Home Based Business Training-Top Ten Tips for Terminating MLM Telephone Terror

by Wendy Weiss

What can strike terror into the heart of even the most successful sales professional or MLM entrepreneur? What can crush self confidence, destroy self esteem and leave even the most seasoned prospector quivering with humiliation and defeat?

The Terror of Cold Calling. But fear not! Here are:

Top Ten Tips for Terminating MLM Telephone Terror!

1. Make telephone calls

Few things are more terrifying than the unknown. The fear you create for yourself is far worse than the reality of cold calling. Once you start making telephone calls and continue making calls, it gets easier. You will overcome your fear by doing.

2. Make a lot of telephone calls

If you have only one prospect to pursue, that prospect becomes overwhelmingly important. If you have hundreds of leads, no one prospect can make or break you. The more calls you make, the more success you will have.

3. Prepare

Prepare for cold calling the way you would for any major presentation. Know what you want to say, how you want to say it and how you want to represent yourself, your company, your product or service. And, most importantly, know the goal of your telephone call.

4. Practice

If you are new to MLM cold calling or uncomfortable with cold calling, practice your pitch out loud. Role-play with friends or colleagues. Practice various sales scenarios. This way you will not have to worry about what you are going to say, you will be prepared and you can focus in on your Network Marketing prospect.

5. Start with less important leads

It will be good practice and less stressful. Once you feel more comfortable, start working on the more important leads.

MLM means CALM DOWN! 6. Stay CalmYou will, for the most part, be talking to people who will appreciate your call. If a prospect is rude, remember: don’t take it personally. They may just be having a bad day. Move on.

7. Realize your priorities and your prospect’s priorities are different

You want an immediate “yes”…your prospect on the other hand may want to finish a report, finish a conversation, start their vacation….etc. Be very careful not to read negative or extra meaning into early conversations with your prospect or your prospect’s secretary.

If, for example, your MLM prospect’s secretary says that your prospect is “on the phone,” “in a meeting,” or “out of the office,” that does not translate to, “My prospect knows that I am calling and is avoiding me.”
Wendy Weiss, The Queen of Cold Calling, is a sales trainer, sales coach and author specializing in cold calling and new business development. You can learn more about Wendy by going to her website at wendyweiss.com and be sure to sign up for her newsletter for more tips on cold calling.

8. Accept that some things are out of your control

If a prospect says “no,” ultimately, that is out of your control. But what is within your control is continuing to prospect and continuing to make calls. It is also within your control to improve your cold-calling skills, attend seminars, read books or hire a trainer — fewer prospects will say “no.”

9. Play Arlene’s game

The object of Arlene’s game is to focus on rejection. The goal is to reach 100 points. You get 1 point for every rejection. Give yourself 1 point for every “no” answer. If your prospect says “yes,” that’s a bonus! Focus on acquiring points. The more calls you make, the more points you acquire. When you reach 100-You Win! Give yourself a prize!

10. Have fun!

This is not life or death — it’s only a Network marketing cold call. The fate of the world does not rest on you and your telephone. You will not destroy your company or ruin your life if a prospect says “no.” Loosen up, be creative, have some fun!

MLM Network Marketing Training- The MLM Secret of Getting the Decision and Closing the Prospect.

MLM Network Marketing Training- The MLM Secret of Getting the Decision and Closing the Prospect.

By Doug Firebaugh

This is where the rubber meets the road. This is where you MAKE YOUR MONEY!

Picture going through your prospect presentation. You’re really nailing the presentation — going through your series of “Next Moves” to keep your prospect involved and increase their knowledge and interest in your opportunity.

Then comes…

Decision TIME in MLM.

INFERNO Secret:

No Decision. No paycheck.

The last thing you want to hear at this point is a “Maybe.”

INFERNO Secret:

Maybes in this business will KILL YOU. You MUST get Prospects Off the Fence!

The Decision is where the Involvement is either crystallized or told goodbye. You cannot make money in this business without bringing them to a Decision.

INFERNO Secret:

On the Fence = Off the Pay Plan.

In Network Marketing- NEVER Close.

So you want to try to bring them to a decision. And the most common way to do that is through “CLOSING”…

NEVER CLOSE! You will lose out in the long run…

Why?

The last word in Close is Lose…and if you or your distributors don’t close your Prospect, you will think that you have LOST.

But in reality you have SUCCEEDED!

How?

You got a Decision. And you lead your prospect to the decision that was right for them.

INFERNO Secret:

This business is NOT for everyone. Your job is not to Close people, but to help navigate them to a decision that is right for them…

How?

By using what we call “Navigators”…

What are they?

Phrases to help LEAD people to the decision that is right for them.

Think about it…you don’t want people to sign up who will be a headache down the road. So sell them a product, get referrals, and Move Forward…

The Master MLM Navigator Questions.

Here are what we call the “Master Navigator Questions”…

Start with…

You know, all I want is what is best for you…and is right for you. This was for me, but you’re not me. I am not here to convince you of anything…only to see if this is right for you…

Then ask…

  1. Does this make sense? (answer)
  2. What is the one thing that really got your attention? Yeah…a lot of folks like that part…
  3. I’ve got an idea…let’s do this…let’s get the paperwork out of the way so we can get you on your way…

What you have done is create an environment TO HELP THEM MAKE A DECISION!

Not CLOSE THEM!!!

People will appreciate this so much more than CLOSING them, online or offline…even though getting the decision online simply requires them taking action of some kind…

MLM Navigator 2

You know…I can tell you know whether this is right for you or not…I have a question…Can you see yourself being successful in this business???? (answer)

Well…I’ve got an idea. Let’s do this…

Now what happens if they say “

No…it’s not for me?”…you say…”GREAT! I am glad you took the time to make an informed decision that is right for you — I appreciate your honesty, but I hope you will be a cheerleader for me! I need your support! And I know you will continue using the Product.

Question — if you were me and you were new in this business, who would be the first 2 people you know you would call?

MLM Navigator 3

“Strength = Asset” Navigator…

Let me ask you a question? You have skills, assets and strengths that you can bring to the table to help any company succeed. Would you agree?

I have skills, assets and strengths, especially in this business, that I bring to the table that can help any company succeed…Let me ask you a question…

Combining YOUR strengths and assets with MY strengths and assets, what kind of business do you think we could build together?

Great…I have an idea…let’s do this…

There are a lot of other navigators, but these are a start…

INFERNO Secret:

Navigation is LEADING…People follow strength…Be a Leader with Navigators instead of just getting them to sign an application. If you’re a leader, you will get plenty of apps…

Best of all — the Decision is simple to get…

INFERNO Secret:

You MUST help and guide people to a decision that is right for them.

If they do not join you, they will REFER you to folks precisely because you didn’t try to pressure them to do something that was not for them. Get them as a customer…and get referrals…and you’ll achieve success in MLM and Network Marketing.

MLM Network Marketing Training- 10 Ways To Indirectly Get To The Top Of Search Engines

MLM Network Marketing Training- 10 Ways To Indirectly Get To The Top Of Search Engines
By: Kim Beardsmore

There are millions of web sites trying to get listed in the top 20 spots of the major search engines. That amounts to a lot of competition! I say if you can’t get listed at the top, indirectly get to the top.

How do you do this? Look up the top 20 web sites on the major search engines under the keywords and phrases people would find your MLM web site. The key would be to then advertise on those web sites.

The most expensive way would be to buy ad space on those Network Marketing web sites. If you don’t want to spend any money, you could use the ten strategies below. These strategies may not apply to every web site.

1. Participate on their discussion boards. You could post questions, answer other peoples questions, and join in on conversations. Just include your signature file and link at the end of your messages.

2. Ask the web site owner if they would like a free ebook to giveaway to their visitors. You could have them link to your web site or include your ad in the free ebook.

3. Submit content to their MLM web site. You could write articles for their web site and include your resource box and link at the end of the article. If they publish it, you’ll indirectly be at the top of the search engines.

4. Write an excellent article review of their web site, products or services. Then publish the review on your web site. E-mail the web site owner and tell him or her about it. They may link to your web site so their visitors read it.

5. Ask the owner of the web site if they would want to trade advertising. If you don’t get as much traffic as they do, you could throw in some extra incentives.

6. Propose a cross promotion deal with the web site. You both could promote each others products or services together in one package deal. This means a mention and link back to your web site.

7. Give the web site a testimonial for their MLM product or service. Include a little text link for your web site with the testimonial. You never know; it could end up on their ad copy.

8. Post your advertisement on their free classified ad section on their Network Marketing web site. You want to be sure you have an attractive headline so they will read your ad.

9. Post your text link on their free-for-all links page. You want to go back and post your link regularly so it stays towards the top.

10. Sign their guest books. You could leave a short compliment about their web site on their guest book. Just include your signature file and link at the end of your message.

MLM Network Marketing Training-Killer Copy: Words That Are Like Magnets to Money in MLM

MLM Network Marketing Training-Killer Copy: Words That Are Like Magnets to Money in MLM

by David Garfinkel

I’ll never forget what my accountant said five years ago when he saw the ad I wrote for my services: “How much did you drink before you wrote this?”He was kidding. But he just couldn’t believe anyone in their right mind would write such a bold and outrageous ad for their own writing, consulting and speaking services, as I had.Well, I spent $300 on that ad — $200 to run it in a local trade association directory, and $100 to have it reprinted as a flyer.

The following year, that $300 ad turned into $12,341 in new business for me. And $12,341 was just a tiny fraction of my total business that year. Why did I make so much money myself while there were so many thousands of “starving writers” in the world of MLM?

The answer may surprise you. You see, it’s not because I’m a better writer. It’s not my schooling. Not my resume. Not any talent I was born with. It’s all because I learned how to write “killer copy.”

How do you write killer copy? You start your killer copy with an emotion-packed opening statement that will get the attention of your reader. This opening statement may be:* a headline * an opening sentence * a subject line on an email * the header on a Web page… or for that matter, the opening words in a telemarketing script, radio commercial, or TV spot.

What’s important is that you understand – your first words count for everything… because you must captivate peoples’ imagination with those words in order to keep their attention in Network Marketing.

Here are examples of opening statements from actual successful marketing pieces:

a) “Take the luxury vacation of your dreams at a reduced cost because of this special offer” (from a travel agency’s letter to business owners.)

b) “How to stop overwhelm before it stops you” (from a personal coach’s ad aimed at stressed-out overachievers)

c) “Why almost every financial statement in family court may not disclose the full net worth of the opposing spouse” (from an investigator’s sales letter to divorce lawyers.)

Then, after your emotion-packed opening statement, you just

a) Make a promise

b) Back it up with convincing proof and

c) Ask for action.

Let’s look at how you do each of those three techniques.

1. Make a promise. The letter about luxury vacations starts with these words:”Imagine taking your winter vacation knowing you aren’t spending a penny more than you have to-secure that you have a team of travel experts making sure every little detail of your vacation goes smoothly. “Here’s how you can have that vacation right now: Take advantage of an unusual promotion our company is doing. Let me explain.”Pretty exciting, right? Even if you don’t think so, the people who got the letter did – because the letter produced an amazing $5 million in sales for the travel agency.

2. Back it up with convincing proof. The personal coach’s ad for stressed-out overachievers, the one that begins “How to stop overwhelm before it stops you,” contains this proof:* 3 case studies, * 3 testimonials, * detailed credentials of the coach * and a money-back guarantee.Despite its stunningly bold claims, the ad comes across as very believable and has generated a record-breaking parade of new clients.

3. Ask for action. The investigator’s sales letter to divorce lawyers, beginning “Why almost every financial statement in family court may not disclose the full net worth of the opposing spouse,” ends this way:”I would like to meet with you at no charge to show you how I can be of service to you and your clients in future family law cases.”Please call me at your convenience so we can set up a meeting to discuss further how I can assist your clients recover their fair share of assets. Call me directly at xxx – xxx-xxxx.”

Killer copy in Network Marketing always asks for action in the most powerful way possible. Notice how the above words spell out exactly what to do, and even make a big promise – that the lawyer reading the letter will recover more money in court for their clients (and, therefore, get more money themselves).

As you can see, a few words of killer copy can lead to massive amounts of money. In fact, many people say writing killer copy is the single most valuable money-making skill in the world. And recently, writing copy was named as one of the top 10 emerging professions for the new century. It doesn’t surprise me.

In the age of the Internet, the old style of advertising copy — saying something clever, and hoping people remember – just doesn’t cut it anymore.Besides, these days, with business-to-business advertising growing so fast, the traditional advertising industry is feeling a lot of pressure for ads that really produce results.

Why? Because, old-style advertising that entertains, but does not sell, is not cost-effective enough for many companies in today’s hyper-competitive market.Recently I heard from my former accountant. (A few years ago, he left accounting to start a new business.)He asked me if I wouldn’t mind sharing some ideas on how he could write killer copy for his own business.I said sure. And now he’s on his way to doing the same thing that I do, for himself.

Funny thing about the conversation we had the other day. Maybe he finally realized that when it comes to increasing your income, killer copy is serious business in MLM.

David Garfinkel is widely recognized by many “marketing gurus” as their secret weapon.  That is, he is known as “The World’s Greatest Copywriting Coach”; because, he can, like no other, teach you how to turn words into cash.  David is also the author and narrator of Killer Copy Tactics, the Web’s first and only totally interactive audio/visual learning system for writing killer sales copy. http://www.roibot.com/kc.cgi?IM6502_bsn

MLM Network Marketing Training- The Ten Commandments of WILDFIRE MLM Recruiting

MLM Network Marketing Training- The Ten Commandments of WILDFIRE MLM Recruiting

What is an MLM “WildFire?

It is a Fire that is out of control, and consumes anything in it’s path. That is the type of recruiting you need….WildFire Recruiting. Blazing, Hot, and OnFIRE with Focus, Purpose, Passion, and Power. Ignite a WildFire in your group and watch your Recruiting go WILD! Here the “Ten Commandments for WildFire Recruiting!”

1)”Thou Shalt Make the Prospect Comfortable.” You must make the prospect comfortable quickly, and keep them in a comfortable state of mind. How do you do that?

Simple. You must be comfortable with what you are doing, and showing no pressure at all in your conversation, and keeping it warm and friendly in what you say and do. And keep talking about them, what interests them and what they are looking for. People are comfortable talking about what interests them, not you.

2)“Thou Shalt keep the Conversation Focused on the Prospect.” The prospect is listening to a particular radio station – KIA-AM. It is a VERY important radio station to the prospect.

It is radio “Keep It All About Me”.

You must keep the Network Marketing conversation focused on what they want to see happen in their life, and their future. Focus on them and them only, and continue to ask questions and keep a “TINY” focus- “Their Interests Not Yours!” It’s ALL about the prospect. Keep your focus on them.

3)“Thou Shalt Build Trust.” If the prospect does not trust you, than you will not recruit them. You MUST get them to trust you, as this is one of the cornerstones of recruiting. Come across as “agenda-less” and no motives, except to see if your business is something they would want to explore. And operate in total integrity.

If you don’t, it will catch up with you. Keep their life in focus, not yours. If you do, your business will become a greater focus to the prospect.

4)“Thou Shalt Hear the Prospect, not just Listen.” Many people listen to an MLM prospect, but few hear the prospect. The prospect will tell you all you need to know to recruit them, if you hear what they are saying. Listening is processing the words, but not the meaning and emotions. Most people are too busy thinking what they are going to say next, to ever hear a prospect.

“Would you please tell me what you meant by that? That was interesting…” or “Tell me what you are really are looking for in life…” are good statement for hearing. Those that listen with the ears have shallow listening…those that listen with the heart and to the emotions, have Success Listening, and actually hear the prospect with a depth that is Magnetic to Success.

5)“Thou Shalt Take the Pressure off the Prospect.” So many folks in this industry, have a tendency to put some form of pressure on the prospect thinking that will help motivate them. It doesn’t. Pressure is a sure way of pushing the prospect away, and their defenses going up.

Take the pressure off with a “Pressure Valve” phrase, like “I am not sure this is something that is right for you or not.” “Or, I am not sure this would be a fit for you….” These simply take the pressure off, and show the prospect that you “…only want what is best for you and your family”.

Secrets to Becoming a Recruiting Magnet”

6)“Thou Shalt Connect with the Prospect and They Must Connect with You.” Connection is the secret to getting the prospect moving towards you psychologically. It is the process of asking questions, and finding things that you have in common, you can relate to, you can share, you both agree with, etc.

The more that a prospect feels connected to you, the more that your recruiting magnetism is growing. “You and I have some things in common…” “I can relate to that!” “I totally agree with you…” are Connecting Phrases for Recruiting. It is a fact that who people feel connected to, they listen to closely, because they feel comfortable with them.

7)“Thou Shalt Paint Word Pictures in Full Color.” We think in pictures. When you think, you actually “see” an image in your mind, and that picture becomes a thought. Your prospect thinks that way too. And if you are giving them only details and facts, then it is not going to set their dreams in motion. You must “paint them there” in their dream,on the canvass of their mind with your words and emotions.

“Imagine the feeling of….” “Can you see yourself…?” “How would your family enjoy…” “What would happen if you really did achieve this..?” “I can see you living in that home…can you?” Find out what the prospect wants to happen in their life that is not happening, then “paint them there” in their mind with your words. Your words are the brush strokes on the canvass of their mind, and your emotions are the colors. Paint a picture of Success, in High Achievement Technicolor.

8)“Thou Shalt Pour Out Hope, not Hype.” “Pouring out” is an art that Successful people and MLM Leaders have mastered. It is simply taking the best of your emotions, and pouring them into a person with your words, caring and belief. Hope is the “Master Product” in Network Marketing. Many people are so focused on getting the prospect excited, they forget that Hope is more powerful than hype.

Hype comes from the head, and Hope comes from the heart. One is heard, and the other is felt. Pour out with your words and emotions the Power of Hope for a better future, income, and lifestyle. As your pour in, the prospect will begin to pour out their heart, and you will know the truth of what they are hoping for in life.

9)“Thou Shalt have Something FOR the Prospect, not want Something FROM the Prospect.” Many times, we come to the prospect, and we have a “dollar bill stuck on our foreheads.” We have our hands mentally reaching for their wallet, and also for their contact list. The prospect can feel this very quickly. You must not approach a prospect with your hand out mentally empty, as if asking for a crumb of bread. You must have your hand out filled with Hope, Dreams, Success, Fulfillment, and an Incredible Lifestyle, ready to give that to them.

If you do, you will have a radically different mind set. One is a “taking mindset” and the other is a “giving mindset.” The prospect will ALWAYS be drawn towards a GIVING mindset, not a taking one. Have the Gift of Success and Lifestyle ready to give your prospect, not the desire to take something from them. “For you” will always have more power than “From you” in recruiting.

10)“Thou Shalt Not Be Emotionally Attached to the Result.” So many times, we get discouraged, and down, when the results of our recruiting efforts do not align with what we want to happen. Our emotions kick in, we start doubting ourselves, and what we are doing, and fear starts to creep in…the Fear of Failure.

Then you get so discouraged, you end up giving up. This happens because your emotions were controlling you, not you controlling your emotions. You must step back from the results, as you must understand that many people are too busy living their life to ever put more life in their living. Timing may not be right.

They may be totally happy where they are in life. They are not saying no to you, but to themselves. Don’t get emotionally attached to the possibility of your prospect enrolling until they have given you reason to. Discouragement is a result of your emotions dominating reality.

Reality is, there are more people out in the world who are looking for you, then you could ever imagine. Go talk to them, and bless them with your MLM business, instead of being bound and imprisoned by the chains of negative emotions.

Blessings…

MLM Network Marketing Training- “The Two Unchanging Laws of Network Marketing”.

MLM Network Marketing Training- “The Two Unchanging Laws of Network Marketing”.

By Doug Firebaugh, © 2004 PFI

The Two Untaught MLM Laws.

There are two unchanging laws in Network Marketing that most folks for whatever reason do not seem to teach, and I may catch some heat over this, but I would rather tell you the truth than not.

These two laws can create many things in MLM, including some things you don’t want:

Frustration.

Discouragement.

Resentment.

Quitting.

Many times folks join a etwork Marketing company, and are excited, and full of vim and vigor, and then find that the wind has been let out of their sails, and the gas siphoned out of their engines.

But had they known a couple of things, it may not have been that way.

Reality many times is not taught in Network Marketing because it is skewed with a rare individual who explodes right out of the gate and everyone else expects that to happen.

That is what these two laws are about. Making reality work for you, not against you as it often does. That is why many great people get out of this business. They don’t understand what the superior reality is to this business.

We taught these two laws to our MLM distributors, and I believe that everyone should at least know this, and be made aware of it to at least understand the realities of what is going on.

You may not agree with it, but I have never met anyone who was successful that disagreed.

MLM Success Reality.

They tell it the way it is, not the way we would like it to be.

But again, knowing them can help you make them work in your favor.

What are the two unchanging laws?

1)”Most people that you talk to will not be who you are looking for.”

2)“Most people that you talk to will know who you are looking for.”

Simple and to the point.

1)“Most people that you talk to will not be who you are looking for.”

That is so true . Most people in life are not really interested in taking on the responsibility of a business and their future. Most leave it to someone else that they feel can do it better and has more experience (and they end up working for others).

This is the truth.

Either you accept it or you don’t. Seven or even eight people out of ten will not be who you are looking for, but that is ok…

Don’t let that get you down, because those same people will probably know who you are looking for, and also, these folks make great customers and referral sources.

2) “Most people that you talk to will know who you are looking for.”

This is the best part, because think about this. If you talk to people, about your product or business, and you know that something positive is more likely going to happen for you than not, that is great!

If whom you are talking to is interested, (and some will be) that is awesome! But if they are not, odds are, they know who you are looking for, and can help guide you to that person. That is a secret to this business.

Reaching Beyond in Network Marketing.

Everyone can help “extend your reach” into a bigger pool of possibilities!

Inferno Secret:

Look at everybody you contact as a “doorway” that can open doors and lead you to other people.

We taught this for years, and when people made the shift to this thinking, it really made a difference in how they were being perceived by the prospect.

Everyone knows people that need your product or even needs your business.

Let them help you.

Don’t be afraid of asking for their help in locating them, as many will, and even the ones who won’t, ask them if you can at least send them some of their friends some information.

Prospects can be a great doorway for you and your home business.

But here is a Million Dollar Question:

Will they be an Entrance for you, or an Exit?

Home Business Training- What do you say to, ‘I could never do Network Marketing?’

by Art Jonak

I often get asked:

“Art, what would you say to someone that says: “I could never do this, I’m not outgoing like you, I’m not the sales type, this is a Pyramid, I could never do MLM., Training takes too much time, I don’t know anybody…”

Are these enough objections to start with?

Learn to think like a Player, and you’ll only have to train your distributors once on how to handle these objections. The best part is they will never bug you about them again.

Read on…

Rather than have my distributors “wing it” and think of something on the spot, I help them create a personal first sentence, test it, make sure it works, and then have them distribute it to their downline.

The downline gets proven technology. The downline avoids a lot of rejection. Results are up.

Everyone is happy.

So, let’s construct a first sentence that addresses the above objections in this particular case.

You might say what Tom “Big Al” Schreiter has tested for years and has proven to work in even the most adverse of situations:

“Most people do network marketing everyday, but they just don’t get paid for it.”

This sentence tells the prospect that he or she is already doing network marketing. It tells them that they don’t know they are doing it. And they are definitely not picking up a check for doing it!

So in the prospect’s mind, he or she is thinking, “Wait, If I’m doing network marketing everyday, it can’t be a pyramid. I wouldn’t do anything illegal. And if I’m doing it everyday, I won’t need any training. And of course I can do it, I’m already doing it. And if I’m doing it, and not getting paid for it, hey wait . . . how do I get paid for it?”

For a HOT MLM Training PassionFire Resource on Handling Objections: “Objections Course 101” In the PassionFire Online Store! Click here

Now the prospect is asking us, “How can I collect a check in network marketing?”

If your prospect thought this, how hard would it be to sign him or her up?

They have already been sold from the first sentence. So then you would continue your presentation, re: enforcing examples of how the prospect is doing MLM already in his life.

In summary, take the common objections you encounter . . . create a first sentence that destroys those objections . . .

Make the first sentence affect the prospect so that the prospect says, “Hey, tell me how I can get into this thing and start collecting.”

Now you have a partner, not an adversary. It’s easy to give presentations to partners. It’s death to give presentations to people with their defenses up.

Happy prospecting!

MLM Leadership Training Who Are You Following – Where Are They Taking You? – Part 2

By Dale Calvert

The 3%er Traits.

+ They having a very outgoing personality and people skills – Personality is not duplicatable and will only take you so far. Only systems, programs, and scripts are duplicatable.

+ They come from a successful small business or corporate management background – Tend to try to create an employee, employer relationship with theirdownline instead of a teacher–student relationship

+ They have always worked hard and created their own success – Their solution is always work harder. They don’t realize that they aren’t the issue. It doesn’t matter how hard they personally work. Duplication is the issue. Can their methods be duplicated EFFECTIVELY by the masses?

+ They posses a strong ego and usually end up writing 99% of the training programs within the network marketing industry. – The problem is that the methods they teach can only be duplicated by other 3%ers who aren’t going to follow them anyway……They are going to do it their own way also.

+ They are usually very credible and sincere people, and can attract a following of people very quickly. – When their organizations and income start to crumble they will usually jump to another company taking their followers with them. Unfortunately, in today’s network marketing environment I see many people following the 3%er from company to company. The 3% always makes a lot of money but the masses never seem too. A good question to ask, “Who are you following? Where are they taking you?”

Here are a few other observations regarding 3%ers I would like to share with you. They are fun people to be around. Most are better suited for traditional business success than network marketing. The most powerful and most unusual distributor you will find is what I call a TEACHABLE 3%er. To be totally frank, I only know of two on the entire planet.

I had planned on talking about 27%ers also this month, but that should probably wait until next month. However you will probably benefit more from this information if you dwell on this concept of 3%ers for awhile.

Remember “The teaching is in the words, but the learning is in the silence”.

I believe that the quality of our business and our life is in direct proportion to the quality of questions we ask ourselves. Some questions to consider.

Am I a 3%er?

Am I teachable?

Who is teaching me?

What is their track record?

Am I taking responsibility for my success?

Do I have a proven retail system to help my distributor organization generate immediate cash profits?

Do I teach my distributors what to do, what to say, when and how to say it?

Do I have a proven effective recruiting system to help my distributors recruit within their warm market?

Do I know exactly the first 10 steps I am going to take with a new person after I sponsor them into my organization?

Let’s discuss my favorite type of people to work with. The good, honest, hard working, TEACHABLE 27%ers. Unfortunately, there are not as many 27%ers today in society as there used to be. This fact alone makes it even more important to for you to spend quality time with these people when they do enter your organization. It is your obligation to provide these people with proven retailing, recruiting and personal development systems for them to build their business and themselves.

I cannot stress the word obligation enough! Listen, we all “kill a few” in the beginning of our network marketing careers. But sooner or later you must become a good student. You cannot teach that which you do not know! It is your responsibility to follow an upline “Pinnacle Leader”, master proven retail and recruiting systems and plug into strong personal development programs so you are able to teach the 27%ers within your entire organization!

The 4 Steps to Leadership Development..

27%ers need DIRECTION in the beginning. They are willing to work hard and make a commitment. Unlike the 3%er, they don’t want to wing it on their own. They want competent leadership that will direct their path. What is your specific plan that you take all new distributors through their first 24 hours in the business? Their first 30 days? Their first 90 days? You better have one, it is your OBLIGATION!

If you don’t have one, start going upline and ask the same question. Continue upline until you find a suitable answer and then model and duplicate.

You will eventually move into a COACHING mode with your new 27%er. In other words you have taught them a proven system for retailing products and recruiting people. You then continue to coach them in the system. In other words, we teach a specific system for recruiting with a videotape. When a person has seen the video, expresses that they are open for more information about our program, we invite them to one of our live opportunity briefings. If they don’t show up, we teach our organization to call them THAT NIGHT and with all the gusto they can muster say:

“John, I can’t believe you missed the briefing! We had over 50 people there, several new guests joined our business…it was Awesome! Listen John, are you still interested in evaluating our opportunity, or can I scratch you off my list?”

Suppose my new distributor had four people committed to the opportunity briefing, two showed up and sponsored and two didn’t make up. Most new people will be so excited about the two that sponsored that they may never follow up with the two no shows. The no shows may end up being better distributors, but if we don’t follow up we may never get the chance to find out.

As a good sponsor I would then coach my new distributor on exactly what to say when he calls the no shows to “scratch them”. If at all possible I will listen in on those calls as he does it from the hotel lobby or we may go sit in my car, and call them on my car phone directly after the opportunity briefing is over. My point is you must Direct, Direct, Direct and Coach, Coach, Coach, 27%ers in the beginning.

The third phase you move into with 27%ers is the SUPPORTING stage. I have said many times, “never get emotionally involved with a new distributor until they have proven that they can fall and get back up”. As Zig Zigler says “The only difference between a big shot and a little shot is a big shot is a little shot that kept on shooting.” Until they have proven to me that they can keep shooting I can never get involved with a new distributor emotionally.

After about six months or so you can move into a SUPPORTING mode with your new person. They have gone through their beginning slump, fallen and gotten back up. You have directed and coached them to the point that they know exactly what to do, what to say, and how to say it, when it comes to retailing and recruiting. They are working on themselves and following the personal development programs that you have recommended. They know what to do, it is just a matter of them doing it.

At this point you can start to get emotionally tied to the distributor, their family, and the dreams they have. You need to SUPPORT and encourage the person. There will still be some teaching and some directing of course put primarily you are to support. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. You must be extremely value focused, and do everything you can to support and help their dreams become a reality. Remember, “You truly can have anything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want!”

The fourth and final stage is that of DELEGATING. One of the critical mistakes that network marketing leaders make is what I call “Delegating too Soon”. The Leadership Development process is just that, a process. It doesn’t happen over night! When you have someone at a point of delegation they become your peer, your equal. They now have the proven ability to take people down the exact path that you brought them down. Step by step, concept by concept, key phrase by key phrase. They have the ability to take a 27%er and teach them a proven duplicatable system for retailing and recruiting as well as guide them in their personal development activities.

The Secret of Delegation. Until you develop a person to the point of DELEGATION………….YOU HAVE NOTHING!!!!!!! I must say that again, until you develop a person to the point of DELEGATION you have nothing. This process can take anywhere from 18 months to 5 years!

This business is about SYSTEMATICALLY developing 27%ers into leaders who in turn can develop 27%ers into leaders who in turn can develop 27%ers into leaders i.e. “Pinnacle Leadership”.

You throw a few 70%ers in the mix who are joining and quitting your organization constantly. You have one group of 70%ers coming and another group going at all times. From time to time a few of these 70%ers will bring you a 27%, and others will get into some heavy duty personal development programs and over time develop into 27%ers. Now add a few TEACHABLE 3%ers who understand that duplication is the issue and you have a thriving, growing organization. But it all starts with you becoming a good student, and learning the systems from a proven upline “Pentacle Leader”.

Please understand that your Long term sustained Success in Network Marketing can only be accomplished when you have the ability to:

SYSTEMATICALLY develop 27%ers into leaders who in turn can develop 27%ers into leaders who in turn can develop 27%ers into leader i.e. “Pinnacle Leadership”.

I hope you will read and reread this information.

There is a book titled “LEADERSHIP and the One Minute Manager” which covers the idea of Directing, Coaching, Supporting, and Delegating in more detail. I highly recommend it.

MLM Leadership Training -for Network Marketing – Who Are You Following – Where Are They Taking You? – Part 1

MLM Leadership Training -for Network Marketing – Who Are You Following – Where Are They Taking You? – Part 1

by Dale Calvert

I guess to really understand my training philosophy one of the first concepts you must understand is a concept I call 3%ers, 27%ers, & 70%ers. This underlying reality is really a very important foundation of why I believe what I believe and teach what I teach. I have been bombarded with questions regarding this concept from many people who have ordered the “Confessions of a Network Marketing Millionaire” video-training series.

It seems everyone in the industry has been talking about the 5% and the 95% for years. (Only 5% of the population can do network marketing.) When I started talking about the 3%, 27% and 70% it seemed to grab people’s attention.

The Realities.

I first started teaching this concept in the mid eighties during my Shaklee days. Like so many of the concepts I believe in, it came to me in the shower. I truly believe that most of what I teach, “came to me”. I don’t do a very good job at “thinking things up”. Throughout my network marketing MLM career I have just tried to figure out the way things are, and work with it, not fight it. There are some aspects of this business and some methods that I don’t like and really don’t feel comfortable with. However, I do them and teach them anyway because they work for the masses!

Too many network marketing gurus today suffer from a disease called “Too Cool-itis”. (I first heard this term used by Anothy Heflin, one of the powerful leaders within our organization.) There are many prospecting and retailing methods that absolutely work for the masses, but because the guru is too cool to wear a button, or place flyers on a public bulletin board, or have a bumper sticker or magnetic sign on their car they shy away from methods that work. This ultimately is cheating their home business organization. They simply don’t understand that their personal thoughts, feelings, and hang-ups are not the issue. Their network marketing business does not revolve around them; they aren’t the issue. The success of their people is what’s critical for their long term success.

The Three Reasons.

I truly believe that one of the top three reasons people fail in network marketing and live very mediocre lives over all, is they care too much about what other people think about them. You can never reach your full potential as long as you are worried about what somebody else thinks about you. I read a quote on a sugar packet one time that I will never forget. It simply said “Never try to explain yourself: Your friends don’t need an explanation, and your enemies aren’t going to believe you anyway”. What powerful advice. Dwell upon this thought for a minute. People aren’t thinking about you . . . they are too busy worrying what you are thinking about them …WOW.

“Too Cool-itis” will always stifle your growth potential and cheat your people. You must teach simple, duplicatable, methods that work for the masses. It doesn’t matter if I am a CEO of a Fortune 500 Corporation, welder, housewife, truck driver, dentist, factory worker, or chiropractor, I must be able to duplicate. If methods are not duplicatable by the masses, duplication stops. Personality and tremendous communications skills will only take you so far.

You can not build a long term network marketing business with the skills, attitudes, work ethic, and gift of gab you entered the industry with. Everyone, and I repeat everyone, must develop new skills, attitudes, and methods that can be duplicated by the masses or sooner or later duplication will stop. That is exactly why you see most large organizations tap out around the 10,000 distributor mark. To develop an organization of 50,000 plus distributors you must understand that what got you here (group of 10,000) won’t take you there (group of 50,000).

The 3%ers.

Follow this. 3%ers with drive, determination, work ethic, and personality plus, can only duplicate by finding others with drive, determination, work ethic and personality plus. Unfortunately, in network marketing people tend to recruit down. They will recruit people who are at a slightly lower economical, and social class than they are, who in turn recruit down, who in turn recruit down etc etc. Sooner or later, usually within 18 to 24 months, you end up with an organization full of hobos, or people looking for something for nothing. What I call 70%ers.

This trend of tapping out at 10,000 distributors or within the 18 month to 2 year period has been repeated tens of thousands of times by countless number of gurus within the industry. So what is the solution? Give the good, honest, hard working, dedicated 27%ers a step by step unified, duplicatable training system that can be effective for the masses!

So why isn’t this happening? 3%ers develop 99% of the training programs within the industry, and they are designed for 3%ers. 3%ers simply don’t understand how the masses think, so how can they develop effective training programs for them? 3%ers think everyone thinks like they do. They think everyone has the ability to tap the drive, determination, work ethic, and personality that they possess, and take for granted!

“Dale, what in the world are you talking about? 3%ers, 27%ers, 70%ers, 99%, 5%, 95%?!?!! I am decent in math, but this is ridiculous!” I am going to back up now and try to give you my definitions of 3%ers, 27%ers and 70%ers, and after I do, you are going to need to reread the above paragraphs.

—–The 70%ers—–

In theory we have 100% of the population in which to recruit from correct? According to data from the insurance industry the reality is this: 95% of the population at 65 are either dead or dead broke. How many times has that statistic been repeated in this industry? We have all heard it, or have we?

The reality is this-you and your network marketing opportunity are not going to drastically change this statistic. So why do you spend so much time, energy, effort and financial resources to try to change a statistic that is impossible to change?

My data tells me that of the 95% there are approximately another 25% of the population that it are possible to help. 5% are going to make it with or without us, plus another 25% if we give them the direction and leadership they need. That leaves 70% of the population that simply can not, or will not be financially successful in network marketing or anything else. We can love these people, we can appreciate them as valuable human beings with unique talents and gifts, but having the drive, determination and work ethic to develop financial independence in network marketing, or any other career, is simply not within their reach.

Many of you may feel that this attitude is cold-hearted or uncaring. Again, there are many things about this industry that I don’t feel comfortable with. I wish that we could save the world with this industry. I love and value people, all people, but I have learned to accept that which I cannot change. 70% of the population will live mediocre financial lives, that is simply the way it is. Over the years I have learned to not fight it & accept it because I can’t change it. I have dedicated myself to learn, grow, develop and become as good as I possibly can become at helping the other 30%. My advice to you is to do the same thing. Leadership starts by knowing who it is you can help, and who you can’t. As my good friend Jim Devault says, “You can’t push a rope”.

So 70%ers are people who simply don’t have the drive, ambition, self-image, or people skills, to create wealth. They tend to play the lottery every week and blame the government, their boss, and economy for their lack of financial success. They would rather spend their life watching TV and complaining than taking responsibility and changing. They have a victim mentality.

Most 70%ers will never join your opportunity because they are broke and don’t have the $25.00 for an application fee. Deep down they know they would fail if they tried anyway. The few that do join have the philosophy, “if at first I don’t succeed, fix the blame quick”. They will only be part of your organization for a short time. They try very little, quit, blame you for their failure and then go back to playing the lottery.

My advice to you is respect these people as fellow human beings, encourage them, give them a copy of the book The Magic of Thinking Big, but don’t be naive enough to think you are going to build a business with them. Unfortunately, in today’s network marketing environment many companies and distributor advertising campaigns and marketing plans tend to target these people.

The Scam Tape.

Pick up any network marketing publication and read the headlines of the advertising. It is obvious that the trend towards mediocrity is alive and well. I became so sick of the “we do all the work, and you make all the money” ads that I recorded a cassette entitled “Network Marketing is a SCAM!” Six weeks after this tape was introduced into the market place Cutting Edge Opportunities Magazine ran an article on this cassette.

Those insiders who had the opportunity to listen to this thought provoking cassette prior to its general release have called it “…the best industry cassette of the last 30 years!” Other comments include “…listened again and again and my head is still spinning! …talk about a paradigm shift, I finally get it! …I knew the concept was pure but many people have been going down the wrong path. This should clear things up for everybody.”

One thing is sure-you will either love this tape or hate it. You will discover why 95% of distributors lose money in network marketing, why most traditional business owners don’t take your opportunity seriously, why most distributors quit your organization within 90 days and continue to jump from program to program. You will also learn how to break these trends and create true long-term success and passive income.

One of the key points I tried to convey in the SCAM tape is that we must return to our roots of inspiring people to personal growth and development. We must break the trend toward mediocrity that is binding and stagnating this industry and start telling people the truth, what they need to hear instead of want to hear.

When a person is sponsored into your organization you must understand that the odds of them being a key player within your group is slim to none. However the odds of them knowing a key person which can make a major impacton your group is extremely high. Never is that concept more evident than with a 70%er. That is why we teach a concept called “Blitzing Warm Markets”.

When you sponsor a person, especially a 70%er you must get into their warm market immediately and find out who they know. Every dud knows a stud! If you wait around for them to contact that key person, it will never happen. The 70%er isn’t going to hang around any longer than 90 days anyway. A good mental paradigm to work under is that everyone you sponsor is going to quit within 90 days, so you better find out who the quality people are that they know.

Leadership must understand who you can help and who you can’t. All people on all this earth have the ability within them to become powerful leaders. However, 70% will sabotage that ability. They always have and they always will; neither you, I, nor our network marketing opportunities are going to change that FACT!

I truly believe that the better you become at understanding who you are dealing with – the quicker, and more efficiently you will be able to build your business.

In my opinion 95% of the so called “Heavy Hitters” in this industry are 3%ers. Below is an overview of this type of person.

Most 3%ers build organizations extremely quickly. Unfortunately many times they fall apart just as quickly as they are put together. They usually tap out around the 10,000 distributor plateau and start backing up quickly. Many 3%ers hit it big one time by being in the right place at the right time and spend the rest of their network marketing career trying to do it again.

Next I would like to share with you some of the most positive attributes of 3%ers, and the unseen negatives that are sometimes created.
