What is an upline in MLM and Network Marketing?

It is the “Line of folks above you” that are there to help you in your quest for MLM success. They all have the opportunity to make some money off of your network marketing efforts, and you need to know who they are, and what they have accomplished.

They are your SUPPORT TEAM as they have a vested interest in your MLM Success in Network Marketing. Use them for your Success and theirs as well.

What you need to do, is send each of them an email. Contact your sponsor and get their emails and telephone numbers and send them a letter introducing yourself.

Why?

The Power of Your Upline.

They can help you, train you, give you their insight from their mistakes, and generally help you with their experience for network marketing success.

There are some questions that I recommend asking your upline:

“What help create the success you have in your group?”

“What is the most important thing I can do right now to get my business started and why?”

“If you were me, what conference calls do I need to be on?”

“What made you decide to join our company and why?”

“What is the way that you keep motivated?”

“What one success secret is there to this business that has helped you the most?”

“How can I help be a part of the team and contribute?”

“Can I volunteer to do things and when?”

“What drives you to succeed?”

“What is the ONE Secret to Success in Network Marketing?”

These are the type of questions that an upline will appreciate..but understand:

INFERNO Secret:

The more VISIBLE you are to your upline, the more help and assistance you will probably get.

Make yourself known with your actions, help, and interest in what is going on with the company and team…PLUS get some quick Results.

BECOME A LEADER from the start. Don’t wait on people to call on you, or your mlm upline to recognize you.

BE PROACTIVE. And them some more. Let your upline know there is a Network Marketing WINNER and LEADER in the making in their downline. SHOW THEM you are a diamond in the rough!

Make a list of all your upline that gets paid on you and make it a priority to stay in touch and use them for building your business.

Yes, I know.

There are some uplines that have an Over-inflated Sense of Self Importance. (sigh.)

If you don’t get a response from them, understand that they have “Celebrityitis” and ignore them. They have their heads up their egos and cannot really help you.

Make a decision today that you WILL BECOME A LEADER, and will be part of the MLM Leadership Team.

Become known for your RESULTS! THAT is a HUGE secret.

RESULTS RULE. Period. With your upline and mlm company.

Also ask your upline what books they are reading and what tapes they are listening to. Study this business like a business, and keep learning.

WARNING:

There are some folks out there that think that they have all the answers, and if it didn’t come from them or the company, it cannot be any good.

That is a valid point to some degree as you must protect the culture of the company, and your upline should be careful of training that doesn’t stay on the company message and vision.

But a lot of the training out there is really good, and I personally have learned a lot from the trainers in the Network Marketing industry.

How do you succeed in MLM without really trying?… you can’t!

But now that I have your attention, here are some ideas that will make the business building process far easier then most people experience.

There are many reasons why people find MLM difficult, there are two, however, that stand out above the rest:

Inbound MLM Recruiting.

1. They use an “inbound” recruiting methodology
2. They recruit the wrong people

Let’s take a look at number 1; “inbound” recruiting methodology:

Most people try to recruit by focusing on the exact wrong information. The typical approach is to throw enough information at the prospect (company, compensation plan, products etc) that, hopefully the prospect will find something that he likes and join the business. The problem with this approach is…well…it doesn’t work! At least not often enough for most people to build a solid business.

I call this “inbound” methodology because it’s all about trying to recruit people for the sole reason of building YOUR business…it’s about your gain, not theirs.

I have had countless people try to “recruit” me by trying to impress me with their wonderful company, revolutionary compensation plan or cutting edge product, but no one has yet to ask me a single question about my needs, wants or “don’t-wants.” No one has asked me any questions that identify weather or not I might be interested in looking at making as change.

MLM Outbound Recruiting Success.

An outbound process is when we identify true prospects by trying to help those who have an unwanted condition in their lives which could be solved by their participation in our business.

People will not migrate towards change unless they require change. So, step number one is to identify the unwanted condition or the needs, wants and “don’t-wants” then offer the prospect the opportunity to explore a solution for THEIR reasons…not yours. See the difference?

If you are struggling in MLM, it could be because you are trying to recruit people for the wrong reason, thus, using the exact wrong approach and as a result of all that, recruiting the wrong people.

MLM Recruiting the Wrong People.

This brings us to point number 2; recruiting the wrong people:

Identify people who have a requirement for change first; people who have expressed through conversation some unwanted condition that might prompt them into action. Even then, you need to further qualify them as a prospect before your spout off about your company, your products or your awesome compensation plan.

The people you should be looking for are people who have a specific set of qualities. The ideal type of people who make the best business building partners are those people who…

1. Have a desire for change.

2. Are people oriented type individuals.

3. Are influential, in as much as they commend respect from the people in their lives and have an impact on the lives of others.

4. Are involved in service clubs, networking business clubs, or active in the community; they understand the concept of networking as part of a legitimate business model.

5. Are financially able to invest in their business in order to facilitate growth.

The more of these characteristics an individual possesses, the more likely they will be to actually succeed in network marketing. Once you have qualified your prospect using these criteria and determined that they posses enough of these characteristics to be considered a good prospect, only then should we begin the process of trying to help them solve their unwanted condition by inviting them to explore a solution.

Be an outbound networker, and watch your income grow.

Give your cold prospect room to breathe…and let a rapport start to develop a little…if that is going to happen…a lot of times, it won’t due to lack of any interest on the prospects part…

Wait till the second conversation to bring up your desire to seek them for your business, or who they might know…

This is only professional…and you are giving the relationship time to solidify….

If you jump the gun too quick, you will end up shooting yourself in the foot….

Here are the “5 HOT Phrases for Cold market MLM Prospecting…”…these are mainly for people that you will meet in the business community when Net-Working your business…which you should be doing all the time…

1) “I am a professional in the Community….” This states an important fact: You are one of them…..

And this will create the start of a CONNECTION right off the bat, and also establish who you are to the Cold prospect…from one professional to another…

5) “Would you be open for coffee sometime…?” This is the proactive part of it, and it simply gives them a chance to engage the budding relationship…or not. Most professionals do have an interest in increasing their business, so you will get some interest, and some time with them…but if they say they are not interested …

Be a professional…and thank them for their time and wish them well….and see if you can get a card for a thank you note to send them…

“May I at least have a card in case I run across someone who would want your services?…”

Understand…you as a network marketer should be out weekly meeting folks who may need your products and looking for you…but most don’t do that as they stay tied to one or two ways to prospect…

Multiple Lead Vehicles in Network Marketing.

Millionaires in this business have multiple lead generating vehicles working for them…all the time…

In your Cold market Network Marketing Prospecting….make sure…

You put yourself on the other side of the table think about how would you like to be approached…and treated?

Then do it….with these phrases or variations of them… and turn your Cold prospect into a warming up prospect…then a Scorching HOT MLM Prospect.
