What is MLM and Home Based Business really all about?

Some folks think it is about getting wealthy.

Some folks think it is about getting successful.

And some folsk think it is about building a business.

That is true to some degree…

But there is only really one thing that will determine your success.

There is ONE Word that prospects seem to be glued to when they are listening to a presentation, or even an approach about anything.

It is the standard that all prospects measure anything they are looking at… and they are considering purchasing…

The Recruiting Word.

The word is VALUE.

Remember this Success Formula…

“No VALUE = No Volume.”

Volume will RARELY if EVER precede Value in MLM, and if it does, most of the time, it will not work out long term.

Value is a part of our culture, and we must show value to the prospect in our Network Marketing Company, Products, and Comp Plan.

No Value… No Volume baby.

Let me ask you some questions:

Would you buy a house that you saw no value in?

How about a car?

How about a thousand dollar suit?

How about a Dress?

Would you even buy a pair of shoes that you saw no value in?

I didn’t think so…

Neither would I.

And no one is going to be recruited or buy a product that they see no value in for their life and future.

It’s ALL about Value in MLM Recruiting.

People want to know what’s in it for them.

They want to know there is value for their lifestyle in MLM.

Value in the Company.

Value in the Products.

And Value in YOU!!!

Give the prospect REASONS and BENEFITS to enroll in your company, or buy your product.

What do your products do that bring Value to a person?

What does your Business have that will bring Value to a person?

What do YOU have that will bring value to working with you?

You need to answer these questions…

” And the Value to you and your family is…”

“What this means to you is…”

” How this will enlarge and increase your life is…”

Remember:

No Value… No Volume.

NO Exceptions.

If you remember this Ruls you will start to see some massive things happen.

If you utilize this Rule your business iwll explode.

If you ignore it…you will see the the NO VOLUME happening.

That is not a good thing for your home based business.

Most people in a home business do not lead…they suggest.

That is NOT what you need to do.

Suggesting is good…but does not work very well.

The Ten Commandments are not the Ten  Suggestions.

YOU need Leadership and a Leadership Focus for Change….but eomething comes before it

What sre the Rules of Home Business leadership?

The Rules of Network Marketing MLM Leadership.

1) You must touch people first before you can ever change their life.

2) You must touch them emotionally, and in the heart.

3) They MUST feel your intentions, and know you are there to take their life to a whole new level.

They MUST know that you are there to help them, not sell them something.

A sale and a recruit is a result of an emotional touch. There is no long lasting change, without an emotion OnFire first.

Emotion is what puts the heart, and the person IN MOTION to move towards you psychologically.

That is what you want, in this business.

IN MLM, People are MAGNETIZED to a strong Emotion of the Heart, and that is what touches the person, and their heart.

Emotional Marketing.

We are in what I call “ Emotional Marketing “, as we market to the emotions, and market the emotions of Hope and Possibilities to folks.

And your job is to create 2 things in your presentation:

  1. HOPE .
  2. POSSIBILITIES .

1) You MUST create the HOPE of:

A BETTER LIFE ,

A BETTER LIFESTYLE , and

A BETTER FUTURE for folks…

You must create that with the picture you paint with your words, and also excitement.

Put them in the picture of Success you are painting, and them leave them there!

If you do that, that will be what will MAGNETIZE them to your offer, and attract them to you.

2) You also MUST create the POSSIBILITY that it will happen in their life, and you do that with your MLM products and company.

The Secret.

Too many times new distributors in MLM are too focused on creating a TRANSACTION , not a TRANSFORMATION .

A Transaction is ME focused and pretty short term…

But a Transformation is YOU focused, and much more long term focus… which is THE Success Focus in Network Marketing…

A Transaction is a one time, short term action that will produce one reuslt, and then you move on to another…then another…then another…

A Transformation is long term action and focus that will MULTIPLY all you do, as you transform people’s lives, and they are never the same because of your Network Marketing company and products.

First you must Touch, then Change, and if you don’t touch the emotions somewhere along the lines, they probably will not embrace your concept and offer of change…

Which will produce another emotion:

FRUSTRATION

In MLM and Network Marketing.

Proceed with and IN Leadership. Change is needed for Success. But change is a FRUIT of something…

It is called HOPE for your Home Based Business.

Home business owners need to focus.

One ONE thing.

It is amazing.

One thing can change everything.

One thing can set things in motion-even home based businesses.

I hit this realization about 4 years into this great home business profession.

Knowing and understnadung things are crticial to the “filter” you have to process this business.

Some folks GET IT…others still have not.

What ONE THING am I talking about?

Do you know what business you are REALLY in in MLM?

Most would answer Nutrition, or Telecommunications, or Make up, or Wholesale Purchasing.

Even some might answer “people business”, or marketing, or even distribution.

Some people might answer that we are in the “dream” business, which to some degree holds some truth.

Others might answer that we are in the “talking” business, as we talk to people in Network Marketing.

The Leadership Factor.

And still, others might answer that we are in the “Leadership” business, which again, is partly correct.

But understanding which business we are in is EVERYTHING, as your approach to this business will ultimately lead to what is felt by the prospect.

Many folks are confused as to what business they are in, so the confusion is felt in their words and actions.

If you were working at a company, and you didn’t know what business they were in, would you last very long if you did not find out?

Would you be able to function in the capacity that you needed to?

You MUST Get This.

It is the same with Network Marketing... if you don’t “get it”, then the prospect never will… for they will feel the lack of focus on your part, and be hesitant to follow you…

And you will not be able to function as effective as you need to due to your lack of total understanding of what we really do in Network Marketing…

So what business are we REALLY in?????

The MLM business Leaders know they are in is the business of “Touching and Changing People’s lives”.

That’s it.

You are a Network Marketing change agent, and that means you are an agent to help create change in people’s lives, and improve them dramatically.

Your Goal.

And your goal, and ONLY goal is to change lives so you can

INCREASE,

EXPAND,

ENLARGE

and EMPOWER them…

Those are what we call the ” Power Four”…

As they are what we all want in and out of life… in some format.

If you do touch and change people’s lives…

And do it over and over…

And that is your Focus…

MLM Training – The 5 Secrets to Starting a Recruiting Conversation

Home based business…

building is about CONVERSATION.

The words you use- and do not use- can determine much of your home based business success.

In network marketing, you must FIRST come across a certain way-whether social media, facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, or just over the cell. You must sound comfortable and make the prospect comfortable.

Opening up conversation with people is for many an uncomfortable task.

It shouldn’t be.

Conversation is the secret to this business, and there are 5 very easy ways to open up a Network Marketing conversation with someone that you would like to meet.

But I must warn you!

DON’T come across like you are “up to something”.

People will read right through that. Keep your focus on serving the masses, and helping people solve life problems with your business and products, and simply wanting to meet a friend you have not met yet.

These ideas are very basic, but few do them when they are out and about.

Here are 5 ways:

1) “Compliment them on something they are wearing or carrying“.

People like to be noticed. Simple and plain. They like to be noticed for what they are “displaying” about themselves. What they are wearing or carrying is telling you a little bit about who they are…

I always start a compliment with a question:

“Would it be ok if I paid you a compliment about something I have noticed about you?”

Or if it’s a guy….

“You know, I don’t give out a lot of compliments, but I like that suit you have on. Very professional. Good cut.”.

This will set up anticipation, and not come across like you are phony, or insincere which many folks do…they have the wrong intentions when they compliment someone.

Plus people will feel good that you noticed!

2) “Ask for directions”.

I use to do this all the time when in a mall in a town I was new to. I would ask if they knew were a particular store was, or a place to eat.

Then I would say I am from out of town, or new to this neighborhood, and asked if they lived around here.

Then I would ask them if they had a family,hobby…etc.

Then I would say….”Maybe you can help me…you may know who I am looking for…”

3) “Ask what they do for a living”.

One of the most powerful things you can do when Networking, is ask a person “What do you do?”

Then ask another question about what they just said.

Then ask another question about what they just said…..and you will start finding out about them and who them might know to help you.

“Gotta card?” is a great way to extend this conversation into a later time.

4) “Carry a book on Success or Leadership and casually ask people if they had read it”.

Then ask them if they like to read and if they read Success and Leadership books. If they do, discuss the last one they read, and one they would recommend.

Get them talking about Success and ask them if they are a Student of Success. You will be surprised at the people you meet that are! And looking for a new future!

5) “Ask for their name after giving yours”.

This one is so simple, but few do it.

“Hi, my name is Doug. How are you? I apologize for asking this, what is your name? I have never had the pleasure of meeting you.”

This is such a simple way to meet people. You even apologize for bothering them for their name, which is a soft way of asking for it, and you almost always get it this way!

Open up as many MLM conversations as you can, and your home business will skyrocket!

Oh…here is one final opener:

Smile.

Look in their eyes.

Nod your head.

Stick your hand out to shake theirs.

And say…”I am sorry,but I don’t know who you are. My name is Mary, I am with ABC Company. May I have your name ?”

Open your eyes wide..

And SMILE as you are starting to build a successful Home based business!

My friend Ben Kinchlow came up with that title recently on his “Original Networker” conference call, and I fell in love with it… and wanted to write about it… 

What is it?

People in MLM often recruit with little thought of how it is impacting the prospect, and turning them off… because they are focused on everything except what they should be focused on to effectively recruit…

A “Drive By Recruiter” has certain things that they aim at:

They aim at recruiting for THEIR gain, not the prospects… 

They aim at recruiting for the short term, not the long term… 

They aim at recruiting with THEIR paycheck in mind… not the prospects… 

They have a focus that has greed in the middle of it… 

They have a desire for self-gain… and not much else… 

And they shoot the prospect with the gun of Greed, and the bullets of selfishness and self-delusion.

Results of Drive By Recruiting.

And what are the usual results of Drive By Recruiting?

Leaving people feel like they got scammed…

Leaving people doubting your integrity and the integrity of the Network Marketing industry…

Lots of dead bodies on the road to what is perceived as Success.

What can you do to make sure you are not a Drive By Recruiter?

Make sure you understand that it is truly all about the prospect. 

Focus on finding what they want to happen in their life… not what you want to happen in yours… 

Follow up professionally and effectively with your prospect, and make sure they are glad they talked with you. 

Say… This may or may not be for you, but either way, we will find out what is best for you… 

MLM Hit and Run Artist.

Don’t become a Hit and Run artist… spend some time with your prospect, and then if they enroll, spend time working with them and training them. You surely don’t want to become a Drive By Recruiter…

What you want to become is a Driven and Building Recruiter…

Drive your business with your Passion… and Build your people with your Leadership.

And recruit your prospects with a selfless focus.

MLM Leadership – The 10 Commandments for MLM Leadership

 

 

 

1) THOU SHALT MAKE A DECISION TO LEAD.

Simply, there is nothing more powerful in this Industry than a True decision to Lead. It seems when that happens; you literally become magnetized to Success.

How can you tell a True Decision? It is a Decision from the heart, not just the mind.  You simply cannot imagine traveling down any other Path, because of the Success Power in Decision. 

Right in the middle of the word Decision is the word “Is”. If you are looking for the Secret of Success to this business, there it “Is’

2) THOU SHALT HAVE AN IGNITED VISION.

Your Vision needs to be more than just on course or on track. It needs to be ONFIRE! It needs to be Crystal Clear, Powerful, and Hot!  As my friend John Milton Fogg says, ” A leader when they meet people, should either Ignite them, or Melt them.”

It needs to be a consuming Vision OnFire that people are compelled to enroll in and buy into, whether it is wealth, helping people, or changing the world.

The real Power in your Vision , the real “Heat” is in the Fire in your Heart…where the Vision is birthed and ignited, and ignites others hearts with Hope, Possibilities, and Change.

3) THOU SHALT DIRECT, GUIDE, AND NAVIGATE.

You must as a Leader have a plan, a step by step trail, and direct your people down the MLM Power Path. You must guide them along the way to solve challenges, and navigate them through storms that do happen in this business and life.

How?

With your support, coaching, caring, instructing, and believing. Remember, the North Star of your organization and compass for your people is your Leadership. Navigation requires knowing where you are, but also where you are headed, and how you are going to get there.

The Last syllable in Navigate is Gate. You must provide the Gate to Success for others …It is up to them to open it and walk through.

4) THOU SHALT CREATE INFLUENCE THROUGH ETHICS, INTEGRITY, & SINCERE CARING.

There is nothing more powerful and compelling than a Leader who cares more about their distributor’s paycheck, than their own. People are magnetized to it.

And the influence that creates through the ethics that are needed to do it, is enormous. But as a leader, you must always display ethics and integrity to maintain respect with your people.

And sincere caring Leaders know, people don ‘t follow what you say, or what you do, as much as who you are.

5) THOU SHALT CREAT AN ENVIRONMENT OF HOPE, POSSIBILITIES, & EXPECTANCY.

You must create an environment that your distributors can grow and thrive in. An environment of hope and possibilities, and that the hope will be crystallized into Success. You must also create an environment of expectancy.

Leaders know that people usually rise to the level of their expectations. Believe and expect big things from your people. As oxygen is to a population, your belief is to your organization.

Let your distributors “breathe the air of Success“, in MLM, which gives life to every distributor, and creates an Incredibly Empowering environment.

6) THOU SHALT EMPOWER EVERYONE THROUGH BELIEF, KNOWLEDGE, & ENCOURAGEMENT.

Leaders have an incredible chance to empower people, and change their life through this business. And the greatest way to empower is to believe in them. The 4 most powerful words in network marketing are “I believe in You!”

And through the Power of Encouragement, like “You can do it!” and the proper knowledge of how to do it, you will become their biggest supporter, and cheerleader. Believe and encourage your people…through Heart Power and the Fire of Belief.

7) THOU SHALT BE OUT IN FRONT, NOT STUCK IN THE BACK.

Leaders are a lighthouse in a sea of adversity and frustration in network marketing. And your distributors must always be looking forward.

Being out in front also means doing what your teaching them and setting the example.  You must understand, your distributors quietly watch you, and observe.

You will never know it, but they are watching to see if you practice what you are preaching. If you are not, they will quietly duplicate what you are doing. Show them the way, and lead them through what we a PassionFire call “The New Distributor Fog”…the fog of doubt, frustration, and discouragement. You do that by leading them through the fog with your light of Leadership.

8) THOU SHALT STAND BEHIND THE SPOTLIGHT.

Leaders know: You make the Big Money from the back of the room. Do you understand that? Too many distributors get leadership and what we call “celebrityitis” mixed up. A lot of distributors become a celebrity when they get successful, and to the detriment of their group.

Leaders who build permanent downlines put the recognition spotlight on their people then stand behind it, and stay there. Yes, Leaders do need to be visible to inspire, but the Power lies in recognizing and celebrating every little attempt or success to encourage and build the distributor’s confidence in this business.

Why?

People will do more for recognition than money. That’s Leadership 101.

9) THOU SHALT CONSTRUCT, NOT CONSTRICT.

We at PassionFire believe in the L.I.A.C.P. Principle.

Leadership Is A Construction Project.

First, you must build you, and construct the skills; attitudes, habits, and thinking you need to succeed in this business. Then you must construct your people, through all we have been talking about in this article. And then you construct your business.

Most distributors constrict their business with a very limiting self-focus, and looking out for #1 attitude. The average distributor has a selfish focus. Leaders have a selfless focus.

And that brings us to what we call “The Leadership Paradox”. You must construct your business by building you first, downline second, and business third, but all at the same time.

If you understand what I just said, you are on your way to building a retirement vehicle.

10) THOU SHALT BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, NOT JUST DISTRIBUTORSHIPS.

What is the Secret to building A Million-Dollar Distributorship?

You build Million Dollar Relationships.

Remember that it is easier to walk away from a business than a friend. Get to know your folks, especially your Leaders as people, not just a paycheck. Get to know their dreams, what is important to them, and especially what they value. Spend personal time with your leaders, and develop that bond. Visit their house, their workplace, “Their world”, and make it a part of yours.

And always, always, always put their interests ahead of yours. That will create amazing loyalty, which will create amazing motivation, which will create amazing paychecks.

Get on a ship and sail on the sea of relating, and when people discover you are truly interested in them; that is when your paycheck becomes truly interesting. 

These are the “Ten Commandments of Network Marketing Leadership 2005.”

I encourage you in this new Millennium to start engaging your business through the eyes of a Leader, not just a distributor. The impact on your business will be enormous.

And once you discover how the journey of leadership will transform you in all aspects of your life, the year 2000 will be for you without limits, barriers, or failure, and you will be on a one-way track to all the success you ever dreamed of.

And that is what Network Marketing is supposed to be about…Unbridled, and unstoppable Success.
