Want to make a huge difference in someone’s life? Here are things you should say every day to your employees, colleagues, family members, friends, and everyone you care about:

1. “Here’s what I’m thinking.”

You’re in charge, but that doesn’t mean you’re smarter, savvier, or more insightful than everyone else. Back up your statements and decisions. Give reasons. Justify with logic, not with position or authority.

Though taking the time to explain your decisions opens those decisions up to discussion or criticism, it also opens up your decisions to improvement.

Authority can make you “right,” but collaboration makes everyone right–and makes everyone pull together.

2. “I was wrong.”

I once came up with what I thought was an awesome plan to improve overall productivity by moving a crew to a different shift on an open production line. The inconvenience to the crew was considerable, but the payoff seemed worth it. On paper, it was perfect.

In practice, it wasn’t.

So, a few weeks later, I met with the crew and said, “I know you didn’t think this would work, and you were right. I was wrong. Let’s move you back to your original shift.”

I felt terrible. I felt stupid. I was sure I’d lost any respect they had for me.

It turns out I was wrong about that, too. Later one employee said, “I didn’t really know you, but the fact you were willing to admit you were wrong told me everything I needed to know.”

When you’re wrong, say you’re wrong. You won’t lose respect–you’ll gain it.

3. “That was awesome.”

No one gets enough praise. No one. Pick someone–pick anyone–who does or did something well and say, “Wow, that was great how you…”

And feel free to go back in time. Saying “Earlier, I was thinking about how you handled that employee issue last month…” can make just as positive an impact today as it would have then. (It could even make a bigger impact, because it shows you still remember what happened last month, and you still think about it.)

Praise is a gift that costs the giver nothing but is priceless to the recipient. Start praising. The people around you will love you for it–and you’ll like yourself a little better, too.

4. “You’re welcome.”

Think about a time you gave a gift and the recipient seemed uncomfortable or awkward. Their reaction took away a little of the fun for you, right?

The same thing can happen when you are thanked or complimented or praised. Don’t spoil the moment or the fun for the other person. The spotlight may make you feel uneasy or insecure, but all you have to do is make eye contact and say, “Thank you.” Or make eye contact and say, “You’re welcome. I was glad to do it.”

Don’t let thanks, congratulations, or praise be all about you. Make it about the other person, too.

5. “Can you help me?”

When you need help, regardless of the type of help you need or the person you need it from, just say, sincerely and humbly, “Can you help me?”

I promise you’ll get help. And in the process you’ll show vulnerability, respect, and a willingness to listen–which, by the way, are all qualities of a great leader.

And are all qualities of a great friend.

6. “I’m sorry.”

We all make mistakes, so we all have things we need to apologize for: words, actions, omissions, failing to step up, step in, show support…

Say you’re sorry.

But never follow an apology with a disclaimer like “But I was really mad, because…” or “But I did think you were…” or any statement that in any way places even the smallest amount of blame back on the other person.

Say you’re sorry, say why you’re sorry, and take all the blame. No less. No more.

Then you both get to make the freshest of fresh starts.

7. “Can you show me?”

Advice is temporary; knowledge is forever. Knowing what to do helps, but knowing how or why to do it means everything.

When you ask to be taught or shown, several things happen: You implicitly show you respect the person giving the advice; you show you trust his or her experience, skill, and insight; and you get to better assess the value of the advice.

Don’t just ask for input. Ask to be taught or trained or shown.

Then you both win.

8. “Let me give you a hand.”

Many people see asking for help as a sign of weakness. So, many people hesitate to ask for help.

But everyone needs help.

Don’t just say, “Is there anything I can help you with?” Most people will give you a version of the reflexive “No, I’m just looking” reply to sales clerks and say, “No, I’m all right.”

Be specific. Find something you can help with. Say “I’ve got a few minutes. Can I help you finish that?” Offer in a way that feels collaborative, not patronizing or gratuitous. Model the behavior you want your employees to display.

Then actually roll up your sleeves and help.

9. “I love you.”

No, not at work, but everywhere you mean it–and every time you feel it.

10. Nothing.

Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing. If you’re upset, frustrated, or angry, stay quiet. You may think venting will make you feel better, but it never does.

That’s especially true where your employees are concerned. Results come and go, but feelings are forever. Criticize an employee in a group setting and it will seem like he eventually got over it, but inside, he never will. It’s also very much worth rewarding your staff to make them happier to work for you and there are some excellent perk plans that you can use to easily give them that.

Before you speak, spend more time considering how employees will think and feel than you do evaluating whether the decision makes objective sense. You can easily recover from a mistake made because of faulty data or inaccurate projections.

You’ll never recover from the damage you inflict on an employee’s self-esteem.

Be quiet until you know exactly what to say–and exactly what affect your words will have for your mlm network marketiung home business.

In a store with sales/employee:

“How are you? Do you
own this place? How long have you been working here? You like it? What is your favorite part? What is your least favorite? I have a company and I am really impressed with you. I would love to chat sometime.”

On a Plane:

 “How are you? Where are you from? Wow! I just started building a business there. Tell me about your town. What do you do for a living? Tell me about it.  Do you know a lot of people in your town? Not sure…but you may know who I am looking for in your city…maybe you can help me.”

In my previous Harvard Business Review blog I have written about marketing leadership being the toughest of the functional leadership roles. No other position demands such a disparate set of competencies, ranging from financial management and forecasting, to inspiring and motivating a geographically dispersed team.

In my blog about the keys to marketing leadership, I noted that visionary leadership is particularly important in the sales and marketing  function. While working with sales and marketing  leaders over the last two decades, I have found six areas of strength in the best of them:

1. Driving for results is the top priority.

Nearly every sales and marketing leader I have had the opportunity to work with has had a relentless focus on achieving “the number.” That is, the revenue number for their team or organization. A vital component of the vision for a sales organization is the achievement of the top (and often, bottom) line growth objective.

2. Coaching and developing others is the cultural norm.

These leaders posses a clear perspective on the importance of onboarding and inculcating new members of the team, as well as developing their existing talent. This vision includes a recognition that sales and marketing is one of the few disciplines in which professionals gain the majority of their knowledge and experience from peers and managers. There are few college degrees in sales.

3. Strategy is the name of the game.

A strategy comes to life during the interaction between an organization and its clients. Most often, this happens with the sales and marketing organization in the acquisition and management of clients. As a result, the actions of everyone in the marketing organization need to be carefully aligned to support that strategy. And the vision for the sales organization must express that strategy clearly.

4. Working as a team makes the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I have seen few selling efforts succeed on the hard work of a sales and marketing professional alone (though in fairness I have seen some.) More often than not there is a team of support professionals from marketing, product development, and service that have helped to make for a successful client experience. Sales professionals are frequently in a position of leading that team, which requires cross-functional collaboration to be a part of that vision.

5. Motivating to action is the objective.

A sales and marketing leader’s vision ought to inspire and create confidence in order to achieve the organizational goals. By its nature a powerful vision expresses a hopeful future about what your organization will be. That envisioned future state ought to provide a level of excitement about where you are headed and inspire people to carry out the actions required to achieve it. Further, as a sales leader, you are the message, so your behaviors must show that you are the exemplar of these characteristics.

6. Effective communication is the foundation.

A terrific vision for a sales and marketing leader that is not well-communicated will lie fallow. This is more than just eloquent speaking ability – it has everything to do with conveying value. Not just talking about a vision, but also listening, and asking questions that provoke interest and uncover needs.

Visionary leadership is frequently discussed in theoretical or fuzzy terms. When sales teams in particular look to their leaders, they expect vision in practical, sometimes even tactical terms. They want that vision to be clear and unequivocal, and to be guided by that vision. Using these guidelines to help you craft a vision for your sales organization or team, you can create a pithy and concise vision that compels them to action.

This step is simply the first 30 seconds to a minute and getting the conversation warmed up. It usually contains questions and phrases like:

“How have you been?”

“How is work?”
“Just wanted to call you to let you know…”
“I was thinking about you and just wanted to check in…”


After you have broken the ice, and the conversation has warmed up, then you naturally start the Connection step. You Connect with friends and family with topics like:

Your last conversation.
Their children.
Their spouse.
Latest news.
Their life happenings.
Their job.
Their hobbies, interests, faith, etc.


You have broken the ice, connected with them, now comes the Message. This is the REAL REASON for the phone call. You are going to deliver a Message to them about something that you want them to know, think about, do, go to, learn about, or just to let them know you were thinking about them.

Your Message is one of Helping the prospect as well as:

Making Life More Comfortable, bringing a New Hope to people’s lives, Transforming their Destiny, Creating a Totally Secure Future, Enlarging Lifestyle, and Living a Richer Life.
Your Message for Retailing is One of benefits of the product, Value to the consumer, and helping you.

The REAL Message you are bringing is:

You are a great person and deserve the best that life has to offer.
I want to make you FEEL better about yourself, and feel like a Million Dollars after this call.
I want you “POUR OUT” Encouragement, Empowerment, and Belief.

Mastery Secret: Make the person ecstatic that you called.


Here are some questions that need to be asked:

Where do we go from here at this point?
Is it that you will call them later in the future?
Do you have a specific target that you want to establish?
Do you have an action you want them to take?
Did you set a time for a future call?
What is the destination of where you want them to go?

What NOW happens?

Have you ever been discouraged in your home based business you are working?

Are you fighting discouragement now in your network marketing enterprise?

Do you know people on your mlm work at home team that are fighting discouragement?

Often, discouragement can be like a cancer that you do not know that is happening. I have seen this take so many good people out of this business. They had GREAT potential but yet, they did not stay on the business.


Well, to answer that, you really need to look at the REASONS why people get frustrated and discouraged. It is quite revealing how it happens, what makes it happens, and even how to over come it. But one thing I know- you CAN and WILL overcome it if you allow yourself to do that. I think you should also visit birrongsurialpacas for more information.

What IS discouragement and what prompts it in the home business profession?

It starts with an understanding of what discouragement really is, and what creates it, and then what to do to get rid of it, and ALL MLM Leaders need to know this.

First off, all discouragement is really and simply an emotion that replaces courage, or the will to continue. Discouragement has a “STOP” impact on all of us, and it stops us from moving forward.

And just like the negative and potentially poisonous words displace, distrust, or dislike, this emotion creates the opposite of what once was. It is the Silent, Deadly Thief in a Distributors life, and you must know how to handle it if you are ever going to  build a great team. It is easy to do- if you know WHAT TO DO and what causes this emotion of STOP.

Through our research and 26 years in this profession, we have found that there are basically 5 things that create discouragement in this business, and all else revolves around them:

1)Questioning yourself.

All discouragement starts with simply questioning yourself whether consciously, or subconsciously. Those deadly words -”Can I really Do this?” echoes in their heart and you really start to doubt you and your abilities and this alone can sabotage a career in direct sales. I have seen it too many times.

2) Lack of Results.

This is a biggie. RESULTS RULE in most cultures in the home business profession. You can eject yourself from this business with no results or at least small results that do not get any bigger. And all this starts with questioning YOU, your ABILITIES and TALENT, which sabotages your actions, which cripples your results.

3) Expectations too high.

This is done almost daily in this profession and it is a killer of results and even bothering to attempt any actions. It can be a de-moralizer, and a de-motivator as well.  The new person does not yet have the skill set to build a million dollar business, but expects to, and when it does not happen quickly as they expect or have been led to expect, they think they cannot do this business. They CAN but they have to develop the belief and skill set- something someone forgot to tell them.

4) Listening to the Wrong People.

This can discourage quickly especially if Influencers in your life are being negative towards your new home business.  People that the new distributor knows becomes negative and the distributor is not inoculated to fend off the poison arrows of negative and stopping words and conversations.. (This is a Must!)

5) Loss of a Vision OnFire.

People start a hone business to Increase, Empower, or Improve something in their life. All Leaders know this. After you have been in a while, you can lose the Fire for your Vision, because slowly, silently, Doubt has crept in, created by distractions, or Lack of Focus, or lack of Empowering Relationships…growing into a Discouragement Tumor, then Cancer. And then because of the lack of Fire being fanned, it slowly….goes out.

You have finished your in home meeting, and people now have seen the information and are now ready for something else…what do you DO? In many home business direct selling companies, you go for the sale which is good..but what if you could do something BETTER then that? What of you could IMPACT them with something that they would REALLY be drawn towards?

There are great ideas and tactics, but here is a success tactic that can accelerate the IMPACT of your in home meeting which will only multiply your results.

 I call it “The 5 Questions.”

After the presentation, hand out the “PBR Profile,” say “I need your help. I would like for you to try our products, and also we are looking for a couple of people to partner up with to help introduce our program to this area. You may know someone that could use a secondary revenue source of an extra $1,000-2000 a month. Please fill out the form I just gave you.”

There are 5 questions.

Telephone_____________________________ Email_________________________________

 1. “Do you like the idea of (Whatever the benefits are of your products)

 2.  “Do you know someone who could use and extra $1,000 a month without changing anything they are doing?”

 3.  “What part of what you have seen tonight did you like the best?”

 4. “What product do you believe will be the most popular?”

 5.  “Can you see yourself or someone you know becoming successful in something like this?”

This profile will help you ascertain who truly has an interest and doesn’t in network marketing.

What do you do AFTER the 5 questions are asked? Here is the next move or action you need to take:

Hand out the Information Packets.

These simply contain brochures, audios and any other information piece you think they need…and include Success information as well. I have always suggested including a quotes page or booklet as a gift they will appreciate.

 Socialize again and answer questions, and set follow up appointments.

Ask — ”Which part did you like the best?” or “What made the most sense to you?” or “What really got your attention?”

And then set up times to follow up one on one…for your mlm network marketing home business.

“it is amazing what a compliment can do when it is done for no other reason then to compliment. And agenda focused compliment can be felt and often rejected by the listener. You need to be aware of what you can compliment people with sincerity and then do it. You will be surprised how they respond.”

In home meetings have been around for 60 years, and really even longer. They started in Europe with hosting parites for business in the 1400s. They have been one of the standard ways to get your message out to others for your home business success. There are in home meetings and party plans done every day and night across the world.

Yes I know.

Social media and online marketing changed a lot of that. But even social media is being combined now with in home meetings with video, skype, facebook and google hangouts. In home meetings whether you do them or not, are highly popular and highly effective.

How would you like to know what kind of invitation to send that would guarantee folks to show up? How would you like to know a Power Phrase you could say that would DOUBLE your attendance?


How to send Magnetic Invitations for a Home business In Home Meeting.

If you are planning on sending invites out for your in home meeting, send them an invitation in the mail about your meeting, PLUS in an email as insurance, 2 weeks before your in home meeting happens. There are amny different types of invites but we like to send what we call MAGNETIC INVITES.

For example, a rep for a nutrition company would send something like this:

“You are cordially invited to a Private Business Reception at my home on Wed. the 22nd, to celebrate the opening of our new business in the <Healthcare Industry.>  You will learn how important <Healthcare> is today for our personal lives, littel known tips that will help you with <                 >  and also how to take advantage of a Trillion Dollar industry that is growing rapidly. It starts at ——–pm, and will end in about an hour or less. Food and drinks will be served and there will be free gifts and prizes given away. Please RSVP. I look forward to seeing you!”

This invite is short, to the point, and tells them what it is all about. PLUS it assumes they are coming. There are many ways to write an invitation, check with your sponsor to see what he/she recommends. One of the best ways to insure they read your invite is to social them, email them, and snail mail them. it is effective and powerful for an in home invite.

ALSO– Dont forget to buy the food and drinks for the Reception!

Don’t over do it but be generous. Sodas and finger foods are nice, and all that is really needed. This is NOT a banquet, but a nice reception to celebrate your mlm business. By the way, word of advice: NO ALCOHOL. This is a business meeting and you want to set  standard with you and your team of professional business. What you do AFTER the meeting is your personal business.

And dont forget to Follow up with a phone call!!

 “Hello Nancy? This is Doug, I need your help on something. I recently sent you an invitation to a reception at my home, and I am following up because I really need  you there as a friend. Can I count on you being there for me?”

KEY Phrase: ”Can I count on you being there for me?” will double your attendance at your meetings, as most people id they know they are being counted on will show up.

And here is the GUARANTEE Phrase they show up:

“And would you mind nringing some <            >  as I do need a little help with this meeting. Would that be ok? I really appreciate your help?”
