds without help.

It is always some kind of team effort. Thank the team, and never pat yourself on the back. Always pat the team on the back and have some fun at your expense.

It is the person standing behind the spotlight aiming it on others that has the True Leadership Power.

MLM Team Building Tips.

Are you displaying the amount of caring that it takes to build a home business?

The success of team building for your network marketing business will depend on your CARING.

Do you understand how CARING works in your mlm success?

There is an ol saying that states, “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”  This statement I heard first in the 80’s but it is still true today.

I ran across this great article on Smartbriefs  and it is about caring and thought it would be something that we call could learn from. Caring is one of the greatest secrets to Team Building- and it can accelerate it dramatically.

At a sales conference I recently attended, I watched a sales manager pass out sales awards to his global sales team. He passed out thirty-nine separate awards. There were three to five people nominated or eligible for each of the awards.

This sales manager announced each of the nominee’s names, and then he rattled off some personal fact about the individual, how long they’d been with the company, their annual sales figure, their highest monthly sales figure, as well as the number of months that they reached a sales figure over a certain amount.

He did all of this from memory. No notes. No slide deck.

It was an impressive display, to say the least. I pressed him as to why he went to such great lengths to do all of this from memory when most people would have been content to use notes. He didn’t offer up much, so I pressed him a little more and he told me a story. It’s a short story, but it explains everything.

When this sales manager was selling for another company, he won the national award for producing the highest sales. When the principal of the company presented him with the award, the principal didn’t know his name.

Literally.

He had to prompt someone to give him the name. Now that this sales manager has his own team (and it’s a massive team), he makes it a point to know all of his people by name, their spouse’s name, as well as all kinds of personal details.

Why does he go to such lengths?

He does this because he cares.

It’s the company’s culture to care about their people, and this is just one demonstration as to how they manifest caring. But it’s a staggeringly powerful display of caring about people.

No one wants to be anonymous.

No one wants to be a transaction.

Everyone has the need to be acknowledged, to be significant, to matter.

Sometimes the most powerful lessons you will ever learn come from having a bad manager or leader. If what someone else once did hurt you, doing the exact opposite is a safe bet.

NOTE: The power of caring is unmatched in it’s power—both inside and outside of the company. It’s the foundation of trust. And it breeds results.

How do you respond to body language  in your recruiting for your home based business?

What are the signals that you look for with a person’s face in your network marketing efforts?

Can you read body language in your mlm recruiting efforts?

Body language can reveal much about a person and their interest or LACK of interest in your work at home business. Often we miss the subtle clues that can display where they are in the recruiting process. Even online, there are certain communication clues that can reveal much of noticed.

Body language can accelerate recruiting in network marketing dramatically if read correctly. Below is some of the secrets of using body language in mlm recruiting.

When you are recruiting LIVE and in person, there are many parts of your body that add to the nonverbal message. This type of nonverbal communication is called kinesic code.

It is made up of emblems, illustrators, regulators, affect displays and adapters. 

These behaviors are each communicated in different behaviors and movements of your body.

The first important aspect of kinesics is posture. Standing or sitting in a relaxed professional manner is a positive posture nonverbal.

Also, being comfortably upright, squarely facing an audience, and evenly distributing your weight are all aspects of posture that communicate professionalism, confidence, attention to detail and organization. Nonverbals communicated by moving the trunk of your body are called body gestures.

Several different body gesture strategies are to move to change mood or pace, draw
attention, or reinforce and idea. Some examples are stepping aside for a transition or stepping forward to emphasize a point. Hand gestures are what are most often identified as nonverbal communication.

One reason is because they are so obvious to a receiver and seen to be partly conscious. It is important to let your gestures flow naturally as if in conversation with a close friend.
You may also use gestures to specifically describe shape and size, emphasize a point, enumerate a list, or picking out a specific item. In conjunction with hand gestures is touching.

This is a very powerful communicator especially for establishing a link to a receiver or conveying emotion. However, touching is dangerous because it invades a persons intimate space and may be perceived as unwanted or breaking norms. It is important to pay attention to the other person’s nonverbal cues before deciding to initiate a touch. 

The last area of physical nonverbal communication is facial expression. Facial expression is partly innate and also partly learned. Because of the number of muscles and features, such as mouth, nose, lips, cheeks, in your face, it is extremely expressive. A face can ask questions, show doubt, surprise, sadness, happiness and a wealth of other messages.

Here are some other body language clues for your mlm recruiting:

1. The Head

Rapidly nodding your head can leave the impression that you are impatient and eager to add something to the conversation — if only the prospect would let you. Slower nodding, on the
other hand, emphasizes interest, shows that you are validating the comments of your prospect, and subtly encourages him to continue.

Tilting the head slightly, when combined with eye contact and a natural smile, demonstrates friendliness and approachability. The tilt should be momentary and not exaggerated, almost like a bob of the head to one side. (Do not overuse this technique!)

2. The Mouth

One guiding principle of good body language is to turn upward rather than downward. Look at two boxers after a fight: the loser is slumped forward, brows knit and eyes downcast, while the
winner’s smiling face is thrust upward and outward. The victor’s arms are raised high, his back is straight, his shoulders are square. In the first instance the signals we receive are those of anger, frustration, belligerence, and defeat; in the second, happiness, openness, warmth, and confidence.

Your smile is one of the most powerful positive body signals in your arsenal; it best exemplifies the up-is-best principle, as well. Offer an unforced, confident smile as frequently
as opportunity and circumstances dictate. Avoid at all costs the technique that some applicants use: grinning idiotically for the length of the recruiting session, no matter what. This will only communicate that you are either insincere or not quite on the right track.

It’s worth that the mouth provides a seemingly limitless supply of opportunities to convey weakness. This may be done by touching the mouth frequently (and, typically, unconsciously);
“faking” a cough when confused with a difficult question; and/or gnawing on
one’s lips absentmindedly. Employing any of these “insincerity signs” when you
are asked questions when recruiting, will confirm or instill suspicions about your honesty and effectiveness.

3. The Hands

A confident and positive handshake breaks the ice and gets the interview moving in the right direction. Proper use of the hands throughout the rest of the recruiting session will help to convey an above-board, “nothing-to-hide” message.

Watch out for hands and fingers that take on a life of their own, fidgeting with themselves or other objects such as pens, paper, or your hair. Pen tapping is interpreted a s the
action of an impatient person; this is an example of an otherwise trivial habit
that can take on immense significance in an interview situation. (Rarely will
an prospect ask you to stop doing something annoying; instead, he’ll simply make a mental note that you are an annoying person, and congratulate himself for picking this up before making the mistake of enrolling with you.)

The Feet

Some foot signals can have negative connotations. Women and men wearing slip-on shoes should beware of dangling the loose shoe from the toes; this can be quite distracting and, as it
is a gesture often used to signal physical attraction, it has no place in a home business recruiting session. Likewise, avoid compulsive jabbing of the floor, desk, or chair with your foot; this can be perceived as a hostile and angry motion, and is likely to annoy the interviewer.

These are success body language signals that are powerful revealers that tell what the prospect ia really thinking and where you need to go with the recruiting session- or NOT GO.
