MLM Network Marketing Training – Understanding Your MLM Compensation Plan.

MLM Network Marketing Training – Understanding Your MLM Compensation Plan.

What Is Your MLM Plan?

Money.

That is what drives the MLM industry…the quest for a better life, a better future, and a better income.

Why did you join your Network Marketing company?

For something to do?

Yeah…right.

That is why 99% of all folks who enroll in MLM companies join…for a better lifestyle…and the hope of making more money is what drives the industry…

Every company has a way they pay their distributors, known as a “Compensation Plan”..or “Comp Plan”. Your company has one and that is how you are paid…by the volume you have created by the Comp Plan.

You go out, and create Volume of sales, and you get a certain percentage of the sales. Most plans focus on the sale, or movement of products and services to the marketplace, and that is what drives the wealth vehicle.

There are different types of Comp Plans, and there are many more Hybrid forms…but generally there are 5 different types, and you need to really understand the Plan that your company has.

The 5 Basic Kinds of Compensation Plans.

1) The Stairstep
2) The Unilevel
3) The Binary
4) The Breakaway
5) The Matrix

1) The Stairpstep is a simple plan that has requirements that you must meet to get up the “Stairs of Success”…each stairstep is a promotion based on Volume usually, and each promotion you make more money. Usually you must qualify each month for the rank you obtain to get paid at that rank. And the stairstep usually has a number of levels it pays down to.

2) The Unilevel is a simple “Number of levels” that the company will pay you, and usually there is no promotion or rank. You make money by getting a certain override off of the volume, and usually there is a requirement of volume to qualify for a check.

3) The Binary.

The Binary is an interesting design for a Comp Plan. It usually has 2 “legs” that you can have “Business centers” in, and you have a volume requirement to get paid on each leg. There is what is called “balance” in the Binary…you must balance the volume form each leg to make sure you don’t have a runaway leg…one leg explodes, while the other one sits idle…you must balance the two, and you usually can override the same volume a number of times with different business centers.

4) The Breakaway.

This plan has become somewhat unpopular in the MLM industry, as you lose the business you build, once it gets to a certain level of success, and it “breaks away” to no longer be a part of what you get paid on. It usually is a stairstep type of Plan, but I have seen it in others as well.

5) The Matrix

The matrix is a computer driven plan that people are put into your group by computer, and they go in the next available slot. Usually this plan is combined with some form of a Binary, and it does work well if there are a lot of people that are recruited. When you recruit someone, the computer searches down for the next open slot, and positions them there. There are some plans that allow you to override the computer’s selection if you want them to go a particular place in your downline.

Don’t Complicate the MLM Comp Plan.

Ok…so now you must see what kind of plan you have…see your upline if you have any questions at all, and get familiar with the plan you have and how it works.

INFERNO Secret:

DO NOT get too complicated on telling the plan to someone. Keep it simple and make sure they understand that they CAN MAKE MONEY with it…as that is their greatest concern.

Generally, when you talk about a Comp Plan, you will want to mention 4 general areas about it that many people will want to know about….

1) The First area is Retail Profit.

You must show the prospect that they can earn a retail profit with your products and services…usually it about 50%…

2) The Second Area is Team Overrides.

This is where, just like a Real Estate broker, or Insurance Broker, you can develop a team of Reps and help them become successful, and get paid a certain % of override off of them, just like the Real Estate and Insurance Brokers do.,,,,,

You are sort of a “Master Broker” for your company, and help others do the same thing. This is where most people have trouble with MLM….they don’t understand that what we do is just like a Real Estate or Insurance Broker…only better.

3) The Third Area is Leadership Bonuses.

This is where you help develop Successful leaders in your group, and you get an additional bonus or override form your group….you get rewarded by helping others develop their Leadership….the most fair compensation in the world.

4) The Fourth Area are Rewards…like trips and cars.

This area is a favorite among Network Marketers…..once you have reached a level of success, many companies will give you an additional car payment money, and also take you on trips that you can qualify for…a great incentive to work!!!

Be sure you understand the components of your Comp Plan…this was just a VERY General Overview, and that is all.

Again…..KEEP THE PLAN SIMPLE.

The More Simple you keep it, the more powerful it becomes in your MLM Business.

Blessings…

MLM Network Marketing Training – Lets Focus In on What Your MLM Products Are…

MLM Network Marketing Training – Lets Focus In on What Your MLM Products Are…

The Product Focused MLM Company.

You must understand this next statement:

The successful network marketing company is “Product Focused and Business Driven…”

What does that mean?

It means that your company must always be products and services focused, but driven by the business opportunity. And your products and services must be the “anchor” of your MLM business.

If you have bad products…so goes your business…you MUST be sure your company has QUALITY Products! QUALITY creates part of the VALUE in the prospect’s mind!

Your products create the value to the consumer, and you must be able to talk intelligently about what your are offering to them. But here is a warning:

Do Not get too detailed about your products and services…you see, people really don’t care, for the most part, about the ingredients or technical aspects of your products and services…

INFERNO Secret:

Most people have one question about your products and services…”How are they going to improve my life..and do they really work?”

Your job is to educate, NOT SELL, the customer on the merits and value of your product and service line. If you educate them, and you will learn later in TrainingFire how to do that, you will find them much more open to trying them….

What type of products and services does your company provide you? You must know what we at PassionFire call:

The “Rules of MLM Product Marketing…”

There are 4 of them:

1) “The Rule of Details..”

Don’t get lost in the details of your products and services…get lost in the VALUE that they bring to the customers life. Learn about what you are marketing, but then blend that in with how it will help CHANGE their life..(CLUE!!!!!!!!!!!)

2) “The Rule of How to…”

You must understand how your products and services do work, but only to the point of being able to talk intelligently about them. Don’t overwhelm the prospect with your knowledge…but EXCITEMENT about the products.

3) “The Rule of Focus…”

Keep your focus on the MAIN product and services….if there are a LOT of them, keep your focus on the ones that are the main ones, and learn about them, and master what you need to talk about them. The others, you need to be aware of, but keep your focus on the MAIN ones, and know how to talk about them.

4) “The Rule of Value…”

You will never market any products to anyone if they don’t see VALUE in what your products. Know what the value is to the consumer with your products, and know, when it is prudent, the overview details of the products to enhance the value of your products.

Ok.

The Types of MLM Products.

What kind of products and services are there out there?

Basically 2:

1) Tangible

2) Intangible.

Tangible……

These are the products you can TOUCH, SEE, SMELL, and TASTE. They are the ones you can hold in your hands….like make up, vitamins, diet powders, cleaning solutions, part favors, toys, and the list goes on….

And the Tangibles are the biggest portion of the MLM industry…especially the supplement portion…because most people like to market what they can TOUCH and FEEL.

Intangibles……

Intangibles are the products and services you CANNOT touch, see, and feel. They are the services like Internet services, Legal Services, Tax services, Life Insurance services, and similar types of products and services. It is a very fast growing part of the MLM industry.

These products you need a little more detail knowledge about them as to show the customer they can provide VALUE to their life. And the understanding of HOW they work will provide some good conversation with your prospects on the benefits of owning your services.

You need to ask yourself some questions about your MLM products…

“What is my favorite product and why?”

“How do my products benefit people and change their life?”

“What products does the company sell the most of?”

“What is the average price of each product?”

“What has some great testimonials about your products?”

“”How large is the market for your products and services?”

“Who is your competition?”

“Why would somebody want your products?”

“What products seem to have the most SIZZLE about them?”

Most MLM companies have multiple products, and the one you like the most, you will be the most PASSIONATE about, and will talk about the most.

INFERNO Secret:

The product you have the most PASSION about, you will create the most value for.

That is what we call the “Passion-Value” Rule. Know what you are the most passionate about, and you will have the most “Emotional Attachment” to, and that would be the product you will be most likely to talk about the most.

Know your products ands services line…understand the overview of them, and focus on the MAIN ones, and keep your focus on those for the most part. Have and understanding of the other products and services, but usually, 80% of your volume will be done by 20% of the products….keep that in mind in your MLM Network Marketing Business.

MLM Network Marketing Training-The Secret Power of MLM Goal Setting

MLM Network Marketing Training-The Secret Power of MLM Goal Setting

Getting Started in MLM Goal Setting.

Figuring out your MLM goals is probably one of the most important and one of the most overlooked steps for creative professionals starting their business. Ideally you should put together a business plan. However, I have yet to meet a creative professional (including myself) who has one. (In fact, if you do have a Network Marketing business plan, please contact me. I’d love to chat with you about it.) Second best is getting your goals down on paper. Here are some things to include.

* Your personal mission statement. What do you want to accomplish in your life? Not just as a creative professional, artist or writer, but as a person. Knowing your mission will make organizing your time much easier.

* Your creative or artistic goals — both long-term and short- term. What do you want to accomplish in three months? Six months? This year? Five years from now?

* Your financial goals – both long-term and short-term. Don’t forget to write down how much money you want to make.

* Your plans for your MLM business
— both long-term and short-term. Break it down the same as your creative or artistic goals — three months, six months, one year and five years. Include a marketing plan as well. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just figure out who your target market is, where your target market is (i.e., local, regional, specific cities or national), and how you’re going to reach your target market.

* Action steps for each goal, including the marketing plan
. Break each goal into manageable steps, number each step and add a completion date. Make a separate copy of this and put it where you can incorporate these action steps into your daily activities.

The MLM Goal Setting Place.

Don’t rush this process. In fact, you should make it a treat for yourself. Go on an MLM retreat. Try and get away for at least a day if at all possible (a couple of days would be better yet). Go somewhere where you won’t be interrupted (and that includes the cell phone). Allow yourself some quiet time to really think. If it helps, do some meditating or journaling during this time.

Don’t worry about it being perfect either. This is a working document. Ideally you should review it every six months or a year and see where you are and what’s changed.

Now, when I first started my business five years ago, I hadn’t planned anything or written anything down.

This was a mistake.

Sure I had some vague notions in my head of where I wanted my business and my writing to go, but by not committing anything to paper, I didn’t end up there. My first three years of my business I was busy and making money, but I wasn’t getting anywhere near the vague notions dancing around in my head. Even more amazing, I couldn’t figure out why.

So two years ago, I started a regular practice of writing down my goals and plan (much like the above). I do it twice a year, and you wouldn’t believe the difference. Sure, my plans are far bigger than what I actually accomplish, and I’ve also found myself modifying and changing my action steps (the goals remain pretty constant, but how I attain those goals does change).

Best yet, I’m now seeing results. I’m accomplishing my goals.

Network Marketing Goals Take Time.

Take the time to go through this process. The rewards are worth it.

Creativity Exercise — Goal setting and creativity

If every year you find yourself setting goals and never making ANY strides toward reaching them, perhaps it’s time to ask yourself why. Could it be they aren’t YOUR goals but someone else’s goals for you?

I don’t care what the goal is — stopping smoking, losing weight, starting an online business, writing that novel — there’s a reason it keeps climbing up, then falling off the goal list. And until you figure out WHY that MLM goal is stuck in the never-never land of goal setting, you’ll never actually pull it into reality.

Is it because you don’t know where to start? Or is the project so big you’re afraid to start? Or you’re stuck somewhere in the middle and don’t know what to do next?

Or is it because you really don’t want to do it?

Okay, I’m probably dredging up all sorts of demons now, but truly, those demons need to be exorcised or they’re constantly going to be standing between you and your goal.

What I suggest is to take some quiet time and do a little soul searching. Journaling and meditation are both excellent ways of opening up a dialogue between you and your muse. Your muse is an excellent resource for you. If you ask, it will tell you which goals really matter and really don’t matter to you.

And, if it turns out that goal is something you don’t want to do? Then stop putting it on your goal list. I mean it. Quit making yourself feel like a failure by constantly sticking it on that list.

The Psychology of MLM Goals.

What if the goal is something like quitting smoking? Something you know you have to do because it’s hurting your health? Try this instead. Rather than making it your goal to quit smoking, make it your goal to figure out why you don’t want to quit. And what you can do to help yourself become committed to quitting.

Whatever you do, don’t make turn this exercise into a license to beat yourself up. Be nice to yourself. You’re doing this to help, not hurt, yourself.

MLM Network Marketing Training-Who Is For an MLM Home Business?

MLM Network Marketing Training-Who Is For an MLM Home Business?

Who is for an MLM Home Business??

Anyone with a desire or urge to start an MLM Home Based Business can venture into this field. All you need is a computer and who has not got one or access to one these days? An elementary knowledge of the working of a computer and the Internet is sufficient to get started. Many things can be picked up as you progress. This is what most of the people do.

The beauty of this Internet Home Business is that Age and Sex , Race and Religion are no barriers. It is sans borders. Entrepreneurs living in any part of the world can participate in thousands of Affiliate programs that are either Regional or Global in nature.

There are many programs that are Free to join! In fact there are several Network Marketing Affiliate programs that provide Entrepreneurs with Free Websites and Tools too. You could have your own personal website if you are prepared to spend a few dollars.

Why?

This is a pertinent question indeed! Some of the reasons for starting a Home Based Business are:

1. A desire to earn an Additional income to supplement the monthly income.
2. A desire to run your own home business and not depend on your Boss’s pay packet.
3. Dissatisfaction with your present Boss or your employment.
4. Being out of work or laid off.
5. Circumstances forcing you to be with the family or ageing parents.
6. A Childhood ambition to have your own business.

When?

You can start an MLM Home Based Business at any age, It can be at twenty, fifty or even at seventy. What matters most is that you have to be sufficiently motivated and have the urge and desire to do it.

Allocating two hours a day for your cherished dream should not be difficult to start with. In fact about twenty hours a week would be useful and advantageous. I am aware of people who have retired from active work but are keeping themselves gainfully occupied by doing an Internet Home Based Business.

The MLM Home Business Plan.

To be successful in life you should have a Plan, more so for your Internet Business Opportunity. Draw up a short term and a long term plan for what you intend to achieve. Initially draw up a Plan for the first three months to start with and try to stick with it, come what may.

While you are at the computer, Pop ups and other advertisements can and will divert your attention from your objective. Do not run after the goose that is going to lay the golden egg for you and waste your valuable time.

Top Marketers are brilliant people who spend much time and money in researching how to divert your attention and I can tell you, they are not going to fail! I should know! I have been in the marketing business for several years though not in the internet field . Hence you should remain completely focused on your work.

Where?

The Network Marketing Office.

Unlike in a brick and mortar business, to operate a Business from home, the Home Based Business Entrepreneur needs no separate building. Your physical place of business will be your very home and no high start up fees is necessary. The computer can be set up wherever you like so that it is convenient to work with and free from noises and distraction.

Your success will to some extent depend on the support you receive from the members of your family. The spouse can be of great assistance by reading and researching resources and articles and doing a lot of other preliminary work, which can substantially reduce the number of hours you have to spend on the computer. In other words your spouse can be your partner in your Home Based Business.

The Greatest Home Business MLM Benefit.

The greatest benefit of this Internet Business Opportunity is that it works twenty-four hours(24/7) a day and is Portable. Wherever you travel, within the country or to any part of the world your Business travels with you. You have to carry your lap top along, that’s it. Otherwise find access to a computer. It is as simple as that.

Why wait? Start working on your Home Based Business seriously. Work at Home, Work from Home or Work away from Home and reap the benefits the Internet Revolution has showered on you, the Internet Entrepreneur.

MLM Network Marketing Training-10 Ways to Multiply Your MLM Sales

MLM Network Marketing Training-10 Ways to Multiply Your MLM Sales

The First MLM Sale.

1. When you make your first sale, follow-up with the customer. You could follow-up with a “thank you” email and include an advertisement for other Network Marketing products you sell. You could follow-up every few months.

2. You could upsell to your customers. When they’re at your order page, tell them about a few extra related products you have for sale. They could just add it to their original order.

3. Tell your customers if they refer four customers to your web site, they will receive a full rebate of their purchase price. This will turn one sale into three sales.

4. When you sell a product, give your customers the option of joining an affiliate program so they can make commissions selling your product. This will multiply the sale you just made.

5. Sell the reprint/reproduction rights to your MLM products. You could include an ad on or with the product for other products you sell. You could make sales for the reproduction rights and sales on the back end product.

6. You could cross promote your product with other businesses’ products in a package deal. You can include an ad or flyer for other products you sell and have other businesses selling for you.

Shipping Your MLM Product.

7. When you ship out or deliver your product, include a coupon for other related products you sell in the package. This will attract them to buy more products from you.

8. Send your customers a catalog of add-on products for the original product they purchased. This could be upgrades, special services, attachments, etc. If they enjoy your product they will buy the extra add-ons.

9. Sell gift certificates for your products. You’ll make sales from the purchase of the gift certificate, when the recipient cashes it in. They could also buy other items from your web site.

10. Send your customers free products with their MLM product package. The freebies should have your ad printed on them. It could be bumper stickers, ballcaps, t-shirts etc. This will allow other people to see and order.

MLM Network Marketing Training-Four Simple Tips for Networking Outside of the BOX

MLM Network Marketing Training-Four Simple Tips for Networking Outside of the BOX

By Todd Falcone

The MLM Box.

What box? I don’t live in a box! What are you talking about?

I’m talking about that little square we live in every day. No…not our home, not our room, nor our office. It’s where we reside in our minds and how we go about living our lives. The box represents our actions and our thoughts that bring about different results in the things that we do.

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Find out what everybody else is doing and do the exact opposite if you want to be successful” right? That is certainly the beginning of living outside of the box in one dimension.

To obtain better results in Network Marketing , do something different. Do something unusual or unexpected. Stick out. BE somebody. Uniqueness is a wonderful quality. Establish “points” of difference in all that you do. Living outside of the box is much more than simply USP (Unique Selling Propositions). It’s how we think, how we act, and how we live that makes the greater difference in not only our lives, but the lives we touch.

Even entrepreneurs reside inside of the box most of the time. Yes…even the successful one’s do. It’s easy. It’s what we know. Then, why in the world am I writing about getting out of the box? Is it just to give you more work, more to think about, more to do? The answer is both yes and no. Certainly, not for the simple sake of making you do more, but for the complexity of making you do more. Confused yet? I thought so.

The Creative Network Marketer.

You see…when your mind is stimulated, it creates. When you’re challenged, you rise to the task. Yes, you could easily live inside of the box your entire life and do quite well. Live a comfortable life, as they say. But, is that really living? It might sound like a great way to go. But there’s no growth in simplicity.

It’s easy to be successful living life inside of the box. However, it’s more fun and more fulfilling “outside” of the box…and, quite a bit more financially rewarding if done right. When you realize how good life can be outside of the little box we call home, you will want to venture out much more often.

What does “outside of the box” mean? It actually has multiple meanings. But…I’ll make it easy for you to understand.

When you are outside of the box you do things that are more challenging, more interesting, more intriguing, and more thought provoking. You simply do things unlike others. You make efforts to create memorable experiences. Your creations are lasting and people remember them. You are different.

MLM Outside of the Box.

Here are four ways to live life outside of the box:

  1. Smile when least expected. First of all, smiling is contagious and releases all sorts of good things in your body, including endorphins. Endorphins are substances that help to create a sense of pleasure, peace and well being. This may sound trivial or simple to you. But it’s something that can make a big difference. You see, most people don’t really smile that often. You remember the song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”? Look around, most people are worried and unhappy. Think about the difference you can make by simply putting on a smile! You’ll feel better, they’ll feel better and you’ll be making the world a better place. Think about how different it would be to walk through the streets of Manhattan smiling at everyone and getting a smile back. That’s a bit of a big task…but, at least you can do your part!
  2. Say it differently. How many times have we heard the hum-drum opening, “Hi…my name is…I’m calling you because you were referred to me as…etc.” First of all, I bore MYSELF silly if I stick to the same old stuff when prospecting. Imagine what I’d be doing to my prospects if I didn’t throw them the “change up” every now and again! I’m not saying that you ALWAYS have to do it differently, but it sure keeps you more on top of your game when you force yourself to say things differently that you normally do. Think about how a prospect would feel if you picked up the phone and said something entirely different than what they may expect. Of course, you’re all desperately waiting for me to share with you this brilliant new way of saying things to your prospects, right? Well…I wouldn’t be forcing you to think outside of the box if I said it for you now, would I? Be different. Do it differently. Leave varying messages on answering machines when you’re prospecting. Test out different words. THINK differently.
  3. Advertise in a new way. Running an ad? Be a little crazy. Look at what everyone else is saying and say it differently. Stop using the same old headlines and ad copy. Get CREATIVE. Isn’t that what “out of the box” thinking really is all about? It may take some time to get it down right. You may have to test out many different ads before you get it right. But, when you finally hit it right on the nose, you’ll be amazed at the massive results you’ll get. Try a different publication, location or newspaper to run your ad. ADVERTISE differently.
  4. Present it uniquely. Learn how to tell your story so good, so efficiently, and in such an entirely different and entertaining way that you simply can’t help but capture the interest of your audience. Once you have bonded and connected with a prospect that you would like to have in your business, you’ve got to tell your story. Telling your MLM story is simply conveying information to your qualified prospect that allows them to review your business in detail. However, there are lots of ways of telling the story. There are different mediums like live one-on-one presentations, conference calls, recorded overviews, websites, and so on. And, there are different WAYS in which you can present. Obviously, I’m not talking about ‘inventing’ some new word or piece of the English language that doesn’t yet exist. However, if you simply think a bit differently, you may be able to lay out the details of your story in even a modestly different way that may prove to produce a greater desired result.

I think you’re getting my drift here. Do it like everybody else does, and you’ll get what everybody else gets. Look like everyone else does, and you’ll be like everyone else. Sometimes it takes a little purple hair or a little flair to stick out in the crowd. Be daring with your business. Don’t worry about being part of the “in” crowd when you go about your business. Sometimes even successful entrepreneurs get stuck in the repetitive routines of daily life and get a little on the dry side.

Expressing your unique points of difference in everything that you do can do nothing but great things for you. You want to stick out, not blend in when it comes to developing yourself into a successful entrepreneur or Network Marketing leader.

Be willing to step outside of the box and you’ll be remembered. Stick in the box at all times and you’ll likely blend into the mediocrity and the vanilla of society.

MLM Network Marketing Training-The Essence of MLM Prospecting

MLM Network Marketing Training-The Essence of MLM Prospecting

by Paul J. Meyer

In the PEOPLE Business.

You have a great job! You’re part of a great company! You have a great future! You are in the people business!

I wish all people in business knew that they are in the people business!

Therefore, when if comes to prospecting, begin immediately to dedicate yourself in the idea that people are no longer people — they are all prospects for your company’s services.

When this idea is firmly implanted in your head, you will be amazed at how differently everyone appears. Before long, your new insight, attitude, and belief about people will create an even more remarkable change…a totally altered reaction toward what you had before considered “just a crowd.”

What am I saying?

I am saying that the people you see in cars, on the sidewalks, in the theaters, at restaurants, in sports arenas, and in various groups at holiday parades…they are no longer anonymous, faceless masses.

Rather, they are all prospective customers for the MLM services that you now offer.

Here’s something even more important:

Once you establish this truth, that “people are prospects…and prospects are people,” you will notice an even greater change in yourself. Prospecting will now be of paramount importance.

You instinctively and intuitively will be arranging your day, your time, and your life to see and talk to more and more new people until it becomes a dynamic drive, a force, an obsession. When this happens, you are on your way to a permanent and successful career in Network Marketing.

Because you now have a prospecting awareness, a prospecting consciousness, and a prospecting attitude, you are fast on the way to developing the prospecting habit.

Why is prospecting so important?

Because the whole process of selling is aimed at bringing together a product or service and the people that can benefit from its use…your clients.

The MLM Observation.

I have observed over the years that companies spend an enormous amount of money teaching their sales people and marketing consultants all sorts of skills and abilities:

How to dress, how to act, the history of the company, how to make sales presentations, using high-tech equipment with audio, video or computer displays, etc. Frankly, it’s all for naught. Because, without prospects, that person will become just another statistic.

Improving talent is meaningless without mastering the art of prospecting. In other words, you must develop a continuous flow of people to see, on a consistent basis, or it’s impossible to sell anything or any service.

Here is a list of a few of the methods of prospecting:

  1. Cold Calls
  2. Cold Canvas
  3. Observation
  4. Endless-Chain Referral System
  5. Old Customers
  6. Nests of Like-Minded People
  7. Centers of Influence
  8. Leads from Corporate Advertising

How many methods of prospecting are you taking advantage of?

And please understand that the more you know about them — your prospects — the more qualified buyers you will develop, and the higher your closing averages will be.

Set your goal today to make prospecting the most important part of your entire professional consulting, selling, and Network Marketing career!

Because I would rather be a Master MLM Prospector than the Wizard of Speech and have no one to tell my story to any day…

To your success,

MLM Network Marketing Training-TOP TEN WAYS TO SOFTEN YOUR PRESENTATION WITH BUFFERS™ AND EASY EXITS™

MLM Network Marketing Training-TOP TEN WAYS TO SOFTEN YOUR PRESENTATION WITH BUFFERS™ AND EASY EXITS™

By Hilton Johnson, The MLM Coach™

I’ve never been the type of person who enjoyed making prospects and customers feel uncomfortable doing business with me. I hate rejection and I hate being pushy or aggressive.

In the 38 years that I’ve been in direct sales, I have accumulated hundreds of little phrases, comments, responses and some special language designed to soften my approaches and presentations.

Experience has taught me that when people come in contact with most network marketers, they are automatically on guard about how threatening the MLM distributor will be and how much time their presentation will take.

To diffuse that kind of resistance, I soften my approach and presentations with “Buffers” and I convey that I’m not going to take up much of their time with “Easy Exits.”

Top 5 MLM Buffers.

Here are my Top Five Favorite Buffers:

1. Identify with Your Prospects

When your prospects tell you that they’ve had a bad experience (or heard about bad experiences) with network marketing, identify with them by responding this way:

“I can appreciate what you’re saying.”

“If I were in your shoes, I’d feel the same way.”

“I understand exactly what you mean…I’ve been in that position, too.”

2. Agreement Buffers

When prospects tell you the prices of your products are too high, they are not the sales type or they would like to think everything over, you can respond with:

“I agree with you…on the surface, the prices do seem high.”

“Welcome to the club…I’ve never thought of myself as a sales type.”

“I totally agree that you should think this over. It’s a very important decision.

3. Buffer with Apologies

Whenever you make a prospecting call (especially by telephone) you can diffuse resistance right in the beginning by leading with an apology:

Hello Ms. ________, I’m sorry to bother you. I have some new information regarding _______ that I thought you might find interesting. Do you have a minute to speak with me?”

Other ways to use apologies:

“It’s not my job to inconvenience you in any way.”

“I can see that I’ve caused you to misunderstand me. Please forgive me. What I meant to say was…”

“I gave you incorrect information. I apologize from the bottom of my heart.”

4. MLM Permission Buffers

You can take the “sting” out of your powerful questions and important messages by asking permission to ask questions or to demonstrate:

“It would be helpful to me if I could understand your situation a little better. May I ask you some questions?”

“With your permission, I will explain how the program works…okay?”

“May I make a suggestion...why don’t I show you folks the marketing plan and then you can make a more informed decision…fair enough?”

5. Thank Them for the Complaint

If and when you have prospects or customers complain to you about you, your company, your products, services, etc., you can dramatically diffuse that situation by saying something like this:

“I’m really glad you brought that to my attention.”

If you personally made the screw-up, you can make your response even better by following with something like this:

“You’ve made me a better distributor today. I’m going to take immediate action to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Thank you.”

You can further eliminate or reduce sales resistance by conveying that you’re not going to abuse or waste your prospect’s time. You do this with “Easy Exits.”

Here are my Top MLM Five Favorite Easy Exits:

1. Accept It Or Reject It

Before you go on an appointment or just before you give a demonstration, set the stage with this language:

“Mr and Ms. _____, with your permission (Buffer), I will show my program to you. When I’m finished, you can accept it or reject it as you see fit. In other words, it’s entirely up to you. Is that fair?”

2. Sizing Up Your Prospects

When you have been invited to meet with your prospects (in person or by phone) for the purpose of explaining your products, services and/or your business opportunity, you can tell how receptive they are by asking this question when you arrive:

“Folks, how much time have you set aside for our meeting today?”

If they tell you they only have a few minutes to examine your program, this is a red-flag. In that case you may want to question why they have set aside so little time, reschedule the appointment or disqualify them altogether. (Hey gang, let’s not waste OUR time either.)

If they tell you that you can have all of the time you need, you can be sure that you have a very qualified prospect and you’re going to have fun giving your presentation.

3. Only Takes 30 Minutes

Whenever you have a little difficulty getting an appointment, this language will almost always get you in the door:

“Mr. _____, if I’m with you more than 30 minutes, it’s because you’ve asked me to stay…fair enough?”

(If your presentation takes more than 30 minutes, adjust the time accordingly.)

The MLM Exit.

4. Let Them Off the Hook

Before you begin your formal presentation, if you give the following Easy Exit, your prospects will not only give you their undivided attention and be more receptive to your proposal, but they will feel more relaxed and comfortable with you throughout your presentation:

“Mr.and Ms. ________, if you feel the least bit uncomfortable with any part of my program, please stop me and I’ll be on my way. I want you to know that I’m the easiest network marketer in the world to get rid of.”

5. In a Hurry

If you let your prospects know that you’re in kind of a hurry, the message will be clear to them that you’re a busy, successful business person and you’re not going to waste anybody’s time?especially your own. That will cause them to listen very carefully to what you have to say. Here are some Easy Exit examples that will do that for you:

“I’ve only got a minute to stay when I bring the (video) to you.”

“Just one quick question and I’ll be out of your way?”

“It only takes a few minutes to explain what I’m doing, and if you’re not interested, I’ll get out of your hair.” (Don’t say this to a man who is baldheaded.)

Special Note: Buffers and Easy Exits are NOT designed to mislead or misrepresent you or your company. They must be used with the highest degree of integrity.

MLM Network Marketing Training-The MLM Fear of the Telephone and Conquering It.

MLM Network Marketing Training-The MLM Fear of the Telephone and Conquering It.

by Tim Sales /www.mlmbrilliance.com

Let’s face it. More phone calls = More appointments. More appointments = More Money. But if Fear of Phoning stops you or your people from making more calls, then none of you will make more money.

Overcoming Your Fears

In the Navy, people overcome their fear of defusing bombs underwater with 1 simple process: Drill, drill, drill — and when you’re sick of drilling, drill some more.

This doesn’t mean read, read and when you’re sick of reading, read some more; that doesn’t make someone skilled at defusing bombs. It’s the same with getting appointments. Not that reading and learning the way bombs go “boom” and phones go “ring-ring” isn’t important — it is. But it’s only part of knowing how to overcome fear and be successful.

The point is that to overcome any type of fear in Network Marketing , you must have both knowledge and practice. And there’s no better way of overcoming telephone fears in Network Marketing than TEAM CALLING.

Why Some MLM Distributors Quit

Think about what would have happened if the Navy trainers ever told the bomb squad to go home and read about the most common ways a bomb blows up and then sent them out by themselves to defuse a bomb. And yet that’s what Network Marketing leaders are often guilty of — asking their new distributors to go home and make their list of prospects.

They’re given a sheet (sometimes) of objections they “might” encounter and then are told to call their prospects and invite them to take a look at a great business. BOOM! Ever wonder why that new distributor disappears within 30 days?

Few Guests at Our Meetings = Assault Team Training

Ever have very few guests at your regular business meetings? It happens.

Well, I put together a program called Assault Team Training — an event to teach people how to get past the fear of the phone.

Eight distributors were invited to the event (because we had four phone lines and wanted two people per phone). To attend, each distributor had to bring 250 names with phone numbers.

Everyone spent the first hour around a table writing a script of what they would say on the telephone to invite contacts to a business briefing that we scheduled three days later. Then each person read their script back to the group and the group critiqued the script with one major emphasis: Prevent the objection. We all agreed that in the invitation call, it’s much easier to prevent objections than to have to handle them. (See table below.)

AVOID THESE PHRASES INSTEAD USE
I recently became involved I’m working on a project
I’d like to get you involved I’m looking for the right person
Are you looking for a business opportunity Do you keep your eyes open for expansion/diversification
I think you would love this It may or may not be for you
You would be good at this This might be lucrative for us
New business opportunity Business idea or project
Are you interested? You might want to see this.
I want you to… You might want to or you might benefit from

You Start with a Script

Very often I’ve heard people say they don’t/can’t use scripts. That’s fine. Write down what you plan to say anyway, because you need to get comfortable with making your call. You’ll need to repeat it several times. It’s very helpful to “invite yourself” into a tape recorder microphone. Listen to the tape and ask yourself “would I accept that invitation”?

One of our scripts went something like this:

You: “Hi, John, this is Sue. Do you have a minute or did I catch you at a bad time?”

Them: “No, I have a minute. What’s up?”

You: “Great, I only have a moment myself, but I’m calling because I have a business proposition for you. I don’t know if this is for you or not, but I thought you might want to know about it. Are you available on [and give the date and time of the meeting]?”

Now, here are some responses you might receive:

MOST COMMON QUESTIONS AND OBJECTIONS

  • What is it?
  • Is this a pyramid?
  • Is it Network Marketing or multi-level marketing?
  • Is this sales?
  • What would I be doing?
  • I’m too busy, I don’t have time.
  • What is the investment?

The MLM Steps to Success.

Here are the steps to take:

1) Drill, Drill, Drill

(Drill is defined as training by continued repetition.)

Divide people into pairs and have them role-play with each other. Person A reads the script. Person B asks the most common questions or objections. Start slow and easy and get tougher as your partner gets better. It’s very important that your partner feel successful. Compliment his/her efforts ALL THE TIME. Then switch: Person B invites and Person A asks the questions.

Your job as the leader here is to help keep the calls under three minutes and to insure that the person making the call wants to continue making calls. As a coach, resist the urge to correct “everything” you see a new person doing wrong. You don’t want to unintentionally invalidate the person or make him/her feel that they’re messing everything up.

It’s much better for the coach to consider the whole exercise as a gradual learning process. For some people, it can be a huge success just to dial 10 numbers in an hour.

2) Hit the Phones

Two people on each phone line. Spend one uninterrupted hour at a time, 15 minutes on, 15 minutes listening to your partner. Repeat the whole process again.

Another variation can be three dials on, three dials coaching.

The rules are: No getting up. No bathroom, no water, no answering cell phones. Nothing. It’s so important to play by the rules. We all know the feeling of searching for any excuse not to dial the phone. Believe me, this is fear-facing at its best.

3) Duplicate the Process

Use Monday — it’s the start of the week and the best day to invite to your weekly business briefing without a weekend interfering. Organize three sessions per day.

Sometimes, you can host just one session per day with a group and another session with just one other person. Charge $5.00 per person to cover the cost of the phone calls.

The group takes the first five to 10 minutes to review which event (business or product)they are going to invite prospects to, or what information they want to send out after each call. Then you break into pairs that rotate every hour, so everyone has the chance to make calls with different people.

Keep Accurate MLM Calling Records.

Keep a Daily Marketing Worksheet of dials, contacts and appointments similar to this:

Activity Goal Actual Results
Dials 10 1111111111 10
Contacts 5 111111 6
Appointments 3 1111 4

It’s very important for everyone to keep statistics while doing team calling. This is the basis for coaching and measuring progress. If anyone complains about their results, you can go straight to the Daily Marketing Worksheet and tell exactly where someone needs help. Maybe they need help with their actual phone skills, or maybe they’re just not dialing enough numbers!

What Results Can You Expect?

After two one-hour sessions in which everyone kept their statistics, the least number of confirmed appointments we’ve seen was eight. The most was 64.

That’s right! But the most impressive are those eight. What this represents is the minimum result of eight confirmed guests!

What this means for you is that if someone spent two hours per week inviting through team calling, they would have a minimum of eight confirmed appointments at the weekly meeting!

The next time you or your distributors come to a business meeting without a guest, ask yourself and them, “How much actual time did you spend making calls?”

The bottom of the bottom line is that most people don’t make enough phone calls. Making phone calls isn’t as hazardous as bomb squad work, but it really can be just as scary.

Team calling provides structure, excitement and results! Partnering and coaching is the best way I’ve seen to lead your organization and help them overcome fear of the phone and produce explosive results.

Hint: In the process of developing strategies like Team Calling for the benefit of my team members, I also developed other resources to complement the development and enhancement of each member of my team. These tools made a huge difference in their ability to succeed. The proper resources, combined with good coaching and training yields better network marketers who share your same vision and desire to succeed.
